  1. We have War Geisha's and a crazy Gremlin Merc...
  2. Well, I haven't played many games with Ophelia as the master yet, But my mani crew is S'omer and the Gremlins and both won and lost some games with various crew builds. 1) Som'er Teeth is rubbish without mosquitoes Skeeters are Damn useful for S'omer. I wouldn't say he's completely rubbish without them but I would say take them whenever possible. Their CA makes many spells tough to pull off (IMHO) so they're flying gas bag's spaming "Soooeeeyyyy" for a pig stampede or "pull My Finger" 2) Lots of gremlins (in general) are rubbish without Ophelia Even without having Ophelia on the board I've managed to pull of wins with alot of Gremlins (summoned through "get your Bro" mostly), with Deliverence and Y'all Watch this keeping my opponent away from my objectives. 3) Pigs may or may not be rubbish Depends who you ask. Some people can use pigs real well, some people have difficulty getting past their Insignificance nature. I tend to use them for Stampede's (game against Sonnia saw one piglet as the MVP, charging and pushing her and her crew away from my objective and killing 4 guys.) The trick is knowing how to control their stampede, or using them as a utility model. Truffles helps shuffle your Gremlins around, and with a Hog Whisperer on board, casting "Bacon" when your pig is sitting right on an objective can be a nice little trick. 4) Slop Haulers are a 'must include' Agreed, unless you're lobbing models from a distance with Pigapult. 5) Young LaCroix are a 'must include' if you take Ophelia my experience is lacking here to give a good answer, sorry. 6) In smaller fights (25ss) take Ophelia and the LaCroix and forget Som'er I started with S'omer in 25ss fights. He's not bad, though Ophelia is a better choice with the nature of her crews. S'omer just depends on a lot of models running around (hired or through summonings), and in smaller games it can be tricky to summon a decent force without some good defence/offense already on the board. The best advice with gremlin's is try a few different combinations and see what fits for you. Gremlins are the "fun" crew of Malifaux that people don;t expect to win, have the fun is being horribly destructive to your enemies forces and seeing the surprise on their face when they realize how much they underestimated the bayou fol.
  3. Alright, Damn. I could have taken out a lot of rezzers then. Thanks for the feedback guys, i'll have to keep that in min.
  4. Hey all, so this questions cam up during a recent game of Gremlin's VS. Nicodem. Ncodem cast "Rigor Mortis" on poor Pere Ravage (who was down to one wound left) before moving away and having Mortimer dispatch poor Pere without Pere going "Kablooey" and doing a pulse of damage. Now is this correct? Does paralyzing a model mean that non-AP abilities can not be taken as well? any help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Well, I'm no expert yet, but I've played a lot of games against a variety of masters now with old S'omer (only one with Ophelia and crew so far), and went from losing every game to winning my last few in a row, if not getting damn close. I've only don one 40 point list with Ophelia, Rami, and Raphael combined with S'omer's box, so I can't say much on that I think. I use a warpig in all my games so far. It took me a while to figure how best to utilize him (my other crew was Ramos, so i kept thinking Warpig=Steamborg. Waaaayyy Wrong). The key is to get him far out and let him stampede if your looking for damage. If not, I use him as a meat shield (my opponents seem to focus a lot of fire power out on him, keeping my other guys alive to complete objectives.), or send him to capture or achieve objectives for some VP points. Hog Whisper is crucial to him. I play in the same gamer circle as Halflingspy (another forum user), and he pointed out his worry that I might get another Warpig to run two at once. I have yet to do it, but the thought is enough to spark psych warfare in him I run the Taxidermist alot with S'omer. Against Rezzers (one of our regular players has all the rezzer masters) he can be used to deny valuable corpse counters (pick them up or turn them to stuffed piggies) which means alot when you're Gremlins VS Nicodem. The actual Stuffed Piggies effectiveness depends on who you're playing against. I don't worry much about them or even taking the taxidermist if I'm facing Hoffman (his damper arability generally ignores all bacon bombs), and seem to be best as crown control against undead, or smaller, non construct crews. Coupled with the Pigapult, the 'dermist adds a better long range damage control that may keep your opponents looking for cover, but unless you target models close together doesn't seem too worth it. And as a final note, my last three games a single piglet stampeding has caused my opponent the most grief and pretty much won me the game. I utilize Piglets in a multitude of ways with S'omer and a Whisper. They can Truffle and get your Gremlins an extra move, provide another source for summoning a gremlin (Whisper's "Bacon!" spell, which brings the summoned gremlin in with full health, great to cast when you ran a piglet up right to an objective marker.), a source for summoning Skeeters, a (costly) objective tackler if you manage to cast "Root around", a chaotic force if they stampede into your opponents, and another mini for your enemies crew to strike at instead of S'omer or more important minions.
