  1. A lot of stuff to take in. I will spend much time in meditation as there are little nuances that will have quite an impact. If you could add a bit more of a clarification that total wounds suffered by a model is the total damage dealt (as Ratty clarified in this thread: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?24756-On-damage-triggers-and-wound-prevention&p=307307#post307307 ), I believe it would help us McMourning players Another question regarding blinding flash: if Collette swaps with another showgirl who becomes the target of the attack, does this start a new duel or is the attack resolved against the new target?
  2. You make Wyrd an offer they can't refuse eh? I'm still waiting to become a made (Hench)-Man B-)
  3. Here's my take on your questions: ~ The Guardian wouldn't be able to be killed by protect since the text of the spell says that he may take the wounds that are coming at the target of his spell. As per damage rules you can't take damage from your own spell that would reduce your wounds to 0. I realize that the text in the mini rule book refers to Dmg, but if you look a little further down it uses the Punk Zombies Self Mutilate spell as an example, and that spell causes Wnds. It's a bit fuzzy, but that's my take on it. ~ Going with my previous statement makes the Kill Protege question inert. It is worth noting that Kill Protege requires one of your models to deliver the killing blow, and in a hypothetical example above they would not get it since the death would have come from the Guardian's own effect. ~ Mr. Bigglesworth has it on the Enslaved Nephilim. Technically the spell would be cast, but since the totem uses its own card and not Perdita's, he is not able to take advantage of it. This brings up the question though of does this action count as a failed cast, or is it just using up cards? Since the thing that causes the spell to fizzle isn't the lack of a requirement, just a lack of equipment.
  4. Nilus has it. Since the spell would fail none of its costs would be triggered (So Nicodem wouldn't draw the cards and Levi wouldn't take the wounds). However the AP used to cast the spell would be spent as if you had failed to fulfill the casting cost if my memory is correct. As for sportsmanship, certainly it's better to let your opponent know in a friendly game. At a tournament where the stakes are a bit higher you'll have to use your own judgement. I usually let my opponent complete the action since he might be scheming something I'm not (like sacrificing two shikome to summon a shikome with Kirai, for example). If he completes the action and I see no scheming, I politely inform him of the issue and go from there. Whatever your stance, politeness is the key :-)
  5. Welcome to Malifaux! Check your sanity at the door and enjoy your complimentary soul stone :-) Fetid got the drop on things but I also wanted to say hi! We both do a lot of painting and bang heads together a lot. The Gopher has a lot of new players showing up and it'd be great if you joined us. Whether you're looking for fun games or something more intense I'm sure we can set you up with a variety of opponents. Feel free to drop us a PM :-)
  6. It wouldn't be the first time, and a 2-hour drive is nothing when you do 2 hours or more regularly for work. Then again, if you do 200 miles a day, 5 days a week, doing it again on the weekend loses some of it's sparkle. That being said it's become dangerous to think about Gen Con because then I want to go and play again! I had so much fun last year. I might even see if I can't coax my partner in crime, Fetid Strumpet, to come along as well.
  7. I keep going back and forth on whether or not I can afford Gen Con. I want to come out and compete but it'll either be a strain on the pocket book or a strain to drive there and back from Champaign (a 2 hour drive) in a day.
  8. Mr. Bigglesworth has it. On the card itself Massive Dose says the model receives one effect. Those effects have different pros/cons, but it's all lumped under one name. Shrug off says to get rid of one effect, which if used on a massive dose effect would remove Painkillers, Speed, or Stimulant, along with their benefits/penalties Apologies to Mr. Bigglesworth, you have the right of it. I just felt that a little elaboration would help clear things up.
  9. Off the top of my head? Dead Entertainment, otherwise I got nuthin'
  10. I see this ending with a lot of Malifaux players and Wyrd employees standing around wearing monocles and top hats swirling brandy glasses and looking all classy.
  11. I heartily agree! I was out of steam on Sunday because I got out of the story tourney as late as I did. I should've just taken a night to cool off. The drive home was a tad treacherous.
  12. You and I have a common cause; though I wonder if a rematch might fry my circuits completely. I support this building of a team and request to join, otherwise Fetid Strumpet and I may build our own team! But then we'd need to make a podcast as well.
  13. I can't get over how awesome the Pig Cake was! Delicious and wonderfully made. The real winner that night was all who tasted delicious Pig Cake, which tasted more like vanilla cake than bacon, but that's part of the fun.
  14. It would have been a VERY different story ;-) No matter how you cut it, that game really tested my mettle, win or lose, and will stand out for many games to come :-)
  15. I love the amount of thought/background that went into the board, it was the first board I played on and I had a lot of fun with it! The only suggestion/request I could make is to put some more touches on the building portions. Lichen, scones, stains, or graffiti. They were looking lonely. And Nilus has promised to shanghai me to help with terrain last year if I'm not careful.
  16. The sewer board was pretty cool to play on! The "buildings" were not attached and could be removed. The difficult part was the grating across the center. While you could fit a Seishin/Ht 1 model underneath there were some complications getting them in/out. The corridors were a bit narrow and you almost had to move the buildings to get them. That being said there were some nice little touches to really bring it to life, like rats running around in the sewer water.
  17. I think there needs to be a follow up with a battle report
  18. By Nytmare do you mean Mydnight? The guy playing McM with The Von? That game was EPIC! Win or lose don't enter into it, there was smoke coming up from both our brains by the end of the match @_@ If there is another member named Nytmare then that would be two games in the finals that were incredible!
  19. Awesome con, I had a great time and maybe next year I can help with a bit more of the work :-) Also, you have not tasted true awesome until you've had pig cake. PIG CAKE!!!
  20. There weren't a lot of Neverborn there definitely. I found myself pitted against 2 Guild players in the Friday Qualifier, Guild again at Saturday Story event followed by Zoraida and Ophelia. Sunday I got knocked out first round by Viks in a VERY intense/close game.
  21. You mean the one who could perforate ear drums of unsuspecting players who walk in front of you with poor timing? ;-) @Swizz: Welcome to the game! I don't know if you saw me floating around, but I was the guy wearing the Fedora.
  22. I ended up going back to Adepticon and was able to track down my camera. I also managed to make it home safe and sound. Good times had by all!
  23. To anyone left at the Finals on Sunday, I left my digital camera at the tourney area behind the table. If anyone saw it or picked it up I'd like it back please ;_; It has pics from the cake tourney on there, it's a Canon. I'll post more details when I'm back at home and can figure out what model as I'm sleep deprived at the moment. I'll pay shipping to get it back. ;_;
  24. I've been using the two so far and they definitely make a combo (Kaeris and Raspy). The big thing I've noticed is that Kaeris only has one spell that is not dependent on your opponents models having a burning token, and that spell is firewall. Having Fire Gamins available to throw down some more burning tokens will help maximize Kaeris' efficiency. I also share your opinion on the Student of Conflict, but I have one and need to get him ready and try it out before I can say for sure. Kaeris having fast would be wonderful, but @ 4 stones it's also rather pricey. WindlordRyu has a point though, it's not just Kaeris who would benefit from it, and the only person who might complain about another round of cursing from December would be your opponent.
  25. Be careful Kirai doesn't take offense ;-) Looks great!
