  1. Thanks. My idea was to keep the bases very simple to make the girls stand out and appear a bit aloof to their surroundings. @ Rebeccajo, I'm sorry I've got no idea where the plate came from, I got it from my Mom when she baked a chocolate cake (she makes amazing chocolate cakes) and I washed the plastic plate when we'd finished it. You'd probably be able to pick up the same pattern in plasticard at and arts and crafts shop. @ Pixelante, I understand what you mean, the contrast seems to be lost a bit in the photos but you can still see the texture from a decent distance away, across the table at the least.
  2. Boat varnish can work as an alternative to water effect, no quite as good but a darn sight cheaper. the key like always, is to use multiple thin layers or it cracks.
  3. Looks like a good start. Nice choices on colour thee, the wood looks very natural. I look forward to seeing mire
  4. My fee will be in as soon I can get the swap.
  5. BTW Would you be prepared to share your recipe for the Terror tots skin. I'm digging thouse colours. I understand if you don't want to with it being a comission and all.
  6. As long as I can get a cover swap at work I should be along for this.
  7. I got my hardy from here http://www.villagehatshop.com/jaxon-felt-hats.html There's a good chance they'll have the sort of thing you're after.
  8. Nice. That highlighting looks really smooth and I'm digging the colour gradient.
  9. I've made a start on my Fire gamin. The skin is done for now, I might go back and do a few more highlights when I've done evrything else if I think the models need them. Normally I don't drybrush skin bit I thought it would give the right texture for the model.
  10. Hi guys, I've organised to host another demo day at Colosseum Rex in Sunderland. The event will be running from 12pm-4pm on May 5th and the store owner (Jay) is really keen to develop the gaming community in the area so come along. The store address is:- Colosseum Rex 21A Derwent Street Sunderland Tyne & Wear SR1 3NU The store is well located, about 2 minutes walk from Park Lane bus station and about 3 minutes walk from the Bridges shopping centre and multi-storey car park.
  11. That is a fantastic idea for basing you LSPA. It really showcases the 'arachnid' ability, and looks very natural which is ironic really.
  12. I saw these in the WAMP comp gallery and thought "Yup, their Perdita is better than mine" That's a nice crew there. Very clean smooth work on the highlights. I'm loving your base work too.
  13. Thanks. For the Hollow Waifs skintone I used EvilBleachMan's guide to Undead flesh, only I had to sub in with GW colours. The dress colours are all my own doing though. It does seem to be a strength of mine which is.... worrying, maybe I should have been a seamstress... :-)
  14. Hi guys, I thought rather than posting a whole bunch of different threads I would just start a blog-esque thread of what I'm working on/have finished. My resolution for 2013 is the same as 2012- Paint more models than I buy. I managed last year (46 painted to 41 bought, thank you very much) and I plan to do the same this year. Anyway I've been painting like a daemon since Christmas and gotten a fair bit done so here they are. First off I decided it was high time that I got my henchman application in so I got my second demo crew painted. The Ortega Gunslingers Perdita (who is also my entry for the WAMP painting competition) Francisco Nino Santiago Papa Loco (who doesn't seem to photograph very well) ---------- Post added at 08:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:04 PM ---------- The starts of my Leveticus crew The man himself Hollow Waif 1 Hollow Waif 2 (I'm using Miss Pack as a proxy) I've also got a LSPA painted up ---------- Post added at 08:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 PM ---------- Here's my WIP Rail crew The bases have be inspired (Read: ripped off) from some of the other Rail Crew threads on the board. Mei Feng & Emberling Kang Rail workers Rail Golem Metal Gamin Willie!
  15. The bases, believe it or not, are just cut out discs from some textured plastic plates I had lying around @Inquisitor Wall, I'll get some WIP pics taken and posted soon @Underdog6750, Thank you, I tried to get as authentic burlesque feel as I could.
  16. Wow! Those bushido models have a lot of character. each one is it's own little display piece.
  17. I saw this on the facebook page. She's a real beauty.
  18. How's this for a family resemblance?!? That's Ava on the left (2 days old) and her brother Daniel at 3 days old.
  19. The stockings on your showgirls look fantastic! I'm really digging those bases and the rather... suggestive way you've painted Cassandra's dress.
  20. Thanks guys Definately Ht 1 Harmless Puke and poop triggers on most actions.
  21. In March 29th at 3:40pm my wife gave birth to our second child, and my first daughter. Meet Ava Both mother and baby are doing well. I'm so proud of them both.
  22. This is an excellent crew. I really loke how smooth you'ge managed to get the highlights on these models, which couldn't have been easy considering how smooth most of the edges are on these models. I like you dreamer, you should be so well happy with him, shading the nightshirt so well on a model so small is an achievement in itself.
  23. That is very cool. I'm loving the subtle things too, loke the blood running out of the knotholes in the tree.
  24. Hi guys, As part of my apsiration to become a henchman (and to get some more people playing Malifaux in general) I will be running a demo day at Colosseum Rex in Sunderland between 12-4pm. This is a great new store and Jay (the owner) is kindly letting me use it to promote Malifaux. You can find the store at www.facebook.com/colosseum.rex Colosseum Rex 21a Derwent Street Sunderland Tyne & Wear SR1 3NU
