  1. There is nothing wrong with the lists. I'd like to make 2 suggestions though - Firstly, I would advise learning the game with smaller lists. Each model has quite a lot of rules with regards to how it works, and tryign to remember 6 different models on your crew as well as what your opponent can do and learn the game is quite tough. A good learning group is Lady Justice and 3 Death marshalls as you only have 2 models on your side to learn, and they have a little bit of magic, a bit of shooting, and a lot of melee, coverign most of the rules you will need. Secondly - Because the game is very scenario driven, what list works well for 1 mission might be rubbish at another. It is possible to make a good fixed list to try and do everything, but I personally wouldn't go that way. In terms of what to get, if you can afford it I would suggest both masters box sets. The guild does very well in having minions which work well with any master. It also gives you a chance to do some mix and match in your crew. Mind you everythign I've said doesn't always help. I have a friend who runs Justice Nino Ortega Santiago Ortega Executioner Samual Hopkins Witchling stalker And he gets very good results from it in tournements by working on the view that if he kills everything, they can't earn points. I think its very hard to make a bad Guild list, as all its minions are good at their role.
  2. Sirens call can clear the route, alternatly you can bury them with Colette. Especially good if they haven't activated yet, as they don't unbury until their chance toactivate has passed. (You can also try for the manniquinn replacement trigger, but even not going for that its still a good spell. Remember if you're not going for the triple tomes trigger, you can get the mask trigger to replace the soulstone you spent on the spell.
  3. But with a cache of 0. Sure, you might not want to field Collodi with a cache of 7, but you can. So it is a 17 stone box. Like Hoffman is a 20 stone box when you give him a cache of 8
  4. For what its worth I would play the bomb as follows. Link Manniquin to corephyee, try to bash performer (although getting the models to ignore weak damage could be very useful at the end for keeping you alive). Linked corephyee sword dances and trys to get masks. Walks past performer and hits her getting extra push try to leave performer below 3 wounds. Continues walk to be 18" beyond other corephyee. Colette gets reactivate, switchs positions with the manniquin and then again with Cassandra. Performer tags a corner for power ritual if possible. If its not, then it can be used to walk forward, and siren call the unactivated corephyee nearer the middle. If you are going this way, you can move the original one a little further forward Dove magician duels Peformer to death, gaining a soulstone to put reactivate on the un activated corephyee. If you don't have a dove, re-activate colette and make one, and possibly use her to magians duel the performer dead. UNactivated corephyee dance partners to base contact with first corephyee. Gains use soulstone and +2 willpower. Dances together. walks towards the main group of bad guys, attacking at the beginning if you are going to need the 4" push, otherwise saving the sword dance attack to be on an enemy. Since this is a replace, all effects on the models transfer. Next steps are more situational in order Cassandra dance partners to the enemy group. I would probably sword dance, nimble, getting an attack on a problem piece (possibly a stiched) and aimign to get the trigger to allow a cast. Hopefully get the cast If not using the melee version of her breath fire. (it might be best to give her the negative defense flips zero action rather than sword dance, opponent crew dependant). Re-activate the duet. Either use the area spell to hurt as much as you can, or use the attacks from her walks to kill as much as you can. Try and use the final move/push to get out of lint of sight of the stiched if you can. Certainly risky, but there is a reasonable posibility of actualy killing Pandora as well as Collodi and all the crew.
  5. How much better is the effergy than doves? I've not yet got her avatar, but I would struggle to imagine that the use of the Effigy after manifestation is better than the use of the doves before manifestation. Does it matter how soon you are expecting to manifest? I think it is possible to complete a power ritual on Turn one if you really want to, just to give you an example of how fast they can be. And sitting at at table and trying to get the moves exactly right to do this will help you understand some of what the models are capable of. I personally prefer linking the manniquin to a corephee on turn 1 as when the duet forms and gets its fast action, the manniquin will be pushed into base to base with this model, even if it had been illusioned back into the deployment area after it pushed to the location of the corephee.
  6. Maybe thats something for an achievement league - Get a desperate Mercenary to survive until the end of the game.
  7. For whats its worth I think it was a risky tactic, as the showgirls could potentially got a duet casting Orcestral cresendu 2 or three times against the un activated block. It would involve killing a performer to give a corephyee re-activate, but since you get get a duet about 24" down table in 1 activation (including the formation), giving it a second shot has a high probability of causing much death. Of course i am looking with hindsight, and probably wouldn't have thought of that as a route normally...
