  1. What was the outcome of this project? I'm interested in it at the moment for creating a temporary card for my Ice Dancer proxies...
  2. @Vlad: Aside from needing the Brotherhood of the Rat Encounter Box (due to the large amounts of Malifaux Rats needed, and for the Rat Kings), you'll need the following: Encounter One, Infestation (Solo Play): Five pieces of terrain, all 6" x 6". Each counts as Ht 5, Impassable and Blocking. Place one in each corner and one in the center. Encounter Two, Swarmed! (Two Player): No special markers or terrain required. Encounter Three, The Piper's Call (Three Player): No special markers or terrain required.
  3. Maybe this is a daft question, but how exactly does one deepen the shadows on one's model without ruining the effect? This is coming from someone who has only recently discovered zenith lighting.
  4. Has anyone played the story encounters in the Brotherhood of the Rat box? I'm a little confused as to how the encounters themselves are supposed to work. I've tried the single player one, but found it was far too easy. This usually indicates that I'm doing something wrong, haha. Eight rats against my 25SS Snow Storm crew is just one-sided. I killed everything inside of two turns. :/ The second encounter, 'Swarmed', really confused me. It's two players, but the rules for the rats are bit vague. Is it a normal game with the exception of non-peons carrying the Voracious Rats rule?
  5. Rabbeting is a fantastic technique that I, very fortunately, discovered while constructing my diorama. I feel terrible that I forgot to check this forum while doing so though. It almost makes it feel like a wasted resource. That said, I'll have plenty to think of for my next project! ? haychdee, that is a gorgeous display. Unfortunately, I usually build quite large dioramas, vertically speaking. I'll certainly keep that in mind if I do a flat or low-set one though?
  6. Yeah, but you can't really bring a display that large to a Malifaux tournament, can you? It's just too large!
  7. I've done a display board and am currently working on my second, but mostly for my own benefit. I like competing with another guy from my local store for Best Painted and Presented, but it also helps further my skills in the hobby! To answer your question though, no, I do not present the entire faction. There are way too many characters for that kind of shenanigan. However, I will happily place every model that I might consider taking in a tournament on that board. For example, the mountain display I made for my Rasputina crew:
  8. Hey guys, I've done up a bunch of nice cobblestone bases for my Hamelin crew, and I was thinking of painting them up to look as if the characters are wandering around the streets at night. Problem is, having never done anything of the sort before I have no idea how I should go about it. In fact, I don't really know how I should go about painting the models themselves to look like they're in darkness - other than picking tones a few shades darker than I normally would. Any suggestions?
  9. Awesome, that really helps! Thanks a bunch, @snitchythedog
  10. Interesting. Thanks for the input, @Bengt!
  11. I'm assuming this is the correct forum for this question, so here goes. Lately I've taken to constructing dioramas to display my crews at tournaments. I'm still new to this of course, so there are many things I don't yet know. For instance, how to present the display neatly and tidily on the outside. When building mine, I tend to use black foam-core. This means I end up with horrible strips of visible foam along the edges that shows up no matter what I do to cover it. So, I was wondering, for those who do, how do you achieve the lovely solid black on your diorama's outside walls? For reference, the blacked edges on this marvelous piece is what I'm talking about:
  12. It's high time I started posting again! I'd love to know what you all think of my latest work. :)

  13. @MasterDisaster: Thanks for the pictures, it looks fantastic. @OmenBringer: Thanks for the tip. I've been tossing up between a wire cutter and a hot knife, but given the shallow depth that wire cutters seem to have I've been leaning more towards the knife as it seems a hell of a lot more versatile. As for basing, I think I'm going to go with 10mm plywood boards to give it that extra bit of strength. I'd love to see what your board looks like though! And uh, @Daddy4Count and @MisterCactus? I hope you realise that your answers were not for my question.
  14. Ah, fair enough. I discovered a hot knife tool that could conceivably do the trick, so I might give that a go.
  15. Fantasic, thank you! Also; Can anyone educate me as to how to cut extruded foam cleanly without having to buy one of those tiny little hot wire cutters? ><
