  1. Who needs keyboards when you have a Naga? Best. Mouse. Ever.
  2. So instead of a thread with 90 posts, you'd rather see 5 posts and the thread is done? Sure, all those other threads have gone off from their original topic, but they are still active, generating multiple pages of discussion. Huh. Discussion on a forum. What a novel concept.
  3. Lately I've been experiencing thoughts. Weird and unusual musings that I can't quite place. I've always had a "there is no proof of God, therefore there is no God" belief system. Lately, I'm finding there is something missing in my life. It might be a physical thing, it might be an emotional thing, or it might be something else. What if organized religion (be it Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, or any number of others) are right? What if there is some supreme being(s)? What if [insert religion] is right? Have I screwed myself by refusing to accept those beliefs? There are many people for whom faith, trust in the unknown, religion, whatever you want to call it guides their life. I've always though it was just a crutch, a way to rationalize the irrational. But what if I am the one who is wrong? For those who believe in something, anything, why do you believe in it? Is it because that is how you were raised, or because deep down inside you feel it is the right thing? Is it social pressure from your family, friends, and peers? Is it just the way it is? I'm not looking to start a fight. I'm not looking to say one thing is wrong. I want to know why you feel it is right. I'm at a point in my life where something isn't right. I don't know if it is my beliefs (or lack there of) or if it is something else. I'm looking for the answer to a question that may be unanswerable. I feel that I am at the end of the rope, grasping at the few frayed threads that remain. Looking for an answer, any answer that may help me climb back up the rope and find who I should be, who I really am.
  4. I think avatars while changing the game, are changing it for the better. If there is no "power creep" then things get stagnant and boring. Avatars up the ante, and bring something different and unique to the table.
  5. and if you let her think she has the upperhand in gaming, you might be able to sneak non-gaming things past her while she's distracted!
  6. You can post whatever you want, even crappy comebacks. My point is people seem to think that Terraclips is going to be the most super awesome thing ever. It is a box of cardboard and some plastic clips. There is only so much you can do with that. And the amount of space it covers and looks ok compared to the amount of GW terrain you'd need to cover the same amount of space isn't even comparable. Not to mention at the end of the game you pop the clips off and stuff it back in the box and are good to go. You can either store several 3x3 tables worth of terrain in a 1 foot cube, or you can have a rack of terrain that takes up tons of space and maybe covers an 8x4 table. If you don't like it, fine, nobody said you have to, but for what it is, people should have reasonable expectations.
  7. I really don't know what people are expecting out of some cardboard and plastic clips. You aren't going to open the box, push a button, and get a games day table.
  8. Clearly a trip to the FLGS is in order then. If they are closed, find a mob and start looting. Its the thing to do during disasters.
  9. My first guess would be a "just in case clause". My second guess is "red herring". Eric is probably in his office right now, burried under a pile of GenCon profits cackling about the conspiracy theories this thread will create.
  10. Nice work Chev, although from behind his pocket watch looks... inappropriate...
  11. I kinda hope we get alt sculpt warpigs, with the more cartoony look of the pigapult pig.
  12. If all you do is focus on YOUR strategies and schemes, why play a multiplayer game? There needs to be direct interaction between both players, if there isn't you might as well just be masturbating.
  13. Talk to the store. Let them know you want to see organized events. Make sure the store sees that there are people interested and actively playing the game. If there isn't a representative of the store interested in becoming a Henchman, take the mantle yourself and offer to run events on behalf of the store. The most important thing though is to let them know there is interest in the game.
  14. Nice looking work. If I was going to criticize anything, it would be that the shading on most of the skin is a little harsh, especially on Lady J's chest. I really like the daydreams though, nice and simple and well executed.
  15. Seeing it in someone's hand and especially sideways makes the ram and crow look much smaller than I had originally thought. I guess that's good for construction and transportation, but its a little disappointing none the less.
  16. Hey, I never said anything about any of those things. I said it isn't fun to lose, so if you are going to play, play to win. And that the way gamers are trained from other games is so deeply ingrained that a radical new system such as "play the strategies, not to table your opponent" are bound to fail.
  17. Aggressive moderation does not lead to productive discussions. It kills communities. If every time a thread gets "heated" it gets locked, eventually people stop trying and nobody posts anything of use. Start locking all the balance threads, and soon the only threads you'll see are "I like the way crew X looks, but my buddy is already playing it, what should I do?" The someone says "play y, they are better anyways" and the thread is locked, since its turning into a debate about who's stronger. A community should be about the free exchange of ideas, not making people afraid to discuss things.
  18. Sure, some guilds will have you bring in an alt for a night, but that alt won't be as well geared, it won't have the same DKP as your main, or other mains you may be competing with for gear, if you are even eligible to get gear with your alt. Even if you have an offspec for your main, you may be at a disadvantage when it comes to getting loot or DKP for your efforts. In any hardcore raiding guild you will have a main with a primary spec, and if you have the option to play something else, you will be placed at a sever disadvantage, which is not balanced or fun. There is also a difference between "buying the best models" and "having to own every option available".
  19. Pick faction, pick strategies, pick crew is all fine and dandy, and is a really neat way of doing htings, but it doesn't work. Why? Because that isn't how gamers are trained. You build your magic deck, that is the deck you are playing in your tournament. You can't switch from goblins to mono-black control just because your round 3 opponent is playing Caw-Blade. In warhammer you pick one or two lists, and those are the lists you play for the day. In D&D you build your character, and you play him till he's dead. You don't get to create a new character when the DM tells you what is in the dungeon. You pick a class in WoW. You don't get to change from warlock to death knight on raid night just because your raid leader would rather have a melee class. We are taught to make a choice and stick with it. And that should always be a viable option. There are any number of reasons covered untold times in other threads why someone might not have every single model for their faction. And they shouldn't have to in order to have a fighting chance. It isn't so much that the game is balanced faction vs. faction but bank account vs. bank account.
  20. There is nothing fun about losing. It sucks. It is the epitome of not fun. I can not think of a single game of anything I have played where I lost and thought it was more fun than any number of things I could have done that wouldn't have resulted in losing.
  21. If it doesn't work on paper, how are you supposed to know if it will work in game? How are you supposed to make choices and theorycraft if things aren't balanced in 1000s of iterations of the same encounter? The balance should come from all crews having an equal chance against all crews based on the raw stats. Why play if you aren't playing to win? How is playing to lose fun?If you spend the time and money to gather and build a crew, it should have a fair chance against any other crew, no matter what choices the pother player has made.. The fun in Magic doesn't come from keeping 2 mana for a counter spell, or 3 mana to stop your opponents mana leak, but from the knowledge that you made the right play and won.
  22. What if someone is always shuffling their hand, good or bad? Especially in the most obnoxious way possible?
  23. My opponent usually has armor. Or Nino. Or the amazing god hand and able to lure my models every single time they pick up the treasure counter.
  24. Easily my favorite product name in their catalog. I lol'd heartily when I first saw it.
  25. Another thing I can't live without anymore is [ame=http://www.amazon.com/General-Pencil-BRUSH-CLEANER-1OZ/dp/B001TNR7VM]The Masters Brush cleaner and preserver[/ame]. The stuff is like a little cake of awesome for your brushes.