  6. Well, in my experience, Skeeters become a prime target for other players who have seen them in action. If your playing S'omer's crew, you can utilize the skeeters while building up piggies (pig heavy list). Gremlin players should be used to sacrificing models for the sake of the game (how many "Y'all watch this" Bacon Bombs, or Kamikaze attacks from Pere have we utilized) so getting the Skeeters in quickly to do their thing, then clearing them off the board for a manifestation isn't too unreasonable, it just depends on the player's tactics. Still waiting to hear more on his Avatar, but looking at Peaches, I can;t help but have the feeling it's going to have a slight bit of synergy with the Piggies (probably lose "Get yer Bro" for more hog specific actions). Though, I could be wrong, and it could just be S'omer on a war-pig.
  7. What, no love for the Hog Boss?
  8. If you start losing, get bad flips, or do something that makes everyone ask "WTF", just say "Gremlin Tactics". works for me.
  9. Cheaper than most mini games. Original setting & story. Fast turns compared to most. Not a kill-them-all-to win, which makes strategies and tactics to win.
  10. Salutations! Nice to see another NY player. I'm NY bound as well (Kingston NY), but I used to live upstate in Saratoga.
  11. Playing mostly Gremlins latley (just finished the LaCroix crew) and only occasionally Ramos, I tend to hate all Masters Jk, really my three are: :perdita for the sam ereasons as many hear. I've only played her once, but looking at her card, she seems built pretty heavy (not broken) in terms of the amount of abilities and everything. Compared to my masters, she has a lot of ability options which can decimate my crews. :colette she is tough to crack i the right hands, between all her abilities (plus the free soulstone), Cassandra (who is ALWAys with her from what I've seen) being a combat demon, and the dueting corphyee that dance death threw my guys, and are nigh impossible to kill. not sure on a third, possibly Nicodem, just because when playing against a player with all the undead models, thats a huge range of summoned beasts. Never sure what's going to pop out of the ground at me.
  12. Wow, did not realize just how big Nekima was...
  13. yeah, My gremlins are grey. I play Night Goblins with Warhammer FB, so I've done the goblin green paint scheme far too often. Plus, though green is one of the few colours I can see, my gf keeps trying to tell me I can;t, and that I only see Grey. Bit of an inside joke there. Pigapult is still being worked on. Next time I do photos though, I'm going to work with a light box, the lighting's terrible on most of these.
  14. I should probably add that I hate painting, I'm colourblind and have very shaky hands.
  15. So, along time ago I joined the forums, posted a bit, and said i'd come back with pictures of my crew. Since then I've ghosted the forums, without contributing. That ends today. Now, after almost a year, I can finally show something off My gremlin (with an Uncle Sam themed Jones) and part of my Ramos Crew, the steamborg Hank, (after a story in one of the weird chronicles). My Pig-a-pult Part of my Ramos/hoffman shared crews. Hank
  16. I'd love to see another wester-gunslinger crew option as Outcast. Don't get me wrong, the gremlin's are cool, but having a good old, classic outlaw crew would be nice. Not straight gunfighters of course, gotta have a little bit of that Wyrd-ness in there (Darktower-style gunslingers maybe?)
  17. Looking around at Battle Reports, pics of Ramos mastered crews, and just reading her rules, there does seem to be an advantage to having Alyce with Ramos. I've been considering getting a Leveticus crew (though some conversion/alt work for a character idea I have), but I don;t know if I'd hire Alyce onto my Ramos crew. I'm trying to stick more with constructs (I like the scientist theme both he and Hoffman offer) for Ramos, though have looked at adding a Arcanist Gunsmith to the crew myself. Talking with a friend and fellow Acranist player (Colette & showgirls), he's plotting a duo-mastered Ramos & Colette crew for Brawls, and plans on taking the toolkit totem choice to put Ramos in a heal/repair position for the most part.
  18. As a relativley new Ramos player (and player of the game in general) I've been going back and forth on this myself. I scratch built a Brass Arachnid using greenstuff and played my first game with him. He managed to kill a Canine Remains (saw Blade, a Rotting Belle (Electrical ray via Ramos), and reactivate Ramos Twice. I'm working on a toolkit, but the casting bonus compared to chance of reactivating seems an easy choice to make.
  19. Ahhh,l another Mageknight veteran I see. I am indeed in good company.
  20. So I've been lurkin' around these forums for a while and figured that I should probably make go about intruducing myself. I'm a lon time minatures player from New York. I started out with Battletech waaaaay back, then moved onto Warhammer (FB & 40k)since the 90's, and then discovered (and was a Judge) for Mageknight, before Wizkids killed it off (R.I.P.). Some friends actually discovered Malifaux and began playing it before I knew what the hell it was. After watching a few games and flipping through the rule book I knew I had to get into it myself. As a fan of both HG Wells and HP Lovecraft, it was an obvious choice. I currently have a Ramos crew in progress and plans on Hoffman later on. I'm the type of minatures gamer who loves conversion work so I already have a Large Arachnid, Peacekeeper, Hunter and Gaurdian planned. Having played Atlantis Guild with Mageknight, i have plenty of mechanical looking bits to chop up as bitz. Looking forward to seeing how Malifaux grows as a community and a game!