  8. The only limited models were the hanging tree and Miss Terious. All the others will be released later and be regular stock
  9. Reading your reply does make me wonder if you have got combat rules wrong. You both generate a total and then the person losign makes first cheat. And with Paired, you are fliiping 2 cards and picking which one to use, against his 1 card. Most of the Ortegas are Df 4 or 5. Even those on Df 5 (possibly just Francisco) need to flip a better card than you to win. And you have flipped 2 cards and get to pick which one you use. Remember, if its a tie, you hit. So Statistically, the Ortegas will have to cheat first. And as you say, you have a low damage chart, so one hit doesn't make much difference. But those 10 Paired atacks have a good chance of killing one and half killing a second ortega in one go. And even if he has a great hand, and you have a poor hand, you will still probably kill one Ortaga. And speaking about range, sure, most of the Ortegas have 10" gun. But Collodi and 4 MArionetes can go from being out of his range at the start of the activation to having 11 or more attacks before he activates. And you could also turn some of those spare actions (because 99 time out of 100 you will kill the ortega minion in under 8 atacks) into moving Collodi out of range for reprisals. I'll admit this might not work very well on Papa Loco, and his explosion will make a mess of you so you need some answer to it, but it seems a lot of the time he isn't being the problem. I hoppe this helps
  10. McTavish is a very swampy merc. He even comes with an alligator
  11. Well since every other low box is being quoted with maximum cache, I'd call Collodi a 17 soulstone box. I would imagine this would be low soulstone box, gettign a 2 master figure eats into the space quickly. Especially since larger figures (such as monted people) typically cost more. But 3 wastrals and a hound seem very low points, especially since thats probably already a $40 box, if not more. I would have thought McCade, Luna, and a couple of unique minions (with costs over 8) would fit his box best, but he book only seems to have 1 guild model that fits. I would be disapointed but not surprised if he followed suit with Kaeris and his box set came with some models from the next book. (Only disapointed on the time we'd have to wait to get him)
  12. Collodi can be a very powerful henchmen. Him and 4 MArionettes can deliver 10 attacks (with paired weapons) on targets 18" from Collodi in 1 activation. The range can be greater, it'll just cut into attacks. There isn't much that is going to survive that. His pounce is consistant and pretty scary. Wicked dolls can also jump straight to where ever he is. Typically he also has a lot of cheap models meaning you can probably out activate any other crew, timing your strike for when you want. Facing the Ortegas I would probably slowly advance the Stiched, making sure they put their fog up at the end of their activation. Before the ortega are in range to shoot you, you should be able to strike out at them, removing one or two models. They can't see through the fog, or even far enough into it to shoot the stiched. If the stiched are getting fast each turn, then they can be moving 8" a turn and still getting the fog up. The biggest risk you have is when they get iniative on you and the whole family shoots before you get an activation, so be weary of that, and try and keep your crew safe from that. Finally, The game isn't won on combat. You can almost complete the reclaim malifaux scheme on turn one, breakthrough is again almost a garenteed 2 VP. keep clear of his guns if you don't need to walk into them, make him come to you.
  13. Hmm Maximum attacks by a silurid Zoraida Doppleganger Collodi Student of Conflict McTavish Woe 18 attacks
  14. Unless there is something else in the pipes (possibly story encounters, but I don't know) the release of this books models will take about 1 year to do. Or at least thats about the time scale on each of the other books. So I would imagine a crew box every other month.
