  1. I get packs of lipped bases fro Spirit Games which I use for lots of things since I first found discovered them playing warmachine several years ago. they are £1.10 for 10 30mm or 6 40mm or 4 50mm. I generally have plenty to hand should I have a mispack which I havent for malifaux or I drop the dratted thing whilst opening the blister which I do quite a bit.
  2. White & paint directly on that & wash very dark brown to give low lights.
  3. for those of you who can make it to Burton Upon Trent I will be trailing an RPG game based in the Malifaux world using an adaptation of Basic role playing. in the near future. I have a character generation session planed for the 9th of February this year. I will keep folks posted
  4. If you are in the UK I recommend figures in comfort you can by individual trays which fit in GW sized cases & Really Useful boxes which come in a wide range of sizes which will fit such trays in. Are light and tough as well as being readily avalible
  5. Can I second that ans given I have the Viki box set Sue & a desperate mercenary
  6. Sonia Ramos & the Victoria's the fist two to see how long they avoid falling out let alone blasting each other & the Victorias cos with the other too in the room I need to hire some protection.
  7. I do want a fixed crew for demo & loan purposes even if I have a 50 point crew which I pare down to 35 to play with
  8. There will be crews avalible to borrow if you want to try the game or if you dont have your crews with you at all times ;o
  9. Spirit Games will be running a Malifaux demo on Saturday 7th of January Where Spirit Games 114-115 Station Street Burton upon Trent Staffordshire. DE14 1BX Time 11am to 5pm for more details salnphil@spiritgames.co.uk
  10. All booked till the end of January the dates for January being Tuesday 3rd January Tuesday 10th January Tuesday 17th January Tuesday 24th January Tuesday 31st January You are more than welcome to drop in & have a game
  11. I am finding the what to put in a Mercenary crew a bit chalenging
  12. as an aside Given the size of most Malifaux boards 2'x2' or 3'x3' and the size of the deployment zones relative to this why are people so worried about speed except in some games where token recovery is a feature in which case you have something fast in the crew just to do that or dont chose those as objectives. I believe every crew has something you can use as "cavalry" which is why I have two packs of guild hounds & am looking at somthing I can use with Rasputina for the same role
  13. Very nice work indeed love to see other peoples creativity & evil ideas they inspire me.
  14. I wish I still had the English Civil War figures I painted with artists acrylics just after I started using them they where horrid. I had leaned to paint fairly well with enamels & oil paints but didn't thin them any where enough amongst other things. Keep your old stuff it will convince you, you are improving
  15. More henchmen generally would be a great idea as we have plenty of masters but only one henchman per faction except the outcasts & I dont feel that works for most of the factions. Well any except the guild frankly
  16. Would have edited the above but cant see where the button is to do this I have just checked this on the Malifaux crew builder & I am suprised you cant use Von Schill as a henchman in a scrap crew & Sue this is a bit annoying as a Victoria's mercenary crew is the next on my list. I have the starter box reserved at Spirit Games & am thinking what to add to it. Von Schill would have been the perfect answer and Sue especially if you get the reference is very cool. Curses foiled again
  17. Check it with the Crew builder its the only way & Von Schill should work with the Victorias I would have thought.
  18. I am always rather nervous when I am applying Matt varnish to my figures & rather with wish it would go out of fashion & I could stop at the gloss coat like we had to before there was mat varnish. I may try to start a campaign - SHINY FIGURES ARE COOL even if they are very difficult to photograph
  19. Indeed I have them in prospect because one of my regular opponents has just got a Pigapult & I run Sonia so flame grilled bacon :flame:
  20. Sadly not from experience the thing that hurts them is doing the "impossible" then they accuse you of cheating and it all goes down hill from there By impossible I mean with an army they consider rubbish such as my all infantry WWI Belgium themed Imperial guard, no tanks hardly any heavy weapons and some cavalry & the stuff they thought at Sandhurst called small unit tactics - so the trick with Malifaux would be to do it with a crew which was mostly out of a starter box & contains additional figures they dont rate but are perfectly good if you use them in the right conditions
  21. If the gloss and the matt varnish is Acrylic & I belive all Vallejo is then you are not going to be able to strip it alone as any thing you use will likly attack both layers. If the under layer was say Polyurethane varnish then you might be able to do something. The problem is all matt Varnish dulls the paint its painted over & the only way of reducing this is to use a very thin (watered down) coat indeed which is no use for protecting the figure, hence the gloss coat, its just to give the figure a matt finish. I hope that helps a bit
  22. Terifying is only an area denial effect & doesn't out range the gremlins massed fire power & dead terifying creatures cease to be terrifying
  23. All & every sort of wargame is infested to some extent by this sort of individual to some extent, though they do tend to like tournament games more than others. Don't join them & dont try to beat them at their own game, it doesn't work they are impervious any criticism or humiliation.
