Snapped a couple pictures at the tournament today. Thanks to everyone who came out, and to Cadilon for running it for us!

Which effect, the metallic or the rust? For the metallics I started with GW Tin Bits, Boltgun metal, and black (equal parts mix). Then I did light layers of highlight building up to Boltgun. Then numerous 50/50 light washes of black/brown ink. Then a very light drybrush of 50/50 boltgun and chainmail. The rust is a rust powder pigment that I mixed some brown ink in with. Then just a touch of the rush pigment on it's own for a highlight. Hope that helps. Thanks for looking everyone!

Hey all. Wasn't a huge fan of the aViks sculpt (I'm picky). Picked up the alt Viks and with a little simple modification to one of them I was able to make an aViks more to my liking. Comments and criticism are greatly appreciated. I'd love to hear what you all think! Thanks for looking!

So I've had a crazy busy summer doing away rotations at other hospitals, but I finally was able to get some figures painted! I've been working on my Justice Avatar of Balance for a while. I'm considering adding some more to the base, but at least it's mostly complete! I've been experimenting with OSL, I'm hoping it looks ok! Getting closer to finishing her off. I just need to get the base painted and get my add-ons onto the base. I think I'm going to hold on the undead corpse thing. C&C appreciated. The next update should be the finished figure. Thanks!

Viks should be VERY happy with Vanessa. Without copy/pasting directly out of the book, here's why: 1. She's mobile, and she can participate in Viks movement shenanigans. 2. She has a decent ranged magical weapon. 3. She has a couple card draw abilities. 4. Viks will <3 her offense and defense buffing spells. She also opens up some more options for the Viks...basically, she provides access to an Arcanist construct. Not sure how to use this...yet. So all in all, Viks get a nice boost in the book.

Getting close to finishing. Kind of wondering if I should do a little more red OSL onto aLady J's face and such...Thoughts?

It looks like Yamaziko comes with the dust vacuum of doom.

Oirian are potentially very useful...especially considering they can Lure a Vik into a better position.

So I've had a couple nights off to paint...I'm a little stuck though. I was initially thinking of painting the flames ram/red and crow/green and doing OSL on both sides of the figure...my only concern is that the red on the right side will really clash with the hair. There's a picture attached, thoughts? Thanks.

The skull is from Wyrd's Ghost town base accessories pack. It was pretty much my main reason for buying the pack. There might be a small metal cactus in that pack too...I can't remember.

I actually used some Woodland Scenic's cacti to make some Malifaux terrain. Here are a couple of pictures of what I came up with...Guild stuff added for scale: Made the bases out of some spare GW vehicle flight bases, some pumice, and some slate rock.

Don't forget about the Watcher! A fast, cheap, late-game objective grabber w/ deck manipulation? Yes please.

Does anyone have any suggestions of something to add to the base? Like an undead corpse or something?

So I got the Lady J avatar mini when it came out, and while it looked cool I really was uncertain about it's stability. I'm pretty certain that her arms could support the beasties in her hands, but I was more concerned about stability on the game board, as well as getting it painted. I wasn't sure I could paint Lady J well if those beasties were in her hands, but the joint they glued into wasn't seamless and would require some green stuff to fill the gap....which means I'd have to assemble prior to painting. So I went back and forth about what to do, and then ultimately decided to cop-out and do the following: I decided to use the heads from the ram and crow monsters to make the mark of rams and mark of crows. Though not certainly as impressive as the original sculpt, I think the overall effect works well and will be suitable for gaming. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would appreciate it. I'm currently searching for suitable undead corpse bits to stick at Lady J's feet. Once I find a suitable undead victim she'll be hitting the painting table.

I have to agree with the good Lord Zombie. Plus...as a Viks player you should be a heck of a lot more maneuverable. When I have trouble with Viks it's because I over-extend and expose myself too early. Also...Sue has become an auto include for me for crews that are reliant on Wp duels...more for Ronin boosting. I love my Ronin. A lot.

I've had the same problem with my Guild Hounds. They've been sitting around with a splash of brown for a few months. I moved on to some other stuff...maybe I'll go back to them soon. Usually if I take a break and either paint something else, or move on to another activity, I can get the inspiration back. Running/walking is good.

Three days before the IP8 round 11 entries were due, I had taken my entry to my LGS for some critique. There was a really bad windstorm that night, and while I was in the restroom someone opened the door and the wind blew my case off of the table. I then had to reassemble and repaint my entry in 3 days. It was miserable.

I'm a Fort Wayne player, but I'm going to be doing a rotation in Muncie, IN in the month of June. Is there a gamestore/Malifaux group down in funcie-Muncie?
