  1. It's jar water weight. I've been running on an elliptical every day since the 1st I haven't lost any weight yet. But I've gained 4 lbs which is a good start.
  2. Wow this thread managed to get off toPic really quickly. Don't make me get out my Vulcan megabolter that shoots flaming chainsaws which in turn shoot lava spikes. I am chin for the terra clips. Worldworks makes good stuff and I've only ever had the patience to print, cut out and build any of their products once for a heroclix tourney. it was fun and the stuff was amazing. Someone sat on the terrain when we were cleaning up. I never rebuilt the stuff and sold my heroclix at a garage sale. Stupid mouth breather... Anyways I'm sure having the stuff pre-printed and stuff will make it way better.
  3. Why is this not stickied yet? Oh wait I know it's the resurrectionists section. Threadomancy is allowed if the need should arise. Though I have a feeling this thread will stay on top regardless. There is a wealth of knowledge in this thread. It can also work for anyone who is having trouble against him and needs to see what his shortcomings are or how to break his combos. Even months after starting I'm still trying to wrap my head round the game. This has helped me tremendously.
  4. You could use a quick set epoxy but you'll probably just make a mess and ruin the model. Your best bet is to pin EVERYTHING that is pewter pewter/plastic. The reason your having trouble with certain joints is the chemical in superglue CA (I'm not gonna spell it out). Has no "shear strength" the pin will offset this like rebar in concrete.
  5. I will have to work on labor day weekend. Oh well sucks for me I guess. Especially since it's so close.
  6. Gripfast makes knee-high strappy boots with a thick sole and heel. You might try electricboutique.com they have good boots. For a second you guys scared me I though this was going to be a larping thread. Although cosplay isn't my thing Halloween is. I can respect the effort it takes to make those crazy costumes. Especially when there is very little actual material there. I'm pretty sure theres a formula for less clothing= morels stitching and more work My band aptly named "the boothill rockers" then renamed "the boothill swingers" now known as "Big Rob and his Dirty Old Man" did a zombie western thing on Halloween for a few years. If u have the ability make it yourself it will be cheaper. If you can't you can buy most anything you need but it will cost you. Just ask my confederate cavalry uniform. Be forewarned if you buy boots make sure they are workboots and have rubber soles. Don't be a city boy and buy leather sole dancing/dress boots, you will fall and maybe die. Was gonna be Dr. Horrible for Halloween but the smock pattern I have would work well with McMourning
  7. My dad got perdita and I picked up McMourning. I've got half a dozen warhammer fantasy ghouls I'm using till I get some dawgs.
  8. Always kill the healer first. Or at least force them to heal themselves instead of their friends. Do anything you can to force the player to loose cards, if you have ever played a TCG you know when your hand is larger than your opponent's you have the upper hand no matter how grim things seem as you have more options even if they aren't very good. It's still intimidating. I play a template army in 40k and it's nasty unless I'm fighting a low model count army. If you keep your stuff strews thin away from pandora you have a better chance of decreasing her effectiveness. Just play around her threat zone and ignore her. Above all play the mission, don't play against the enimies crew. Let us know what seems to work or works better we can help develop your strategy even further.
  9. To be fair the last Warhammer Fantasy set came with goblins and dwarves, and the new one will have Skaven and High Elves. Having Elves in a starter set makes any points gained for an awesome goblins and dwarves set mute, so your point is still valid. The point about escaping reality couldn't have been said better. That is why I played Horde in WoW, not to mention the Alliance are also coincidentally tyrants and racists. I think the models do have themes outside of the Ant-Anti-Anti themes. For example Lady justice and her crew are this mix of what all the great Westerns truly are. Both her and the Judge are Samurai and the Death Marshals are Cowboys. This is the essence of the Spaghetti Westerns and the Akira Kurosawa films. They exemplify they greatness that can be found in both the Seven Samurai and the Magnificent Seven. They are both the wandering Ronin and the Drifter. The witch hunter chick is very inquisitorial and her minions are just plain cool. They may serve their purpose in being "anti-Archanist" but aren't they just as effective at locking down any other faction's caster? wait your right she's kind of dumb. Perdita and her family are Mexican Banditos through and through with the Gaucho hat she wears and their ponchos. Hell Francisco looks like Eli Wallach. I think you are looking into them too much. I haven't played a lot of games yet so I may be wrong. I do know that when I took my dad to the hobby store he thought that the guild models were cool as their themes visually are very strong and identifiable especially to someone who his age. I think your problem with th guild might be that they don't have any minions that are really identifiable as being able to be taken by any crew. They all sort of fill their own niche. Maybe this is because they are mostly named characters whereas other crews have access to more generic minions. They also are so thematically different I think most of the different crew models would look funny if they weren't fielded with their respective crew. On a side note you would think town guards have something better to do than hassle groups of people with no real marketable skills besides slaying the most dangerous of creatures. They must get crazy good hazard pay or huge cajones to slap cuffs onto Gygax the level 27th Warrior/Mage with a chaotic mace and a +12 soul sucking sword.
