  1. I like using him both as a threat, so the enemy doesn't know where he's coming from and also as a midgame offense followed by late game objective grabber. Yesterday played against my son (Freikorps + Lazarus) and did exactly that. He was keeping lazarus and the flammenwerfer in positions to cover each other against a collodi attack so when I launched it I also had Juju pop up to distract people. Juju died to a lucky shot after killing a freikorpsman but then just came back the next turn to accomplish my stake claim scheme. Doesn't sound like much for a 10ss model but he also slowed down their early turn movement as they tried to keep him from popping up anywhere that mattered.
  2. I'm really surprised the rail golem wasn't a bigger cost model. After seeing it I thought we were looking at a 10-14ss model to give the arcanists something on par with Nekima or Killjoy. Was a bit disappointed to find out it was another 8-9ss model, which the arcanists already have. I guess the arcanists do have Snowstorm but can you really see using him/them with anyone but rasputina? It's pretty heavily themed, like so many of her troops.
  3. Considered that or taking a malifaux raptor but neither really grabbed me. Also couldn't think of a good option for the heffalump.
  4. Here's the list: Neverborn Crew - 55 - Brawl Zoraida, the Hag -- 7 Pool Som'er Teeth Jones Von Schill [10ss] Hooded Rider [8ss] Iggy [6ss] Mature Nephilim [10ss] Piglet [4ss] Teddy [9ss] Young Nephilim [6ss] Why? Iggy- Christopher Robin Teddy- Pooh Piglet-Piglet (duh) Hooded Rider- Eeyore Mature Nephilim- Kanga Young Nephilim- Roo And Schill? Schill is Tigger, of course. The wonderful thing about Schilly Schilly's a wonderful thing His top is completely hard a$$ his bottom is made out of springs
  5. Marcus and the raptor can give Beast. Necrotic Machine can give Undead. Chiaki (I think) can make an undead Living. Is there anyway currently to give a model Construct?
  6. Yeah I plan to add an additional tactic about wicked doll support. They make excellent follow up support after a strike.
  7. I've got a decent amount of neverborn (dreamer, zoraida, and collodi box sets plus daydreams, voodoo doll, teddy, and doppelganger with an alternative widow weaver in the mail) plus a decent amount of outcasts (ophelia, som'er, and freikorps box sets) and a tiny bit of arcanists (kaeris box plus a razorspine rattler, and an alternate model for Ramos which can also work for McMourning in a pinch). Have no good way to transport them or even store them currently so very interested in hearing what has worked for others...
  8. I see your point but since the idea is a collodi tactica I'm focused on what they'd bring to him and his forces in particular.
  9. We have a tiny (less than 1") Barbie Dancing Princesses DVD case/toy that often gets used as an objective.
  10. Because the cardinal rule of rules is that they should be as simple as possible while maintaining the desired balance. Things that don't make sense are automatically not clear by running contrary to intuition. Given that there is a much simpler and clearer rule that would accomplish the same goal (using a gun in melee) that works the way intuition suggests it should, an which is simpler overall...why wouldn't you use it?
  11. I did notice that in the push errata but didn't trust that I was reading it right. That is pretty sweet that it's basically a place effect now.
