  1. Someone tryed Hamelin mercenary with Ramos, I'm considering him since he can add some needed board control against melee orinted crews.
  2. I was thinking on doing Nico or Kyrai, I got Levy and some undead, someone ever tried SPA's in Nico crews? they pretty much work on thier own.
  3. They are still good to detonate with Ramos, but of course he can't hire them, or they got any sort of special hiring thingy?

It could be an option, but when I play Levy I normaly use it against my oponent, more often than not, Alice is killing the dog for the waif, and then Levy on turn 2 doing the waif, so killing more models for just 1ss cost difference is in my opinion sort of a waste of 1 Levy action. Maybe in a special Levy list or an experimental one it could work, depend on what your aim is, other than just buying cheap SPA's.

  7. Levy vs Zoraida First time using Levy after a while, since I was trying tomaster Ramos, but I still love Levy’s way of destruction unmatched by Ramos. The crews 30ss: Levy Alice 1 Canine Remains Hooded Raider 3 SPA 3 SS Old school Levy since I didn’t paint yet Collodi, or buy theA&D. Opponet Zoraida Hoffman Lelu Lilituh Stitched Maybe 5 SS I got reconnoiter, and pick stake a claim and Levy scheme.He got Claim Jump, and picked bodyguard Zoraida, and breakthrough. He placedthe counter on my deployment zone. Regular deployment and he got initiative for the first turn. Opponet moved his troops forward obeyed Lilituh and left herin the open. I did almost the same, except Levy went and killed Lilith, andsummoned a SPA, now at 4 SPA, I was gonna get them together and get them on thecenter of the table to control his advance. As Levy was busy, Alicekilled the dog for a future HW. Turn 2/3. Got the SPA together and formed a DesolationEngine, he responded with Zoraida doing a voodoo doll, and making the DesolationEngine charge Alice, for 6 damage. Hoffman stepped forward and killed Aliceleaving him close to Levy. Levy walked 3, and got did 12 damage on Hoffma, heresponded with a healing flip as his slow to die action, and then Levy turn himinto a SPA. The Desolation Engine charged the Voodoo doll and kill it. Thatleft Zoraida almost alone towards the counter. Turn 4, he won initiative and casted repulsive and run awaywith Zoraida, the Desolation Engine charged Lelu, and kill it, while thestitche did gamble your life with the raider for 4 damage, and then on thesecond the raider won and flipped the red joker, with nothing left on table heconceded. All in all mistakes from my opponent make the encounter notvery balance. The strategy flip plus his scheme choice, meant he needed to comeafter me, even though he manage to kill Alice, Levy just exceeded in hisability to bring havoc on his crew, bringing more SPA’s and stopping hisassault cold. Alice did not have achange to show what she can do, but instead was sort of bait, since she wassitting on the counter. Also leaving Lilith in the open unsupported, at Levyrange was not very smart. My main mistake was doing the Desolation Enginebefore Zoraida activation, and letting him obey it, to charge Alicewas not very smart, but I guess I learn that for the future. Next time I’m gonna see if I can take my camera and dopictures.
  8. Hamelin is all about the rats. Remember the spiders got pass through AND a triger that push the model 3". I got to see the cards I don't remember if the swarm got the triger. Anyways what you do against rats/catcher, is keep the suit needed for the trigger, then pass through the rats in the push and voila! you just cross the rat line and go for the rat catcher, after the catcher is dead, rats go smoke easy. another way is to have gunfigthers, so when they get close you shot the ratcatcher, he got to be at a certain range to do the tricks, don't expose Ramos against the rats I never did it, but I belive he is dead on arriaval. Another thing is Kaeris flying to the rat catcher and kill him.

I plan on using Kaeris sort of the same way, and Iggy as support, Ramos can be bad a** up there, but be carefull, cause a more melee orinted crew can wipe him out easy he only got defense 2 so if you see any melee guy there, avoid it if possible. The raider I see got to be on my crew but until I'm done with some of my projects it's going into the wish list, as I only play painted figs.
  10. all you need to buy a model is to like it, and paint them, I painted the 3 headed tiger a couple times, is fun, the serpent is a bit tricky to paint, but a nice one if you got patience. Enjoy Marcus! he is a great rasta man, I like him just don't have the time to play more than a couple masters, since I play once a week, 1 or 2 games, and the 2 masters I got are enough for that. Congrats! Give them hell! or maybe a jungle beast but well ...
  11. Yes they are two very different masters, that's why i pointed out that he should decide first between a fast hit and run master, or a more Tina style play, slow but steady. Silurids and night terrors are a must, then for big guys he already got the rogue necromancy he could go from there and later see what to add. The totem is important also not essential to start. I think if he sticks with those few first purchases the budget to start Marcus is lower.
