  1. We'd love to have you over here and get some games in :-) I'm sure we can provide some entertainment.
  2. I love the pink sash! I really wish I had thought of that, it looks perfect! White for the color of death, and then a beautiful pink to remind one of the spring cherry blossoms! It's perfect! I also noticed that the paint job for the studio Kirai is very reminiscent of the Arizona Tea geisha...
  3. I actually got to meet Zee at Gen Con, I cannot say enough good things about the guy :-) Very enthusiastic, with a love for the game that is just infectious. Not only that, he knew where people were coming from when they came to Malifaux and was even able to peg that I used to play War Machine. It was a delight to be able to show him those in person.
  4. Thanks guys :-) Yea, the base is finished more or less. Before the morgue bases were released I wanted to get my hands on some, so I decided to experiment with molding my own. I actually used the grate on the back of my PC's power supply to make this one. I had also run out of inserts at the time and it seemed like a good enough excuse as any. Maybe I'll pick up some Morgue Accessories at Gen Con and throw a few on there Zee is indeed the man, it's good to know Wyrd has strong customer service to back up their line of beautiful minis.
  5. Here's how the story goes. Several months ago, probably around May, before the Malifaux fervor hit in full I had sat down at my desk to assemble some Necropunks. I discovered that they weren't quite there, which is to say that the arms were missing. After a brief moment of sadness I appealed to Wyrd customer service. The reply came from Zee who requested some information as well as a few pictures. I supplied the desired info and a few days later I received an email from him telling me that the missing parts were on the way. Several days following that, I did indeed get them (fortunately McMourning wasn't around to nab them from me yet). I felt a little bad when I saw that Zee/Wyrd had paid $8.00 to ship me a small package of arms, and I resolved to make it up to him! So here they are! Burning the midnight oil and exploring the madness of sleep deprivation, my set of Necropunks. I wish to dedicate this paint job to Zee for the great customer service he provided to me. Thanks Zee! I can only hope that my humble skills have managed to express my appreciation for Wyrd. I'll see you guys Thursday morning!
  6. Thanks for the compliment :-) I'm always happy to pass on whatever knowledge I have. I think the natural light bulb does a lot to help capture the way the colors fall, but even with that it's still different to see them in person.
  7. For the lovely Jaslyne, my picture taking setup
  8. I use a simple trick for taking my pictures. I use a piece of computer paper leaned against something with the miniature sitting near the "bottom" of the page, which creates a nice white background. For lighting I use my painting lamp, which has a natural light bulb (I got it for $30 approx at Office Depot). What you want to do is get as much light coming from the front as possible. A flash is likely to wash out some of the details and over-brighten (new word?) some of the colors. I'll see if I can post a pic of my setup later.
  9. Looking good so far :-) Yog Sothoth will be watching B-) ~Ia
  10. My first WIP.....Ok yea I know I'm cheating. I am vigorously finishing up my painting for Gen Con as I am in two tournaments, and poor Raspy has to wait just a little longer. My goal with this crew is to go at a slower pace, spend more time and see if I can add more detail and try out new techniques with each model.
  11. I've gotta try out some different finishes :-\ Maybe my Vallejo Game Colors Matt Varnish
  12. Togashi is a family name for the Dragon Clan from the RPG Legend of the Five Rings made by AEG. The color scheme you have (green and gold) is the color scheme that the Dragon clan uses, and they just so happen to have a family (The Togashi, and Hoshi,) that are very well known for their exotic tattoos
  13. The mini was washed once already following the drybrushing, but I have had some bad luck with sealers :-\ I prefer to have a matte finish to avoid things being too shiney, what kind do you use? Also, I welcome more tips/tricks!
  14. I would like that very much :-) I've got a lot of good skills/techniques, I just have to bring them together more and take a deep breath and try something new (it's so scary!)
  15. Splendid job! Very pleasing and easy on the eyes, something you can easily get lost in :-) I don't suppose his name is Togashi by any chance?
  16. Thanks! I wanted to go for a darker skin tone that was more of a "too much fun in the sun for too many days" kind of look. A sort of permanent dark tan. I'm happy with the results :-)
  17. I do have a lot of issues to work out with my techniques definitely. I agree on the dry brushing, and there's been so much of it going on in order to get my stuff ready for Gen Con. Some of my stuff I'm not happy with. After Gen Con when the pressure to have everything painted is off (I started Malifaux mid to late Apr) I plan to take a steadier pace. I appreciate the feedback :-) I have some street lamps that I've been wanting to try the OSL with
  18. Steal away! :-) I have a hard time thinking of stealing it so much as being inspired by. The best way for us to become better is by learning from each other. I look forward to seeing your stuff in the Tales of project
  19. Here's my Convict Gunslinger. I'm prepping for Gen Con and only have a trio of models left to do. Hopefully those will be up shortly after they're finished.
  20. Bayushi Kachiko, is that you? I LOVE The paint job! Absolutely beautiful! I want to do another one for myself!
  21. I think a dark grey bag would work, there's a nice firey halo of hair to draw the attention up to the face. Then again the quality of the paint job is that you really have to keep looking at it to take it all in. There's so much going on that you do a double take :-) Really nice work!
  22. Now with more Shikome! Also some misc models I haven't put up yet
  23. Oh wow! I'd love to come and play on those! You're pretty much set, but if you felt the need to expand do you think you could pull together some indoor sets? These are just plain incredible!
  24. A little bit yea. I like the creepy factor, but I think I'm going to leave it as is for the time being so I can go back and have a visual reference to look at.....that and I have a lot of painting to do before Gen Con
  25. The green effect you see was unintentional. I did some drybrushing with my yellow (can't remember the color I used), and painted some straight highlights. I also used a yellow wash to add more glow. I think that the browns may have had some blue/black in them, and one thing I've encountered is when you paint yellow on black that it goes a little green.
