  1. With M2E finally out and real stat cards in my hand, I find my self wanting to play just about every crew! Currently I own the entire Resurrectionists, most of the Gremlins, the new Viktorias box, Pandora and Zoraida. I also own the Nytemare Undead Lady J box. More so than anything, I'm trying to figure out what crew I want to use for my first league in M2E. I am the acting Henchmen so I think crew selection is quite important. It's going to be single master, so once again choice is very important!! Below is a list of what I'd actually want to play of what I own and my reasons for wanting to play them. Seamus - I did most of my PT games with him as he was my main for the past 2 years in M1E. I helped mold his play style through PT games and I feel as my favorite character in the fluff, I want to play him more. However, I feel like his new play style doesn't carry over the fun that his old style (for me) used to. My old box is painted up nicely, the bright colors attract players, as well as the theme of undead hookers!! McMourning - Dougie Booms seems like the freshest face in the Ressers for me. I love the poison over body parts, and I love how most of his crew interacts with poison. I can see myself having boat loads of fun with the good doctor. He is painted. Pandora - Out of all the masters in M2E I think Pandora fits my play style the most. I like control over my opponents actions, she does this with ease! I've played Pandora about 4-5 times now, and I like her a lot, I just feel my group wont want to play me in a few weeks if I keep playing her lol. I see my self getting very good with her to the point where it might be an NPE. I also own the original Avatar model, which makes for an awesome alternate (and rare) sculpt! Once I paint it up it will be a center peice model that I think would turn heads! Zoraida - I think its more of a wanting to try something new. Not sure how I really feel about Mama Z, but I own her and want to see what she can do. Viktorias - Book was sold out by the time my ninja shopper made it over to the booth at Gencon, so I told him to buy me the Vik box for ****s and giggles. I love the plastics, they're hotsauce and I want to show them off to attract new players. I've always liked what the Vik's can do, I'm not sure if I'm feeling their crew, though. Som'er - He was my first master ever, but me and the gremlin with the biggest hat have grown apart (sad, I know). I like his M2E rules much better than his M1E rules, as I feel he does a lot more than just sit back and fart out mosquitos and Bayou Gremlins. Brew Master - A master who debuffs the enemy by forcing intoxication...whats not to love! Only real problem here is the model isn't out, so I would be proxying most of the crew, not the greatest way to attract new players! What are your guys thoughts!?
  2. It's funny, cause my girlfriend thinks the models are extremely hot! Not that she'd ever play, but the idea of painting one or two has crossed her mind. However, one of my lesbian friends/players hates the new "Sin City/Sucker Punch" sexiness the new models possess, as she things they're a little over the top.
  3. Thanks Fetid, I had the abilities mixed. I have been playing it in the order you have, I just dont have the names down yet. I dont know, the ability to tell your opponent when they can/can't activate their own models can become a major NPE in my opinion. People want to play with their toys, Pandora tells them when they can do it. I Played a game last Thursday against probably my groups best sportsman (takes a beating like a champ, is humble when he wins) and I could see the look of frustration on his face when his crew couldn't activate when he wanted them to. I had his Misaki crew pretty much whiped out by turn 3 (mostly cause Misaki could never activate early in the turn) including finishing off both Misaki and Yamaziko in turn 2. Also, repeating the phrase "no, activate model X instead" was getting old for both me and my opponent. Pandora still plays "Pandora" instead of Malifaux, in my opinion. Maybe its just me, but I still feel she is crazy powerful.
  4. I've played a handfull of games with Pandora (for a change of pace) and I already feel like her play style is very much an NPE. Incite is super powerful, I almost always make sure I get my trigger off to control two of my opponents activations. This way I can guarantee my big models will be activating before theirs! In my games I usually rush Pandora to the center of the board and just melt face. It really pays to be aggressive with her, so you can start controlling your opponents activations, all the while nuking models that are imminent threats. With her defense against most duels at a 7, and Fading Memory, she really should be where you need her to be/out of harms way. I've been taking at least 2 Sorrows and staking them close to Pandora, this way my opponent really needs to really be selective about which WP duels they can afford to fail. I really like the combo of "No Body Likes Me" and Candy to auto paralyze models with Sweets. Also, "Pitty" on a solitary target to make them activate first in the turn, to take 3 damage from Sours! Like I said before, it really pays to be aggressive with Pandora and co., they benefit from being shoved down the enemies throat!! My worst match up was against Sonnia, and I'd assume the same would be against Raspy. I guess the best adivse would be to not bunch up, that way if either of them want to put damage on Pandora, they need to target her specifically, which may result in her getting a free 4" push if they fail to land the action. I would put her on a flank and walk up until she can engage the enemy crew in melee, where you'll be a little less vulerable to blast damage.
  5. So I came across an issue when building my Viktoria's box. The ronin with the pig tails has an issue with her right arm, where its just too big to fit on top of her left hand holding the sword. Also, the scale of her right hand in comparison to the rest of her body is way off. I cut/shaved it down to fit, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue?
  6. I'd love to see a PDF version of the Rules. Wouldnt even need to have the fluff, I just like the convinience of sifting through rules pages on my iPad lol.
  7. Does Seamus still have his, "He's Insane!" trigger on the BoT? Also, is McMournings Summon trigger still called "Abra Cadaver!"?
  8. Sooo, where are all the typical Gencon preview pics from all of those fortunate enough to be at the con? I figured we'd see some snapshots of the new artwork and the new plastics by now lol.
