  1. Hi Everyone, The Hall of Heroes will be once again running Decembers Curse on the 8th of December. Decembers Curse is a tournament designed to allow all players, be they new to the game or expert, to have a fun day and get right into the awesome game that is Malifaux. Tournament Rules: Models DO NOT need to be painted, however all models must at least be assembled and representative of the model they are supposed to be, with an appropriate and up to date stat card. Proxies are allowed for unreleased models, if you have any proxy concerns, please inbox me. This event consists of 3 games, which are 35 stone scraps. Scoring with be determined using the Domination Format, scoring using TP/DIFF/VP. Crew selection is done with 55ss Limited Faction Pools, which must be submitted to the tournament organizer before the first game. Only a single master and faction may be used for all 3 games. Extra information can be found at the “Gaining Ground” rules pack – available from http://www.wyrd-games.net/Upload/MalifauxGainingGround2011print.pdf Encounters are the “Random Expanded Encounter” from the Malifaux “Gaining Ground” rules pack – available from http://www.wyrd-games.net/Upload/MalifauxGainingGround2011print.pdf Special Events (page 72 of the Malifaux Rules Book 1.5) will be used. 3. There was a mix up, and the store thought I was running it this saturday, so it didnt get marketed much, I ended up with just 5 players after 4 other players who were coming all had last minute change of plans. Better luck next time =)
  4. I thought about using laz with the swarm, but I then realised that Laz already has melee expert, so the effort of hiring the swarm and finding a scrap counter just to assimilate 1 extra ap didn't seem worth it. Shame laz didn't have ranged expert instead, cause then it'd have been totally sweet.
  5. the Gun Vik will spend both Ap to switch and then Push the Sword Vik in front of her. (melee expert if possibly, but unlikely this early) The Sword Vik will then charge and use Melee Expert.
  6. I am also extremely excited by Vanessa, I honestly think her Nimble, walk of 5, and ability to be part of Sister's in Spirit is the BEST! Aggressively, (especially if your opponent has split his models up, your Sword Vik can make 2 strikes from more than 28inches away on turn 1. This is done by triple moving Vanessa up, then using Gun Vik to companion activate, switch places with Vanessa and then summon Sword Vik 3inches in front of her, then she charges forward and melee experts. (oh, how I'm so so so so so wishing to do this to a pack of Night Terrors deployed away from main party) Strategically this can be used to make very fast and early interacts with Treasure counters or deliver messages. I feel like Vanessa alone fixed an issue the Viks had with not having a cheap (or any tbh) objective grabbing unit, and she does it with an aggressive shell, I'm utterly stoked to start playing her, and I also believe she becomes an auto-include all the time.
  7. I read it clearly as lump sum wounds. I've always played it that way, and no one at any tournaments I've played in has ever called it differently. n tthe hard to kill interaction, it wouldn't matter which way poison worked, as hard to kill only kicks in fromdamage, and poison does straight up wounds, so a model with two wounds left and hard to kill will die to poison 2 on activation anyway.
  8. I will be running an Malifaux tournament on Saturday 15th September at The Hall of Heroes, 60 Queen Street, Campbelltown, Sydney, NSW, 2560. Phone no. (02) 46258020. Registration will start at 11am, with round 1 starting at 11.30am. Entry will be $10 to play, all money being used to provide store credit for prizes. The event will be run in accordance with the Gaining Ground document, using Domination format, (TP/DIFF/VP) to determine the winner. I am imposing Fixed Master for the rounds. 25ss games, 3 rounds which will be: Shared Claim Jump (You've found the location of an ancient artifact, doubtless worth a fortune in guild script, but so has the enemy!) Shared Treasure Hunt (The artifact is within sight, it's a race to see who can get it first, and who can hold it without dying!) Shared Slaughter (You've just about had enough of your enemies meddling, its time to get even!) Each round will have 80mins for setup and play, then time will be called and both players will completely finish their turns. No new turns can start after time is called. Schemes are unique across the day (including Assassinate and Bodyguard), meaning you must choose 6 different schemes across all games (or less if you want +2ss as per rules.) If you wish to attend, please visit http://www.thehallofheroes.com.au/ and sign up in the events calendar (accurate numbers will help us designate tables.) This can be done from 8th September.