  15. Reading the other threads gives me these answers 1. What are the special hire rules for new masters? Ok I don't know, but several minions have allowed models, for example the Ressurectionist daimyo guy allows the recruiting of punk zombies, even if he is in a 10 Thunder crew. 2. 10thunder brothers get 10t trait? I think they already have it 3. Any details on mei movement tricks? Yes, there is a good review in the arcanist of the 1001 tricks for Mei. It looks like Rattys cheat sheet will come in very handy with 6 triggers on her. 4. Anything at all you can tell us about how jacobs crew works with depleated? Several of the new neverborne models get bonuses if the models have "Brilliance". Depleted are oen of the ways that brilliance can be given out 6. Is Molly getting any toys? There is certinly one Horror - which seems to have ananthema, and is able to give other terrifying models anamthma as well. Penny to her friends. 12. What are the faction breakdowns, i.e. how many minions/rares/uniques each? It appears that there are 1 master 1 totem and 5 minions for 4 factions, Outcasts don't get a master or totem, but all their minions are listed in this thread, and there is the 5th 10 Thunder master Misaki, who isn't dual faction. 14. What are Yan Lo's and McCabe's totems? Soul cage (Helps with the new relic mechanic that several of the ressurectionist have) Hunting dog (can't remeber name, but seems to be an improved guild hound) Hope that helps
  16. Just want to clarify that Armour can never reduce the amount of incoming damage below 1, so the on the damage isn't going to help get the teeth strike.
  17. Going from memory (ie I think this is right, but don't have stats in front of me) You can fly or Transpoosition Kade forward and then whers my teddy to bring the fluffy bear to the front, but Teddy can actualy move at a good pace when he flys himself. You can certainly play a list with the two heavy hitters, and they can be fairly mobile as well as survivable. There can even be some synergy with Smell fear and tear in half. I would only combine for a few scenarios, rather than have it as a main list, its probably got a good chance in Slaughter and escape and survive, but weak at line in the sand and plant evidence for example.
  18. The Friekorps box is easily playable as is, and there is plenty of easy expansions to the box to fill any gaps your play style might want. It also has the advantage that it can be combined with almost every other master to give you models that you can use with any crew you may want in the future. McMorning has a less fuctional box set. It also has summoning, which wil make purchasing extra models a strong incentive to get the most out of him. Having said that there are soem very good suggestions to getting playable Mcmorning on a budget, and if you like him, he is worth going for. They are both good masters to learn with. Von Schill is probably slightly easier on the rules, but mainly because most of his models have a lot of similar rules.
  19. From my memory of last Gen con, we had the expected release dates of the Avatars and alternate scuplts that the released at Gencon. There where the same rumours for september and october as this year (ie some stores had expected lists but there where errors on those lists). But Other avatars and the general minions were unknown I have a similar memory of the pre-releases of the previous year (well ok I remember thinking that I would want to buy the corephyee as they weren't out till November and they would go well with the resat of the colette crew I bought). Hope that helps
  20. Given how complicated some of the hiring in dual faction might be, I wouldn't expect it too soon.
  21. Ozz has explained what I meant. By having a model that moves not in its activation, using it in Illisionist can mean you're not leaving a model behind. Sorry the explaination wan't clear. I often link to a corephee, which will get somewhere good on turn 1. Then on Turn 2 I will switch Colette there, and when I move the Corephee, the manniquin will snap back to the corephee. Using this remember Link ends when used again, or the models are not in base contact at the end of the turn, and the linked model will move into base contact at the end of a move action, or the end of the activation
  22. She is certainly Viable at 25 stones. Choice of models is more scenario dependant, do you put all your eggs in a duet of baskets? Go with Cassandra and performers? Or look outside the show girls for help? Johan is a cheap damage dealer for example At the lower levels, the performers are well worth the value, you're getting 2 activations for 6 SS, and a possible paralyse, which Cassandra can copy. The manniquins Link can be used with illusionist to get free movement of what ever showgirl you want.
  23. Hello and welcome to Malifaux. Colette is a fun master to play with lots of tricks and surprises up her sleeve. If you go to the Pull my finger wiki you will find lots of suggestions for her. I would strongly recomend getting her totems, as several of her abilities run off the mechanical doves. After that, remember you are a crew that isn't at its best in a fight. use speed and other tricks to get your way. Try not to pick schemes like Kill protoge and Grudge, as you haven't got the best models to kill. The colette crew can be very competative once you have got your head around the different movement she can do.
  24. As stated, it wasn't what Wyrd originally intended, but for various reasons, none of the guild models were ready for pre-release at this time. Ditto Ressurectionists.
  25. Cheers I'd read the card at least 3 times, and still hadn't got that right. Range 14 is pretty good. Sometimes. and if they are nearer than 11" you'll be ready for their charge.
