  1. Hey, I never said Marcus' crew was weak! I think Marcus is one of the more powerful crews in the game, frankly. I say he's lower tier because there's absolutely no defined direction to his playstyle, meaning a lot of players are left in the dark with what to do, so they'll eventually be drawn to the styles of other crews they enjoy, which doesn't fit the way he works, so he becomes bad to them. With risk of sounding like a bigot, Marcus is the lowest tier because most people who encounter him are not skilled enough to use him in the scope required for his success. Whereas someone like Pandora has a very clear cut 'this is how I do this, this is why I have this spell, these models work great with me, and hey, if you can't quite figure it out in your first game, that's fine, I have a lot of defensive capabilities' stat-spread, Marcus absolutely does not. If it weren't for the Forums, people wouldn't even think of using things like the Moleman or Lawyer, period. So that's my piece. On Marcus.
  2. So what do you UK lads think of the Stitched Together? I couldn't find it anywhere on your list.
  3. I don't think I was wholly prepared for the conversation, in all honesty. I wasn't expecting the pace at which the discussion was held. It was very well structured and the only deviant on the topic at hand was myself, which I only realized how much I drifted from point to point after I listened to it with my ladypal. I also did a very poor job of being directly on the point I was trying to make, which, after hearing how Zephir and Nix carried themselves, I absolutely think I need to work on the composure of my speech. It was my very first Podcast and it wasn't quite as I expected, but I enjoyed being on it and I'll do much better the next time I show up on the radar.
  4. Wow I interrupted you a lot, I'm sorry! If you ever have me again, I'll make sure to keep my sound up so I don't do that anymore.
  5. I totally was expecting you to post the Iron video from woodkid. You wanna talk about trippy avante garde sh- Check it out.
  6. I don't know what I think about this.
  7. I think the very essence of 'Broken' is subjective, because there's no single and absolute definition. A lot of people think Hamelin is broken if for nothing other than the many interactions in which rulings would be left ambiguous, whereas you have others such as myself who would consider a model's powerlevel on a relative scale to other models as the determining factor of broken, which many other people would equally argue for some other reason. I think people who take the suggestion of another person at whole value and disregard the game as a whole entirely are very unintuitive and more than likely weren't interested in the game to begin with, and were just using that as an excuse instead of hurting anyone's feelings.
  8. I think he's absolutely correct in pretty much everything he's said. I'm glad to see a Nicodem player utilizing Crooked Men for the rest of their card and forgoing that stupid Shafted marker. They're made more amazing with Nicodem because he can summon them. I'd strongly suggest he puts out Scheme / Strategy explanations because I'd like to see his views on how to work out specific issues. ---------- Post added at 07:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:57 AM ---------- Also, views on how to use Mindless Zombies. I think a lot of players could benefit if he dedicated a chunk of text specifically to MZ manipulation.
  9. That -2 Wp would be brutal. If this model ever came with an Addam's Family Hand, it'd be auto-include in pretty much every list ever.
  10. Models I'd strongly suggest you look into, Avatar of Dread Dead Doxy Night Terrors Onryo Dead Rider - - - - - All of these models have fairly powerful synergy with Seamus.
  11. I don't even want to sound remotely rude, but what's your reasoning behind that statement?
  12. The moment I 'got' Malifaux was after my first introductory game where I just tried to shoot everyone with anything I could and lost miserably. I took the book home (At the time there was only one) and really read into the rules and how the models were supposed to work. I'd never touched a mini before Malifaux and it really surprised me how intricate its system was. It was unique, every model was a niche for something, everyone had a reason to fight each other, balance was a thick and clear line, and many interactions were satisying enough that I could not give it up. It was perfect length for a game I'd be interested in and gave me the room to metastrategize I needed to fall madly in love. It hit me hard just how awesome and quirky some things you could accomplish were, and I worked hard to make sure I understood everything I needed to before I picked up another game. I did, it was landslide, and I was hooked. A few months later, the Seamus Tactica popped up.
  13. I always thought it had something to do with the realization that you're fighting against an undying Tyrant entity and that the hum of his Pipes is more of him explaining just how worthless you really are in the scope of things. At least it gave me a basic explanation for why those models wouldn't bother touching Hamelin, or why they must make a difficult Wp duel to hit his big bads. Kinda a "What's the point?" dealy-o. As for Seamus, I've always thought that he'd slit your neck and you're just convulsing around the battlefield trying to compose yourself against the hordes of whores before you inevitably lose your life. So in one, its the model realizing that it is worthless, In the other, its everyone else perceiving it as worthless.
  14. I think thematically, Kirai fits very well into the faction. Obviously I have issues with her in the sphere of balance, but that doesn't affect the lore aspect whatsoever. For the less thematic and more gameplay oriented female Resurrectionist, we have Molly. Who is an equally fantastic Lore character that really just falls short because she's a Support Henchmen who doesn't have all too much to Support. So if we add more toys for her, I think we'll have a very well set Female category of the faction.
  15. I'm glad to see all of the varying opinions coming out of this and it makes me happy that people are seeing different issues than the ones I've highlighted, as well as some fairly solid counter arguments. For fear of murdering this thread again, I believe my peace has been said and remains present to be dissected, and will thus do my very best to remain silent on the matter. I truly do wish I had a method of actually voicing my opinion, using my voice. Maybe in some kinda fancy pants interwebs debate. That'd be rad. But I'm pretty sure thats impossible. Anyway, I am reading both sides of this argument with an open mind.