  9. Nope, your crew is fine. Henchman are a little bit different than master's in that instead of a cache, they have a henchman bonus. The difference between these is that a master's cache cannot ever be used to hire models, they just add ss to be used during the game, while a Henchman bonus is a number of ss you add to your hiring allowance, the leftovers (but no higher than the value of the bonus) are used as ss throughout the game. So, for von schill in a 25 point game he can hire 29 ss worth of models. If you hire 26, you'll have 3 left, but if you hired only 22, you'd still only have 4 ss in your cache, henchman cannot exceed there bonus in starting caches. It's important to remember this only applies if your using a henchman as your leader. If you were to hire von schill in a viks led crew, he'd cost 9ss and the bonus is ignored entirely, you use the masters cache instead.
  10. I have used him in games of stake a claim pretty well, but my all time favourate is getting him killed on turn 4 (sometimes I do it on purpose) so he can pop back on turn 6 in my opponents deployment zone to deny hold out, to get extra turf war points.
  11. Sounds good, let's hope I'm not working. I'll sign up as soon as I'm sure I've got it off.
  12. You can start play with 3 stolen, and after sacrificing one for a spell, (making a free rat) just resummon it. That way you don't really need to have many of the same model. Sotlen come in blisters of three, so three's good. I have 6 myself, just because of the Slaughter Strategy plan, where I'll want to start with 6 in play. Also, if you not in a tournament you can proxy the stolen with a ronin or really any other human looking model you have.
  13. Avatar Hoffman has a 0 spell that needs a low Tome that can turn a target construct.
  14. Should have stuck with Zoraida Toonook. Team Zoraida FTW! 3rd and 2nd place, with no dolls painted up except Collodi + Marionettes. Honestly though, I think Renegade Steamfitter Johan was the model that pulled the most weight for me, even with only 5CB and costing 7ss.
  15. I came 3rd on day 1, and 2nd on day 2, playing Zoraida both days, which netted me 2nd overall I think, and the winner was a bloke named Tigh, not sure of his forum name, and he was playing a Fall Back and sacrifice yourself Pandora crew, which was pretty awesome and hard to defend against. (even when I fielded a crew of 8wp, 9wp and 10wp models only, lol)
  16. Can't help you too much with that, I've never played as Hamelin. I bought him and all the models he can hire, after loving his fluff, and read up on his rules as much as I can, but I'm not going to start playing him until after he gets errata'd. (Don't want to learn him twice, and don't want others to play against him at my LGS while he's so strong.) By positioning, I meant that keeping the Catchers near the Rats, and making sure to keep their armour up is very important. Also, making sure you activate the right models in the right order is so much more important for Hamelin than other masters as you definitely don't want your rats to move away from their Voracious Aura's, but don't want to activate them to find you cant engage with the enemy that turn without exposing them. The best way to work it out though would be just to have a bunch of games to get used to the Aura's range and all the interactions. Practice makes perfect. (Took me ages to learn all the triggers on all my models, its the one thing that only practice can help you remember.)
  17. From the recent FAQ on the Malifaux Website Can a model kill or sacrifice itself? Yes. Unless the Talent/Spell causes a fixed number of wounds and those wounds would drop the model to 0 Wounds. The rats with blight counters cannot use Writhing Mass because it would cause a fixed number of wounds to kill itself. (Also, gameplay-wise, it would be very overpowered if they could, because after moving a Rat-Catcher forward into 6inch range of any number of opponents models, you could use, lets say, 50 Writhing Mass's from a single rat, moving him around the 6inch aura of the Rat-Catcher (movement occurring from summoning in B2B contact with dying rat, rather than in its exact space) applying an overload of blight counters to all models in range, which would all be one-shot able from any Rat-Catcher, Wretch, Stolen, or Nix via Bleeding Disease.) That being said, you can pretty much do thing anyway without the excessive Writhing Mass's, just by moving a Rat-Catcher forward, using Mouldy Cheese to move rats, and killing them with Slaughter Rats. this will still apply a Blight Token for ever Rat killed, and can be duplicated if the rats form into a new Rat-Catcher and Slaughter again. aHamelin is a very strong Avatar, and positioning is very important for his Talents to shine.
  18. Can zoraida take the arachnid swarm? Her talent to hire models with less than 4 wp only applies to living models doesn't it?
  19. The way I read it, only the model using Sisters in Victory makes an attack.
  20. I would have thought that because Trigger Happy says Immediately after damaging target, make another strike, and BYOG does not say Immediately, then you would continue to make shots, however many times as you pull the Trigger Happy off, and then after that BYOG (possibly several BYOG's) would then summon Gremlins.