  12. decker_cky is right on the maths, those are your buys, the only thing i would leave behind Ramos avatar for a future buy, and add at least 1 SPA so I wouldn't have to mess up with magnets.
  13. It's 10 points, I would take Kaeris, Joss or the mechanical Raider all the way, or 2 Large Steampunk Archanids, for te same ss. You might use it a couple times if you don't have nothing and just start with the box set, but you already got Kaeris and joss, so no need to spend a penny on it, unless you like to paint and like the model.
  14. Really will come up to a summon/range attack master against a more fast and hit and run master. I belive that if you wanna go the hit and run tactic, go Show Girls they are a lot better than Marcus on that, also not a beast orinted crew. I would go ramos with those figs, but if you wanna try a very different approach, go Marcus or even Show girls. Marcus is fragile, you got to hit and run or he will die fast.
  15. Don't know why people said you got beasts I didn't see any, with those figs I would go Ramos all the way, you got most of the crew already. Buy Ramos, not the box set, just the fig and 3 spider blisters, do 6 little spiders and 1 swarm. Buy the electrical creation and the mobile tool kit, and you are all set to play Ramos. Ramos $10 3 spider blisters $30 (might be cheaper, I don't recall the price) 1 Electrical creation 7.50? 1 Mobile tool kit 7.50? Total about 55 bucks, if you got an extra 10 bucks, buy the Large steampunk archanid, and you are all set to start.
  16. mmmmm this was a trick I used several times, in the old rules it just says, after killing defender, but the v3 card that I ordered not more than a week ago it does state after killing enemy defender. So it can't be done anymore. I started playing again after not playing since 2010, so forgive me. Also before the SPA's could take a ride from any construct, now is just another SPA, the hooded raider moving them around can't be done anymore.
  17. Good Job!! That's basically what you need with Ramos move foward and summon staff in the heat of the battle. The electrical creation is the best you got, and NEVER forget surge you get it automatically with the MTK. Spiders are just what you descrived annoying creatures, that migh deal damage and cause attrition on the other side, they basically are there for the rest to do thier job in this case the Mechanical raider. You get to learn from your mistakes, I once did something even more stupid. My oponent got the scheme to kill Johan and last turn or so, I charged with Johan thinking is ok if he dies game is almost over, then at the end I realized it was one of his schemes I should have run the other way!!!!, for future reference I now write down the schemes, so I don't forget. Also Joss is a dead beat, I bought him in 2009/10 when I used to play more, and never painted him, then sold my painted crews and got the Ramos box to play along Levy in brawls. I then started learning how to play him, and now I'm even spending money on his minions. Still didn't buy the raider, Kaeris was cheaper, but might do it at some point (or ask for it as a Christmas present from my wife).
  18. The dog is the best solution. I use to do a turn 1 HW and a couple SPAs out of the dog. Dog moves 4 from deployment. Levy activates Give a SPA blessing of desolation, DRAW A CARD, for succesfully casting a spell 1 wd necrotic sacrifice for 3 walk 2 wd (3wd's) death lesson (put highest first lowest second, depending on maths you need to win against the dog and then do severe, remember levy got face of death so you will always do an even flip on damage if discarding control cards, put one card on the discard pile, YOU MUST DO THIS), 2wd (5wds) hit the dog and do max damage cheat it if necesary Entropic transformation, over the corpse counter 2wds (7 total) DRAW A CARD Activate SPA, not the one you casted blessing of desolation a second one and move it, and push the one with the spell between levy and the HW. activate the one with the spell, kill levy, create a SPA kill the waif and create a second spa. You need to practice a bit with the cards, you'll need some suits and you will need at least one severe in your hand. NEVER FORGET TO DRAW A CARD WHEN YOU DO A SPELL WITH LEVY IS CRUCIAL.
  19. Soulless means it does not drop any counter. Levi itself is soulless, if they did drop a counter you could do a waif via a SPA and levy pump spell. I guess you could get a counter from the rat, but not from the stolen.