  12. That's what I'm saying. He's artillery who may assimilate something useful, not a doppelgänger with a gun.
  13. Let's Talk Totems- Model Choice What's that you say, Collodi can never know the sweet bliss of a totem? Not so. In any game where he's acting as henchman to another Master he can attach a totem and get the benefits thereof. When henching for neverborn masters, Collodi can attach the Primordial Magic, Malifaux Child, or Student of Conflict. When working for Leveticus Collodi has the rather bizarre choice of the Necrotic Machine or the Grave Spirit. *shrug* So let's talk totems. The Malifaux Child is easily the most thematic, which is pretty cool, but it does very little for Collodi otherwise. The only (1) spell of Collodi's that will routinely be of use is Breathe Life. The Malifaux Child will need 12+ of masks to cast it. Not great. The Child lacks any ability to keep up with Collodi. It has no combat ability to speak of. Primordial Magic...uh actually I don't know as for some reason it isn't in the PDF o the first book models (or not in mine anyway). Generally speaking I believe it has a much better ability to cast Breathe Life but still has no ability to keep up with Collodi which limits usefulness. It could stay with Stitched or Effigies to provide support to these slower troops. Student of Conflict...same case as the Primordial Magic. Anyone know where to get its stats? As I understand it SoC can provide fast to Collodi as an All action. That's nice but again without an ability to keep up it's not terribly useful. Necrotic Machine...is interesting. It's cheap, has a nasty poison trigger. Essentially, if it gets the trigger, it's total damage is 8/8/10 over the course of 3 turns. It's casting is nothing special, but it a pretty nasty combat minion for 2ss. Grave Spirit...is actually also kind of interesting. It's main benefit of granting armor to an undead doesn't work for Collodi. On the other hand it can keep up due to link and so may be a better extra buffer through Magical Extension for the little dollies...except it's casting sucks. In a pinch it could use a soulstone to cast a badly needed buff. It is only 1ss. Overall totem options aren't must takes but can in cases offer a little flexibility for a small investment or an unexpected form of attack (as with the necrotic machine's horrific poison). 19/20 games you probably won't take one but keep it in mind.
  14. Breath of Life (Collodi) says "Target friendly doll and one additional friendly doll per mask in the casting cost total gain one of the following: Melee Expert, Ranged Expert, or Castin Expert." Here's the question, let's say I cast it and the casting total allows me to target 2 dolls. Can I target the same doll twice? If you could give both ranged expert and casting expert to an arcane effigy (and maybe fast) you could turn it into quite the little blaster, but my guess is you need two casts of BoL to get that to work.
  15. Are you sitting down? Okay. The world does not revolve around C. Hoffman. I'm sorry to have to do that to you. Glad to see that "permassimilate" is catching on, though.
  16. If you mean Schill, that was my inability to hit the right choice on the crew creator, was meant to be molly. Fixed now.
  17. Ressurectionists Crew - 30 - Scrap Dr. Douglas McMourning -- 6 Pool Molly Squidpiddge [9ss] Bête Noire [9ss] Canine Remains [2ss] Canine Remains [2ss] Crooked Man [4ss] Rotten Belles [4ss] McMourning has been tolerating the vacuous Ms. Squidpidge's presence while he researches reanimation techniques on one of the latest guild mine accidents. While returning to his local hidden lab he comes across a guild party. It's critical that the dogs of orthodoxy not find his work, so well he'll just have to kill any of them that come near. Molly meanwhile sense a familiar presence through the Gorgon's Tear- Bete hovers nearby, waiting blood, waiting to kill. Okay the idea is to use the crooked man for area denial. That plus the dogs will try to stop the enemy from planting evidence. If the dogs catch something they can kill they will, if they fail then Bete comes out to play. Meanwhile McMourning and Molly try to kill enemy leaders. If necessary Molly will use philosophy of uncertainty to get the job done. Molly's maid in waiting, the rotten belle will pull models out of position, into the waiting jaws of dogs, the pits of the crooked man, or the scalpel of the good doctor. Schemes: Assassinate on enemy master, announced. Encourages the enemy to stay away which completes my strategy. Hold out/extermination/kill protege...depending on what the guild player brings.
  18. Forget assimilate, it's a gimmick. Well Armored Self Healing Automatic Grenade Launcher With Legs. That's worth 8ss.
  19. Okay there are two different parts: (0) Retract says "Push this model into base contact with a friendly Collodi" According to the FAQ pushes do not have to be straight towards the target unless they say "towards." So as long as there exists some path for you to push to whatever side of Collodi you want you are allowed to. see this pic in the errata: http://malifaux.com/Errata.php#PushSec the other is (1) Pull Strings which says "...Move a friendly Collodi into base contact with this model after the move..." Now it would be clearer here if they'd said "push" instead of "move" but it seems like the same principle applies. It never says you have to move him directly towards the marionette only that you move it into base contact.
  20. Getting punched in the face by a Peacekeeper, for one... ---------- Post added at 05:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:01 PM ---------- Neverborn players will be very happy to take the AEs off your hands (and use them against you to great effect)
  21. Not to mention that ranged attackers is something ressers don't have a lot of.
  22. Sad to say I'm a lot more interested in the shang than misaki.
  23. I'd like it better the other way, with collodi having to kill enemies (or living allies) to make his dolls, harder but more thematic.
