  2. I'll be running a league at York Garrison starting on Feb 27th and running for 6 weeks. The format of the league is a slightly odd one in that it is an achievement based league with elements of escalation. The idea is that it will be that players will 'level up' each week and unlock a new list of possible achievements. The rules pack isn't online yet as my broadband is currently broken (hopefully I'll be able to get it up tomorrow) but all you'll need to know for week 1 is that crew selection is limited to a starter box (plus totem if they're not included). Cost is £3 per player with 100% going into the prize pot. This will be a beginner friendly event so please feel free to pop along if you're new to the game. Further details can be found on the York Garrison forum (http://yorkgarrison.co.uk/index.php/forum7?view=topic&catid=38&id=8702&start=6#8763).
  3. At the request of a club member, I will be running a demo evening at the Pennine Raiders Club in Halifax next Wednesday (March 6th). Details of the club can be found on their website (pennineraiders.com), pop down and take a look if you're in the area.
  4. My internet has gone the way of the dodo again
  5. If you're including the malifaux child and bishop, shouldn't hans get and honourable mention? For actual ressers I think the rogue necro deserves consideration, purely from a value for money point of view, especially if there's no grave spirit to make him more survivable. Guild autopsies definitely below on the list but I'm not sure I agree on crooligans, the few times I've played against them they've been a real pain (hopefully Jon won't read this!). I'd also disagree with rafkin in certain crews but in a seamus crew he would be overcosted. Also, what about things like seshin, they don't really do much and if they're not in a kirai crew I don't see what use they'd be.
  6. I'll eagerly await the discussion about getting a lift
  7. Good luck with the application, would be good to see another Yorkshire henchman. York Garrison are always up for a club challenge, they're always good for upping the local interest (I also run tourneys and stuff in York). If you want a hand with anything just DM me your email address.
  8. Sorry fellas, I'll be coming. I'll see if any more York guys are up for it too.
  9. You have no idea how much this is true!
  10. I can try and get Baby Jake out of retirement
  11. If a greased pig was released into the Wyrd offices, who would be most likely to catch it, Nathan or Eric?
  12. Sam Hopkins, please god Sam Hopkins! It's the only model in Malifaux that I hate that there isn't an alt sculpt for. I'd like to see a plastic peacekeeper too, I love the current model but building/transporting can be interesting. I'd also like to see multipart plastics for stuff you need a few of like bayou gremlins and gamin, just so each mini can look unique.
  13. Very nice, good colour selection and really like the base.
  14. Growing in Yorkshire too. I've just run some Malifaux stuff at a convention and it was the 2nd biggest event there and outsold all GW games.
  15. I've never had a mandatory painting requirement at any tourney I've run so to be consistent withthe Vassal equivalent, there'll be no painting requirement. I can make it mandatory that games are played on a colour screen if that helps ---------- Post added at 01:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:05 PM ---------- There'll be more coming on this side of things later in the week
  16. I'd make an argument for scheme selection. I guess that could be a sub-section of mistakes but incorrect scheme selection can pretty much lose you a game before you even start.
  17. I suspect our playing styles are quite similar so I'd recommend Lady J, Lilith or the Viks as good places to start. The new Misaki box is pretty good for beating face too.
  18. Agreed but I'll sort out specific wording. The original intension of that bit was to stop podcasts only using their power gamer to represent them (e.g. the Malifools using Mike) to try and place them higher than they should be. I'll give this some thought and get back to you. I'll keep an eye on the 20% ruling and see how many are effected by it. This may get adjusted to either a %age or number depending on the number of episode put out to date (although only Malifaux episode can count, none of that 40k rubbish!). ---------- Post added at 01:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:57 PM ---------- Agreed
  19. Brace yourself for part 1! Entrants Each podcast can include as many hosts as they wish with a minimum of 2. A host is defined as someone that has appeared on at least 20% of the released episodes. Show sponsors could also be included in the teams, subject to the same hiring restrictionse.g. Byron from Element Games could potentially represent the Bayou Broadcast if they've sponsored 20% of episodes (they are after all helping make these podcasts happen). Rounds For each round, each podcast will be paired up with another. The teams will have a fixed amount of time (at the moment 2 weeks seems likely) to play as many of the opposing hosts as possible. If you end up playing the same opponent multiple times, only the score of the first game against them will count. Arranging games will be left up to the individuals involved, I'm sure people can manage to arrange their own games (this allows more flexibility for working around time differences and commitments). At the end of each round, results will be submitted to me and an average score will be worked out for each team (to allow for differences in numbers). I'll then sort out the next round matchups until everyone has played each other. Trophy I've had an idea for a trophy that will need some input from the entrants. The plan is to do something similar to the Ashes that is a cricket trophy. The theory is that everyone sends me something (e.g. a card, stat card, etc) to burn and the ashes of everyone's stuff will be sealed into the trophy. This competition can then be repeated on an annual basis and the trophy move between podcasts as appropriate. There'll be more coming later in the week as I get more time to type things up.
  20. Started listening to this during the walk to work this morning, had to turn it off as I was laughing too much at the Jan stories and probably looked mental. Looking forward to listening to more later!
  21. A good way of getting a good effect is a bit of MDF with holes in it and trees on separate round bases. You can then texture and paint both the forest floor and the tree bases and put the tree bases in the holes. You get a really nice looking wood but with the functionality of being able to remove the trees individually if needed. You can also put a thin piece of wood or plasticard underneath the forest floor so you can paint/texture in the holes so it still looks good with the trees removed.
  22. I've already agreed to run it again next year ---------- Post added at 01:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:06 PM ---------- Any feedback people have on the new strategies, please could you email it to me at guildmonkee@gmail.com. I know Adam was debating using them for the Harrogate tourney on 10/03 so it might help preempt questions if there's an FAQ document available.
  23. I was speaking to Craig at the weekend and we sorted out a few bits. Expect more details on this later in the week.