  16. The irrisistible Slow is something I'd really try to drive home when explaining them to you. There's no Df duel, no Wp duel, no resist whatsoever. Just bam, you, yeah, your model is now slow. They can do some pretty OK damage too, if you swarm with them. Leap is obviously the most powerful thing in their movement deal. Slow to Die + Hard to Kill make them excellent for objective doodads, and if you do take a nurse and give them reactivate, you can get pretty much anywhere you need to be.
  17. Barring the Onryo and the Night Terror, because the Onryo has a use outside of Kiraiwith Seamus, and the Night Terror is a top tier objective grabber, I don't think those are accurate descriptions of Kirai's models. To start, with Shikome, They're fast, sure, and they have pretty decent damage, but that's all. And they can only deal damage to one model until that model dies, after which they're rendered useless for an entire turn. Unless you chose to forgo their (All) action, at which point you've paid 8 points for an objective grabber that isn't as good as its 3 point counterpart. And Datsue-Ba, you're spending 7 points to kill Dogs. You gain nothing from Gaki and unless you're taking a Dog-Kill plan with Seamus, Onryo don't have much use. And shame on you for killing dogs as Seamus, he kills women. Dogs are below him. Again, I just want to restate what I posted in that big giant doodad a few pages back in saying that ALL of the Spirits in Book 2 are pretty decent minions. For Kirai. And also harkening back to my post about Kirai taking up half the faction and the other half being filled with nonsense, Saying models like Seishin or Ikiryo are "Kirai specific" and then disregarding everything else doesn't really work because they take up a model spot, whereas LCB and Dreamer count, in the book, as 1 out of 12. Angelica came in the 3rd book, so I left her out. I wish there could've been a kinder air in your statement so that people would've been able to take it constructively. This is because you have the opportunity to positively impact the Company (As you're posting in a thread designated by them for criticism) and instead you go on a rampage of anger. So I'm sorry. Err, Part I; Spending 8 points for an Objective grabber? Look no further than the Night Terror! 3 Points of sheer grabby goodness, with some Ranged Counters thrown in to ensure a safe and pleasant trip! Part II; The Shikome is pretty much unstoppable, its immune to movement impairing effects, has flight, Spirit and Nimble. To add to that, it has the ability to gain Fast. That effectively a 20" movement rate per turn this model is under the effect of Single Minded. So yes, in theory you can just go in and assassinate something if you'd like. And that is pretty scary. Unfortunately, without Kirai's movement and healing shenanigans, there are just too many counters to a single assassin model that most times the Resurrectionists will forgo this model in favor of other, older and more synergetic models. While there is very little argument towards the mobility or lethality to a Shikome if it gets its way, there's no doubt that if your opponent sees a Shikome on board, they'll have a model capable of outkilling it, outmoving it, or Cuddling it to stupid. Most players will take these models for their basic usefulness with the rest of the crew and not as a specific counter to your models.
  18. As Mach 5 has already said, Stitched Together are your friends versus ranged anything. They outright strip the danger from certain crews. Also your incredible mobility should leave you relatively unscathed versus even the most deadly of AoE crews. What you did there. I see it.
  19. Totally forgot I was supposed to do everything I could to keep this thread alive. Going to play Rafkin a lot, and then Crooligans a lot more. And then do everything in my power to make them work as best as possible, And then post up everything I've learned. And yes this thread is designed specifically to breathe life into a very dead horse. Love me anyway? <33
  20. "I was once a man. Handsome, beloved... An enthralling member of society. The life I lead was that of excellency. I rose to the top of my class and worked with the most cutting edge tools of my craft. I built an empire on the blood, sweat and tears of my family as I became the most renown in my field. And then he found me, with his sickly smile, his wicked words, and that arc of insanity in his eyes. Those eyes. He told me, "Zepp, this is the life for you! Cutting back the outer layers, peeking inside, seeing what there really is behind those walls." And he was right, oh, he was so right. I may have been built by my maker to be the Carpenter my family had always needed, but I'll be damned if I don't one day go in the history books as the worlds best Surgeon." - From another Diary uncovered in the ruins, I believe its owner, Zepp, to be the may from the recent spring of murders. A truly unfortunate case. Heard he went mad and started covering his body in the flesh of his victims. My only question is, who is he? 21. Wk 6, Flight + Spirit and a group movement gimmick tagged on that doesn't utilize a Companion scheme is very powerful, though. Sometimes more powerful than 2-3 more inches pegged onto your walk. Sometimes.
  22. To give your finger the precise direction in which it should point, I am the sole reason and fire-starter of almost all Hamelin negativity. The reason being is; 1.) There are concise methods available that allow you to completely shutdown a very wide group of playstyles, 2.) There are also concise methods available that make it seem like everything your opponent does has absolutely no impact in the game, 3.) There are equally concise methods available that allow you cheese about your opponents in a way very much unkind. 4.) Ratswarms can take a REALLY long time to move about. - - - - - When the second book first dropped, one of the first things I did was run a LOT of Hamelin games where I quickly found out the best and most powerful strategies and used him to just ream the competition into the fetal position. It didn't lose me any friends but it cost me a game group and I wish it didn't. That's why I said you really should make sure everyone knows everything you're capable of before you run him, because there are some things he's capable of that are just pure anti-fun.
  23. Ultrapowerful supertank. The real star is honestly McMourning himself, Who paves the way for Simulcrum + Constructs to just decimate everything. By far the Avatar of Athanasia is one of the top tier Avatars in the game.
  24. What about that big giant headless guy in the background? I wanna meet him.
