  1. this is the list in question is at 35ss Viktoria w/3 ss Freikorps Librarian 7ss Lazarus 8ss Vanessa, (proxy) 7ss A.S. - Steampunk Arachnid Swarm 10ss the "idea" was lazarus nabs melee master from the swarm who then breaks up to give more activation's. vanessa the libarian and one of the vics swaping in and out for healing and extra board threat, stick together mostly. the 3 spiders the other vic and old lazarus move in a lose group and just try to do vp stuff and take as many models out of action as possible. the problem is speed. every thing moves at different rates and i don't want to use the pass action ever. in addition 3 ss just does not cut it for a vic crew. any ideas, my first thought was to drop the swarm for a convicted gun slinger and a stash of 8ss, but if i do that then i have nothing for lazarus to make use of so i just drop him for 2 ronin. but then this list looks like my old one with just a swap of hamlin for vanessa. and what i wanted was something new to play around with. thanks in advance.

  3. so i put this together after looking at a friends book vicktora w/ avatar von shill w/student of conflict convict gunslinger taelor 8ss i don't know right now about avatars. the idea with this much like the last one, the vicks and von shill move up together picking a target and assassinating quick and dirty. i imagine that with 8ss i will be able to keep the vicks alive long enough to transform into the sonic hedgehog speed ball of doom that they call there avatar. student moves von shill one more time first turn then tags along with taelor. von shill with all his actions will be able to re group with the "castle" one this happens. or find targets for the avatar to swap into. the other half of this team just finds the most likely funnel point or the most valuable objective and camp out on it. taking it as it comes. i am would very much have liked to have some ronin or that librarian. was thinking that hamelin and the librarian would make a nice supporting duet but at 16pts it seems like to big of an investment with out an obvious payoff. made a solo shill list as well. i think it looks very similar to last nights list but may not work as well. von shill freikorpmann freikorpmann convict johan librarian hamelin 4ss i just see this as slower but more sturdy, with less chance of working. what do you all think? and the avatar how often to you see them show up? they look nice on paper though i think that they would not hit the table till 4th if they show up at all. turn giving them maybe 2 turns to work. points wise i think its a steal but having the option might incline me to put them at more risks than i would otherwise. need to play a few games to see how it works. edit: just had a thought if i gave the vicks a student could i link von shills to one and one to the other first turn speed them up quite a bit i think perhaps getting avatar just that much sooner, what do you think?
  4. well i still have the taelor body, her arm ended up in a conversion at some point. venus da' taelor, i do like her sculpt, hell hath no fury like a woman's wrath. i am sure i will find a suitable hammer arm around here. hard to kill, hard to wound, very nice indeed. one would think she was undead. she relay does seam like a very "hard point" type of module. she has this nice long weapon range and two neat options that i think could keep her safer than her two hard abilities; forcing opponents to burn an action to move back into range with her. ok ill give her a try, need to figure out some synergies for this gal. her move is not as wow as a ronin, but i bet her and the convict could hold an objective very well. thinking that for a 13 ss value you get a nice castle. i wish i had more soul stones...
  5. had a good game played treasure hunt. jack daw is a fantastic stall piece. very good at shutting down spell casting and it does not need any major support. he spent a turn killing off his hounds and proceeded to pump out punk zombies the rest of the game; succeeding almost every attempt. hamelin did well... until jack daw started hovering about. had a ronin run through jack daw, next target into and wounding a crooked man; killing it next turn, next targeting a necro punk killing it and landing on the treasure counter 5th turn with a move leftover. it was very cool. it was a close game at the end. my vicks did well they lasted a long time, one survived till the end of the game granted it was spent the last 2 turns paralyzed. hans shot jack daw in the head, not that it matterd, then he got chewed on by a punk zombie. hamelin made jack daw insignificant. those where the highlights.
  6. hay i have a game to night we agreed to do it at 35, so ill proxy hamelin for a game. he sent me his list nicodem 3 canine remains 3 necro punks crooked man rotten belle jack daw this is a completely new list for him, i know he has 2 the hanged, a few punk zombies, more bells and crooked men, and zombies to raise up and stitch together; he might have bring his killjoy proxy as well. so plenty of options for all those counters. i don't know what jack daw does, i know his model looks like a hanged man so i assume it is something like that. he is a good painter so i cant wait to see his new work.
  7. thanks for all the quick responses. @ blue star how do you calculate 8 available ss at 35 pts? 5+5+5+8+9 is 32. do i get 5 ss free from some place if so could you give me a pg#. thanks in advance. i only have the first rule book so the next 2 will be my next buy. but this von schill seams very popular perhaps ill pick up his box at the same time. as for tactics well first off i should point out that we play on 4ft by 4ft boards with heavy terrain a throw back from the necromunda years; 70-85% coverage i would say. our boards look like big junkyards with a brothel and a saloon nestled in, they tend to have about 3 levels of buildings and other "stuff" with a few gangways. our group has a few dudes into the terrain building aspect of the hobby (my self included) but we are just starting in on the wild west theme. now, as for tactics first turn: hans normally spends his activation moving forward and vertical, he then sits in the same spot a few turns watching the twins and a ronin advance scaring people who would slow them down. he seams to get lucky when it counts; actually developed a good reputation with his headshot ability. the girls and a ronin move forward more often than not toward the master or a big group of minions. late second or early third turn the gun will move twice then use her ability to pull swords who then charges in and makes a mess of some poor fools with her "cleave" ability who thought i was out of range. it is in this attack that i use a few ss. at this point i either do well or i don't, if i killed most things and the ones who survived had already activated then i pile in with the other vik and the ronin next turn. if not swords runs like hell and uses any remaining ss to heal, if she is not dead that is. the ronin and gun vick take any opportunity that presents it self trying not to die in the meantime. the convict and the last ronin bumble about working towards objective markers and pushing people off and camping on defenses. don't know how i am going to use hamelin just yet if i use him at all that is. i imagine using him as a trump in the late game or getting some extra moves out of my figures early game. thanks all edit:sp and hamelin p
  8. hi, my buds and i are all new to malifaux but really quite excited about it. we are all longtime miniature gamers and in looking for a new experience found this curiosity of a game among a few others.we played through a few games to see if the rules where as quirky as they seamed. and with an over whelming majority we chose this system for our next campaign (i don't know if that is what this system calls it) we basically just scale up 10 points once a month; about 6-10 games. we are at 35pts as of february. i my self had purchased a few models in the range to represent characters in other games and for some conversions. but what my list is looking like is viktoria (used the 2 sword one for a vampire at one point, just striped it and primed for a healthier paint job) convict gunslinger (this bloke was a shadow run character a bit back, so many good memories) hans ronin ronin hamelin, rat catcher 3ss hamelin is the newest addition thinking his abilities could really help with the varied strategies and schemes. in honesty the only thing i don't really like about the play style are the viktorias them selves. they kill real well but seam to truly suffer in board control. though getting overwhelmed with whirlwind turns into a good thing, well, until one dies that is. and the ronin resurrector ability while very very cool, needs like a 13 to go off, thats 5 cards in the entire deck. if its not in your hand is not really worth trying in my opinion. what i am looking for is... well... anything. any comment you might have would be very cool.