  10. Stripping models always seems to come up. Anyways you can also use brake fluid. But will have to degrease the models. For a better spray primer use krylon flat spray paint (krylon is basically colored spray primer). Use flat white or black. They have specific primers if you want to go that route. I use gray as white and black both blur out details and I find that the midtone still allows me to pick out details without having to paint over them first to notice them.
  11. I was merely suggesting one could could trap opposing figs in between two terrain pieces. You could also use them around corners to protect your crooked men from being charged. You could also lure them into close combat in such a way as to shaft them if they do not escape the close combat by the end of their activation. The ressurectionists have alot of spells that can screw up your opponents planning especially if you are throwing out mine shafts. They seem like a very good tool to control your opponents moves and peel single models out of their crews to chew up one at a time.
  12. ISince the answer is no I guess? I can see them being used with the hanged or belles to trap models into being forced to move through the shafts.
  13. I don't like music playing while I play games unless it's instrumental and is very quiet in the background. When we play boardgames like last night on earth or arkham asylum or any other horror game we use the last night on earth CD. During serenity/Deadlands when I GM I will play western music in the background with certain playlists for that are appropriate. During the BDH triumphs I will play the theme from the magnificent seven or something like that. When I paint I listen to te usual stuff which is everything from dirty blues and hawaian music to skinny puppy and Bolt Thrower. With wargames though I find music highly distracting as my goal is to have fun with the game not listen to music. It's just nit for me. Especially with the glom of themes that is Malifaux. If my opponet wants music I have no problem with it as long ad there is no K rap or techno junk.
  14. Oh noes the misinformation! actually that's pretty much it. Matte medium or any other finish will help keep the wash from ringing. Someone on BOLS did and article about making your own washes/inks about a year ago. Ps difference between washes and inks is pigment size and ppm vs vehicle and binder. Inks use smaller pigment size with a higher ppm than washes. Washes have more bonded and larger pigment size with a lower ppm.
  15. There's a few different types of putty I have used. Green stuff: awesome, easy to use and is very multiple purpose. Blue/yellow strip White stuff: this is just like green stuff but it sucks. I don't k ow why it just does. Blue/whore strip Grey stuff: is harder to work with but is good for swords or anything that needs to be supporting itself on it's own more. Black or dark gray/white Brown stuff: the same as grey stuff but will hold round shapes as well as edges. I think it comes in a brown/white strip. Insert color stuff comes in both strip and bar form (one bar of each color). Bars are better because they don't have the area of contact that stops do. Which get activated and need to be removed before/after mixing. If you are having trouble with green stuff being stick wait 5-10 minutes before sculpting it to give it some time to start setting. I also find that aside from water you can use water based lubricant among other things such as petroleum jelly to keep your sculpting tools from sticking But if you use anything besides water you cannot bend or fold the GS onto itself as it will no longer adhere to anything due to the lubricant in between the layers of GS. It should be used more for smoothing and shaping.
  16. You should be able to spray them if you put a layer of pVA glue over them. That will also help give them a smoother finish as well as add to their durability. Too bad you sold the fire elemental you could have cut the arms and head off making it look like the elemental was clawing it's way up out of the ground. You can recreate that "see through" effect with fiberglass resin or other clear and some patience. Once you have shaped it. You just have to ink the resin and you will get a nice shading effect but the piece will not be opaque. That's how the fire elemental was made but probably with a plastic of course.
  17. The Malleus Maleficarum descrides hanging as a very lenient sentence for witchcraft. Seeing how hanging was also a popular Victorian/western/Gothic horror style of Capitol punishment (plus undead hanged models) can make this a very awesome centerpiece to your terrain. Do to the long history of hanging as a punishment this piece can be used in almost any other war-game regardless of the period. Depending upon the version M&M describes that if gallows are not available the tree must be an Oak, ash, yew or willow tree. Depending upon the language. These all also happen to be tree that can easily be somewhat sinister, gnarled or strangely twisted and "stretched". The materials I have used are as follows: 16 guage brass wire 24 gauge copper wire Some rocks Basing sand rough/fine DAP drydex spackel (I reccomend DAP crackshot as it dries harder) Generic brand wood filler Foamcore An old blister pack cover And a bit of green stuff. I'm at work on a break now when I get some pics I will post them as to how to make the trees frame from the wire.