My oponent got lucky, I got soft cover and he flipped an 11 and 12 and the 11 was of tomes, then used a soulstone, and did max damage, or moderate can't recall, triggered overpower and did it again with minimun damage, all in all was like 4-5 from her, and then 1 from Kaeris, Joss was left with 2-3 wounds, then Kaeris moved and used her union trick and got Joss a couple wounds and kill him, all in all Joss atracted 1 master full activation and a henchman full 2 activations, and 2 soulstones. I did however leave him in a position to be fired, I could have moved in the dark away from danger, but I was trying to get him go for the sabotage scheme, and with his amazing 4 movement I wouldn't have gotten there, the board was full of walls around, as we did an ancient ruin scenario, and we fliped the -1WP for every model, he planned to do Pandora but forgive me the pain and changed to Tina. Sumoining Ramos is so so, what I did the first couple times I played was detonating the LSA to get scraps, but find out that he really didn't needed to be that far from deployment, so I used the LSA as a melee guy, and it's pretty good for the 5 ss. I do the scrap turn one and then turn 2 I go up field and just summon spiders from dead bodies. His best spell anyways is by far electrical creation, so you want him to be up there starting turn 2 to summon the EC close to a master or a nasty minion. Anyways Kaeris can move 5 and she flys, so that alone will be an advantage, on top of that she can overheat spiders, so they explode and do 1 fire token to everyone, including the electical creation, that said if you do 2 token to the EC, at the end of the turn they get more damage plus the wd form the touch, Iggy might help with the tokens, will see, but I just didn't see a great minion on the fire gamins, plus the ss cost would be prohivitive. Basically in theory I win a bit of movement, a different source of "detonate", and free Ramos from that and he can just do Electrical Fire (the ranged spell I think it is that name). As support Iggy seems more solid than a gamin, or he might be just a bad purchase as I ain't a fun of that mini, while I do like Kaeris. Will see. People that where playing Malifaux 1 year ago are restarting playing, or at least thinking about it, as I try to be in the store every saturday so to motivate the crowd to play.
  21. Levi got a special v3 card, cause v2 got some issues, he's the only one that I know got that, is just an updated v2 maybe you could say is a v2.1 to understand but is titled v3.
  22. I ordered a v3 card for Levi recently and a couple I've lost. S&H for US was about 5 bucks, not sure why they charge so much a simple envelope with a stamp would have been enough , but they send the thing on a bubble wrap envelope and paid maybe 1.50 or so, in all maybe 2.50 with the envelope, plus labor maybe add 1 buck. Maybe they could rise the cost of cards .25 and do a plain shipping, not sure but replacing the cards is a bit of a pain. I laminated the ones I got and hope to not lose one again.
  23. New game in this time against Tina. Same list. Only this time I didn't just kill the LSA turn one to get scraps, I actually used it in melee to good effect and summoned spiders the old fashion way with the salvage under fire. Joss definitly is a dead body, he atracts too much attention from the other crew, turn 1 he got severly damaged by Tina, and turn 2 he was killed by Kaeris. Johan is fine he is a bit more survivable but dpends on that +2 for a close by MS&U member. Spiders are just attrtion minions, they go foward and get kill, hardly ever I get to do something with them other than holding the front line, that is good enough but don't expect a lot out of them, and the unswarm, swarm combo normally dosen't work, cause they don't have companion, so you activate a spider, and your oponent will activate something and kill one of the unactivated spiders, and bye bye many hits with that trick. I'm gonna change the Johan, Joss duet of 15ss, for Kaeris and Iggy that's also 15ss, BUT they walk 5 to start with and Kaeris can overheat spiders to do then do damage with her spells. I think it will be a better deal in the end. I'm on the paint then play the minis side of the story, and I only buy what I will paint got enough unpainted crap at home, so union miners will be a future buy, but I wanna try them, also the mechanical raider in the future. Conclusion, with no avatar LSA are better off going for the melee and then use the scraps than just detonating them. Joss is not worth the ss, is too fragile, even with aromour 2-3, he tends to die by turn 2, if you get him to go to melee he can do severe damage, but unless you are facing someone that is melee orinted avoid him. Spiders are just attrition counters, don't expect a lot of them. If you are doing a Ramos crew and debating the number of spiders to buy/paint, I would say 6 small ones and 1 swarm, you might have 4 spiders on table at the most, and swarms if you do 1 it will die fast enough that you ain't gonna need a second one. Maximun buy/paint for the little guys is 6 spiders 2 swarms. I will see what Kaeris and Iggy do.
  24. Electrical Creation is a must, is the more powerfull spell for Ramos, is it was a construct it will make things a lot easier.
  25. I like the idea of painting Lucius crew. What I'll do is the crew suggested, and maybe painting the dogs anyways cause they are cool, I would have prefer the raptors for painting, but well... The idea is a demos/grab and play army for everyone to use, so Lucius might not be the perfect crew, but it offers a new player not willing to invest right away a chance to play til he get's an army. Box+1guards+2austringers, and maybe add the dogs, depending on how I feel the day I get to purchase the pack. Thanks for all the advice!!
