  1. Cool! ... though I'm equally interested to know why Tor Gaming is clearing out Malifaux items with no intention of restocking.
  2. Hell. Just tell potentials that "Yeah, there's zombie hookers" and BAM you've got new players. At least ... that's how it went with me. I'm complex.
  3. Truth, and that's all that matters to me. Stats change, but he'll always be a cool sculpt!
  4. Thanks, Talisko. If the game ends up being half as nice as the minis I'll have to start eBaying my GW stuff. Drag. But no rush! I'll be plenty busy with Malifaux in the meantime ...
  5. Totally. One standard WHFB unit worth of Malifaux models nets you three viable crews, and each individual mini is a joy to paint ... unlike the brain numbing assembly line required to struggle through twenty-five near identical spearmen/warriors/whatever. Easy on the wallet, painting doesn't feel like work, deep strategy. No complaints.
  6. I've decided to master my Masters before I draft a second string. The Resurrectionists need me! Thankfully, there's at least one potential player in my group interested in Leveticus. He'll be well represented. No. See. NOT the time to announce a soul crushing A-bomb of broken. :flame:
  7. :bump: Apologies for the bump. I realize the content of this thread is extremely relative. Even so, I hope a veteran player (or two) will weigh in with some personal experience. The max Schemes issue seems fairly cut and dry, at least for now. Always select max Schemes, otherwise you deny yourself potential VPs. Case closed. Beyond that ... There are several wanna-be Malifaux players in my group interested in Masters that don't play well with others; both Som'er Teeth and Leveticus. Our group enjoys large games, there will be Brawls. The issue is, most of these guys don't care for their Master's "big game" counterpart: Som'er Teeth w/ Zoraida ("I can see her BOOBS!"), Leveticus w/ Ramos ("the old fart and his spiders"). The majority feel that 1 Master + 10 Soulstones is a poor trade compared to 2 Masters w/ caches ... keep in mind, our shared Malifaux experience consists of three demo games, a proxy match, pouring over our (my) single copy of the rules and lurking/spamming the forums (me again). Some steely-eyed wisdom from a long time player would be appreciated. Should these guys expect an uphill battle taking a single Master into a Brawl? I'd love to convince them otherwise. I'm also interested on a less specific level. A Brawl with McM + 10 might be fun, assuming it's viable. Again, I realize it's relative. I'd hesitate to take Nico + 10 when I could have Nico + McM and end up with only 4 less stones. The smaller the cache of the secondary Master, the more attractive the +10 proposition becomes. Is that noob of me? Am I underestimating the value of 4ss?
  8. Holy crapola, that's all kinds of awesome. :notworthy
  9. Maybe it's tied to that one illustration in the book (the page number I cannot recall and I loaned my book to a friend). Hmm. The goth looking chick, white face - reminds me of Morticia from the Adam's Family - standing next to a tombstone. She's petting a mustachioed zombie on the head like a lap dog. Her facial expression is memorable, she'd make an interesting mini.
  10. I definitely agree with this. While I'm not at all opposed to additional factions in the future, it's a bit premature at this point in Malifaux's fledgling existence.
  11. Apparently Res was a little off the hook pumping out corpse counters. I don't have any personal experience with it (never had a chance to play pre-errata), but I can see how it would be. Nicodem and McM would be a gong show given a surplus of counters.
  12. Great dialogue. Very nice work. :thumb:
  13. Woo! Love this rep. Great pics, funny narrative. Seemed like a good game. Your Flesh Construct is all kinds of sweet transvestite creepy, too. :bigok:
  14. Awesome rep, great story. You have talent! Thanks for that.
  15. Another important piece of errata. In effect, they've removed the Graverobber ability to Search for corpse counters. Whereas before a Graverobber could "dig" for corpses, that was too overpowering (so I'm told). Several models have the ability to manufacture corpse counters, and anyone with Graverobber can collect corpses counters, but no longer are Graverobbers able to Search and create counters.
  16. Good post, Unlisted. One niggle is that "Blocking" is no longer a valid game term according to the most recent errata (pg. 5): They've since replaced it with "Obscuring": Same difference ultimately, at least with regard to The Fog. The description of the Spell does not mention Obscuring ... though maybe it should.
  17. Holy wow. Amazing work, the blending is top shelf. Thanks for posting this!
  18. Absolutely. Is there a game system attached to them? I didn't even think to look ... Please do! I'd be very interested to see it. Since my Seamus will be gathering dust on a shelf, unloved and unpainted, there'll be no rush to get him table ready; plenty of time to consider different ways to convert him. Not sure I'd add an eyepatch, but the rest sounds interesting! A proxy would be nice, obviously I'd prefer to convert in the interest of being tournament legal. I'm just not that talented when it comes to modeling, the thought doesn't fill me with confidence. But, I suppose, if I'm gonna mutilate someone ... it might as well be Seamus.
  19. Dammit, that's a shame. I really like the sculpt. Oh well. I'll probably still pick him up, if only to paint and experiment with in casual games, and keep my fingers crossed for a buff down the road.
  20. Would it totally upset the fabric of the game to have two factions sharing a suit? I realize each suit is tied to a particular faction, or moreso a particular aspect of a specific faction. Each represents a source of magic with a Sphere of Influence: "Control, Deception, Defense, Speed" for Masks (for instance). So long as a new faction identifies with a certain suit thematically, and is different enough compared to the pre-existing faction, I could see there being at least two factions per suit.
  21. I have no wisdom to contribute, but I just wanted to say "Great thread, thanks!" I plan to add some beatstick to my McM/Nico crews in the very near future and these three are top contenders (Killjoy and Bete moreso than the Engine). I look forward to input from more experienced players.
  22. Oh snap, does Thwart apply to Strategies? My read-fu is weak (original post edited). As it stands, there's no downside to failing a Scheme. They represent potential VPs, zero risk. Lucidicide is correct; selecting the legal maximum appears to be the obvious, optimal approach. There's no reason NOT to. Is this by design? Or is there something I've failed to consider?
  23. That I can answer! Green for Ressurectionists, Gold for the Outcasts (Viktorias). Yay, me! :congrats:
  24. Two quick things: 1. Schemes. When would a player NOT take the maximum number of Schemes permitted by the size of the game (2 or 3)? I mean, besides avoiding Thwart? (( EDIT: I realize now that Thwart applies to Strats and not Schemes, thanks Lucidicide. )) So ... one should always take max Schemes, unannounced or otherwise. Right? 2. Multiple Masters in a Brawl. Generally, are the 10 additional Soulstones considered a worthwhile trade-off compared to a second Master with their own cache of stones? I look at a guy like Leveticus who can only join with Ramos, or Som'er Teeth who can only side with Zoraida (are there others I have missed?). If the player doesn't own and therefore cannot field the legal counterpart, will they be at a major disadvantage during a Brawl facing two enemy Masters? I simply wonder what the general consensus is. Cheers!