  18. Ounds like alot of people share my fathers luck. When we played D&D he would have to have us fight 3 to 4 vampires instead of one or a tomb of mummies or a coven of witches instead of a single one because he rolled so bad. We also played in ravenloft so the vampires were scary bad news and almost impossible to kill. We just plain rolled better than he did. I also remember the Dark set. That was truely the golden age of magic. My dad always had better luck when we played Magic. Now when I play Malifaux with him he stomps me unless I start counting cards then the games become closer. Counting the cards. I think that besides removing the dice gods from the picture, the turn sequence is also essential. Half your crew is not blown away before you even get your first turn doesn't happen like it does in warhammer.
  19. The white looks so good on sunshine. How come you didn't dot the white on Seamus like that?

    Parade

Pho makes me angry. Good buildings though. I would pike to blow up the pho with seamus's .50 cal flintlock glock.
  21. One could possibly take a shower in the hooch. On the lines of hobos and train sets watch Emperor of the North. It's a movie about hobos riding trains during the great depression. Lee Marvin and Earnest Borgnine beat eachother down in it. It's awesome. Btw I must have that hobo jungle.
  22. Very nice I suggest adding a Cthulhu statue as that bog is right out of lovecraft. Especially with fish people and witch hunters running around (okay they're usually professors). Fantasy flight I think sells bags of various sizes of Cthulhu statues. You could also build some crypts and mosoliums. In Nawlins they have to bury everyone above ground other wise the bodies will "float up" through the mud because there is too much water in the soil. This goes for any other boggy area, you happen to have a boggy table. So you could make small hills with stone monuments to help block LOS while turning the table into a sunken graveyard. Two great themes for the price of one awesome table.
  23. Well it seems to me that most if not all buildings would have to have been rebuilt after the first closing of the Breach. In the southern part of the city I think you would see stilted buildings the closer you got to the bayou to protect against flooding and sewage leaks. I may be wrong but doesn't the clockwork and steam tech come from Malifaux? That's why I think there would be pipes running along the side of most if not all of the buildings. If the city has been rebuilt several times before then the buildings would have been remodeled and various styles of architecture would be found in every building. Each building would be it's own character and history. I would think like the haunted mansion at Disneyland but with a quarter of the house being rebuilt to have some other elements from Victorian architecture which blends well with the deep south plantation architecture. Itight have an addition made of wood siding near the saloon next for which is also of new construction therefore being your standard wild west style saloon. Or maybe the bottom of the saloon is in the same sort of creole style but the second level was added on with the manifest destiny style wood plank building. In the slums I picture ruined buildings where leantoos are put up by squatters and the guilds indentured servants in the alleyways with the main buildings serving as crude waterclosets and trash dumps. Basically people living in their own filth. Depending on the section of the city I think more elements will have a stronger presence. But I don't think you are going to cross a street and find a whole different landscape like in wow where your new "zone" changes with districts. Yes people tend to stick to their respective ghettos if you want to call the factions gangs. But one must take into account there will be a poor mans cobbler and a fine italian shoe store in both the rich areas as well as the poor. People don't plan citys they start as towns and work their way up from there. The streets of Malifaux likely have very crooked streets and alleys many ending quite abrubtly around corners where some may wind through the whole city. Much like a labyrinth or maze. I could write about the city for hours so I'll stop before I go any farther
  24. Walking down the streets of Malifaux would probably be like walking down the streets in oh let's say Ghettysburg PA, Williamsburg VA or Washington DC. If you have been there alot of the buildings are modern but many buildings that have been deemed "historically significant" this they have been preserved and the different architecture styles live side by side. Now imagine that but with Bram Stokeresque Victorian mansions and parlors mixed in with a wooden boardwalk from the wild west tacked on the front of all these. Cover walls and roofs with steam fittings. Maybe some older gothic architecture with additions or rebuilt parts in other themes and styles.
  25. I would like to see Malifaux origional architecture I picture it as a burtonesque Victorian/Gothic style windows maybe with some gargoyles and steam/gas fittings running up the sides with iron smokestacks instead of stone chimneys. A train station would also be nice. It could have a water/clock tower with twisty arms and a 13th hour.
