  1. We have lots of Rasputina players in our group who play the basic box, so as the Resurrectionist I can give you some ideas. First thing to do is spread out. If they play anything like our group she will channel her December's Curse spell throught a gamin cheat and soulstone the total throught the roof and than blast everything around the target. Also try to avoid more that one model to a piece of terrain as Freeze over can be a pain. The golem should not be too big a problem as it moves kinda slow and you could summon a flesh contruct and let the big guys fight it out. Ideal models to bring would be belles (to lure the gamins out of range), night terror and canine remains (fast and can spread out, making lots of targets). She is tricky to get close to, but if you can, she is not the best fighter. That is what I can offer based off how our players play her.
  2. I can sum that up pretty much in one word, nothing. I am currently unemployed after losing my job of 15 years, I have no family left in the area where I live, and the closest thing I have to a relationship is owning Skyrim. So, yes, Ironskullbo has a major handicap, but he is a fast painter than myself. In the time it takes for him to paint and base 5 miniatures, I have only painted 3 miniatures and they are not based yet. So there you go, as Ironskullbo said, it is all just for fun and bragging rights and for the entertainment of our fellow Malifauxian.
  3. Greeters everyone, LordZombie here. You might know me from my replies about Resurrectionist, mainly as this is my one and only faction some Outcast in there once and a while. So Malifaux is one of the few games I have played where I really enjoy painting the models. Maybe it is the models themselves, the low model count, or the fact I do not have to paint the same model 50 times. So a friend of mine and regular gamer in my gaming group, is really into painting also. So for the last couple weeks, him and I have been competing in how many models we can paint in a week. That brings us to the this thread. We decided that we might as well record it here for everyone to enjoy also. The rules are easy, we just paint up all the models we can between Sunday and Friday night. It is Sunday to Friday as we get together and game on Saturday. So sit back and enjoy. Now hopeful my opponent will post up his introduce next.
  4. Good points everyone. Resurrectionist are just fun to play. The style, the theme, the masters. I often wonder if it is tournament style play that puts the dark outlook on some models, in Resurrectionist and other faction as well. Maybe that is another thread that needs to be started.
  5. Garage sales are the best for finding that great piece for terrian. The old saying is very true, one man's treasure is another man's terrian.
  6. Love Molly and Kirai. Your artwork is so cute and the comics are so funny! Keep up the good work!
  7. The tree is from a great little clix game called Horroclix! One of the most fun clix games I have every played. It was in the starter box. I use some of the models in Malifaux as they are just about the right scale. You can still get the starter box at some sites for less than $5. Great game, too bad it was not brought back with the other dozen or so clix games.
  8. Yeah, Heroscape was not a bad games. I am not a fair of the dice mechanics, but the story was pretty cool. Friend of mine really got a lot of people into the game, he even went to a few tournaments. To this day, I think I still have about 3 or 4 full starters. In the world of gaming, all good things must come to an end.
  9. I agree with a point that Dorian made, it is all about our personal play style really. There are some schemes I would never take no matter what models I had because with my play style, I could not pull them off. But I think the list is pretty good idea of the basic models that most Resurrectionist would take.
  10. Another thing to keep in mind is the other masters in the faction. So you really look at the faction you want to play first and then the easiest master in the faction to start with. After a few games, you are going to want more models, it happens to all of us.
  11. Not bad, fellow Ressers. Out of 9 post, only one was kinda negitive. Some even went so far as to actually post up what they think are good models. As someone that never plays anything competitively, I enjoy the Resurrectionist. For me, it is fun to run Seamus and the Redchapel gang or Molly and the Horrors. I am the guy who plays McMourning and never kills any of my own models for body parts. I just feel the Resurrectionist need more people with something good to say versus those that can only point out the bad points. Let's keep the thread going.
  12. If you really want to add wings to something, reaper sells a pack of wings. They are made to just be glued to any model. A few people in my gaming group have full crews of proxied minis or stratched build ones to save money or because they don't like Wyrds minis. And like Rathnard said, there are lots of malifaux miniatures that look nothing like what they can do ability-wise or spell-wise. Just go with the minis you like and slap them on 30mm bases.
  13. So I have no idea how things go in the other faction discussions, but things always look pretty sad and pitiful in the Resurrectionist side. Seems like every thread is just full of post about how bad Resurrectionist are. If I were totally new to Malifaux and used the forums as a guide as to what faction to play, I would never pick Resurrectionist. So I wonder, if all the masters are no good, the henchmen we have is terrible, and the minions are all way below the average for Malifaux, why do you play Resurrectionist? Where is our diamond in the rough, the one few models we have to hopefully win a game with? What good thing could you said to someone to get them to play Resurrectionist? Please note, that none of this includes Kirai. She is more an outcast within Resurrectionist. She and her minions are pretty much the only ones you will see that something positive to them.
  14. Wow, if that is just tabletop quality, I don't want to see what it looks like when you really try. Really nice models. Just another reason why I will never post up pictures of my models, I would be laughed off the fourms. Great job to you.
  15. While we are talking about the hanged, I have a question. What if you used whispers from beyond on someone like Von Schill or Colette and then killed them, could they use a healing flip on their slow to die action or not?
  16. I am most likely the only person on the forums to say that if you are looking for fun, then look for Molly. I am most likely the only person on the forums to speak highly of Molly. Of the times I have ran her as a master, I have only lost once (the other times were draws). I mainly run her box set with some belles to help out. Don't misquote me, you are not going to walk over your opponent, but over all I have fun playing with her. Maybe I am just a sucker for the underdog, and Molly is about as underdog as you get.
  17. I find the very basics of the game are very easy. It is like playing 'war' with modifiers. It is the models themselves that add a complex nature to the game. A very fun, but complex, nature. You will also need to get in the mind set that the game is based off objectives, not just killing every model on the table.
  18. Welcome to Malifaux and the good choice on a faction!
  19. So my gaming group and I will be working on some campaign rules I came up with. I decided the idea of upgrading masters and minions was not a great idea. Lots of trouble keeping track of who got a level up and who got a new skill and which minion it was in the first place. So I thought to myself, who would be a good model to upgrade? Then it came to me, make a new master! The idea of the campaign is start off as a human who joins one of the factions and learns from the masters of that faction to gain skills and spells. We will be starting this Saturday and after a little playtesting, I will post up the rules here for everyone to use. So keep an eye on this thread for updates and reports to the progress. Oh yeah, 100th post!
  20. The encounters from adepticon were story encounters and lots of fun. My gaming group played them all and everyone enjoyed them quite a bit. I think you can find a link to them here on the forums somewhere.
  21. Those wooden counters are really nice and a good price also. As for counters I use, I just printed up ratty's on heavier photo paper and just use them like that. I also keep them in a nice little divider I got.
  22. Wow, those are some insane (really, they are insane) miniatures. It says that most are 54mm, did the one you get come in 30mm? Looks like a awesome set of miniatures.
  23. No idea on how Sonnia plays, but I get a lot of Rasputina in my group. Can't help you on that part but your list looks pretty good. If you are going to get henchmen for some of the box set, might as well get one for each box set. If a player gets both, they have a pretty good starting crew. Getting the totems for each master is a pretty good idea also.
  24. Is there anything you can make out of foamboard besides buildings, ruined or not?