  9. I have also decided to play some Neverborn in M2E! I've had Pandora and Mama Z for ever, but never got them on the table in 1.5 (mostly cause of the stigma NB had as being OP). I won't be buying any new plastics this year (at least not during the con) but I can say I can relate to your excitement to play something new!!
  10. In M2E 50ss seems to be the standard size. It may seem like a big step from 25ss, but with upgrade cards it tends to keep the model count down to between 7-8 (on the average).
  11. The new Belles are really nice. It is going to be hard to replace the ones I currently have painted, though. The more I look at the new Seamus, the more I kinda like it. I'll hold off on getting the box until its official release.
  12. Or take a crew full of Jack Daws...then her crew really can't do much of anything =P.
  13. Are you playing 1.5 or M2E at this point? Seamus plays very different between edditions, so model choice will vary. However, the starter box + the CCK is a very good start for either. I like Punk Zombies for some extra melee punch (both edditions), The Hanged for their will power shenanigans, Canine Remains make great objective runners/future corpses for late game summons.
  14. My avatar is a picture of my painted Seamus, if that helps.
  15. Faces can be tricky because you are trying to shade/highlight a rather small surface area of the model, but it's also a very important area of the model. Here's a simple version of what I've learned: 1) Start with a dark flesh town and faint the full area of the face. For my flesh tones it's usually GW Dark Flesh (I don't know what the new one is called as I don't have it). 2) Using the next lightest flesh tone (usually GW Dwarf Flesh...or w/e they're calling it these days) I paint most of the area of the face accept the cracks, like the eyes and mouth. I leave the dark flesh showing, this starts to create the illusion that their is depth. 3) Taking the next lightest flesh tone (Elf Flesh, or the new GW equivilent) I paint tiny circles on the cheek, chin, nose and forehead. You don't want to cover too much of the Dwarf flesh, keep in mine you're trying to create depth. 4) Lastly, I take my Dwarf Flesh and mix in a bit of water to create a wash. Some people say it should be the consitency of "skim milk" so I guess I'll go with that lol. Once the paint and water are mixed, paint the face with the wash to blend the shades/highlights together. Be sure to wait for your final highlight to have dried before you take this step. Hope this helps!! Edit: Dammit, suggesting painting tips after Mako ninja'd me =P.
  16. Couldn't agree more. I really don't understand why people think Wyrd would/should take steps to support what is obviously an obslolete eddition in their eyes. Either get used to the new eddtion, play the old one in a private with your own changes, or just dont play at all. No reason to make a fuss. There will always be new games and old games you no longer play, its the nature of the beast. It sucks if you can't get on board with the new changes.
  17. Listened to most of the podcast, must say I'm a little dissipointed in the overall tone of the episode. I understand your feelings towards the new edition. My play test group went through a rough patch where we all almost rage quit and moved on from the game. Since then, we've taken a step back and have actually learned to like the edition. Also, I went through the same thing with WHFB 8.0 when it was first released and have pretty much stop playing that game all together. Sometimes change is bad, but I think you guys could have done this episode with a little more maturity, IMHO. I agree with some of your points, but the overall tone and child like snickering at some of your opinions made the episode a little bit of a tough listen at times. I'd say I went into this as a person with an opposed political mindset, listening to the thoughts an opinions of the other side. I gave it a shot. It's unfortunate to say this, but if this is the future of Gamers Lounge episodes I don't see my self tuning in too much anymore.
  18. I've been demoing M2E. It's much easier and cleaner to teach new players the rules with the "bare bones" models. Also, as others have mentioned, M2E is getting pre-released at Gencon and will hit shelves not too far after that, so why teach players a rules set thats over complicated and being replaced.
  19. The good thing about both of those crews is that they're both 10t (even though Mei is duel 10t/Aracanist) which means you really can't go wrong with either of them to start. You'll have options no matter what box you go with and if you decide one over the other, initially, you wont have much trouble mixing and matching if you decide on picking up the other box in the future. Two things though that may or may not sway your decision. 1) Mei is duel faction 10t/Arcanist, so you'll have the option of playing two factions with her, which in the future may lead you to stick with one of the two factions as your primary. For a new player this is a great option to have for your initial investment! Also, she's the Chung Lee of Malifaux...kicking the sh#t out of everyone (litteraly). 2) No one is currently playing Misaki in our shop, so you'd be the only person really using her at the moment. I don't know how much something like that means to you, but some people (like my self) are weird like that and like to play the things that collect dust in a community. It's partly how I fell into playing Ressers!!!
  20. There will be a lot (too many I think) of Resser lists that include Izamu...he is too good not too. I think thats the problem with Wyrd's design philosophy recently, but that's a discussion for a different thread lol.
  21. With the winter weather storm due to hit the NY/Tristate area this evening, it seems I'll be snowed in. I plan on drinking (an adult beverage or 4!!), staying warm, catcing up on Archer and would also like to squeek in a game of Malifaux via vassal!! Would any one be up for a game tonight, around 8pm EST? I haven't played on Vassal in a while so I'll need a refresher.
  22. You're making me want to take out my Gremlins again!
  23. He was the driver of the car at the time the US went over the fiscal cliff!
  24. How dare you disrespect beer like that!! My major beef with the Avatars is the overall price you pay (in real monies, not soul stones lol) for a model you may, and in most circumstances, use for half the game. I think they can be a of fun otherwise and I do wish my local meta used them more.
