  1. Hi guys! I'm going to be filming a 4 game beginner series for Malifaux featuring Outcasts and Neverborn. The Outcast master will be Von Schill and Jacob Lynch and Co. will be heading up the Neverborn. This series will start with a Henchmen game at 20SS and then escalate to a Master led game at 30, 40 and 50SS. I figured why not ask for input on the four lists. I'll be putting the Neverborn version of this in their forum. I will be sent and be painting up Outcasts from the following model pool. This will be all I have for models so no subs! - Von Schill Starter - Hannah - Hans - Strongarm box (I guess I'll have an extra?) - Vanessa The Neverborn pool will have access to... - Jacob Lynch Starter - Mr Tannen - Mr Graves - The Depleted - Waldgeist We will be focusing on basic Strategies. First two games will be Turf War, then Squatters Rights, then Stake a Claim. Schemes as normal. Thanks in advance! Ash
  2. That's interesting. Are all the conditions resolved before Actions are generated? Makes Shrug Off far less effective in this edition if that's the case!
  3. Hey folks! My first game of 2E in about three years. Played lots in 1st Edition but had a long hiatus. Mistakes we know we made; activating more than two models with companions. Black Joker is now 0 and not just a dead duel. Can't cheat against a Red Joker, etc. Will have more in the future! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VALYgjVtpo Cheers, Ash
  4. Hey guys, In my quest to collect all the original Guild Metals (this isn't a game thing; more of a completionist thing I am looking to buy... - Witchling Handler - Brutal Effigy - Peacekeeper I've just scrounged every other model off the internets various e-retailers. PM me if you've got a lead or are willing to part with one! Ash
  5. So pro's: - It only requires them to paint a handful of models. - It keeps the number of schemes simple for their first game or two so they can learn the mechanics and uses a simple strategy. - It keeps the amount of special rules to memorize fairly short. Con's - It hamstrings at least one faction quite badly (this is certainly something to consider) - It isn't a 50 pt game and thus isn't 'real malifaux' - Its mom and dad weren't married. So all that being considered I think I'll just suggest we play 20SS games for the first two we play (which basically covers all the pro's bases anyway) and just use the full gamut of rules. I'd like the guys to be able to play a game or two in rapid succession to get their rules-on and that seems to fit the bill.
  6. That's pretty much what I was thinking. They'll get the hand of the cards, actions and Ca / Sh / Ml Mechanics, triggers and suits. They'll have a basic Strat and Scheme to go for. We can graduate on to full crews later but I think that format will help with the learning curve.
  7. It would be more to teach basic mechanics. We COULD just play a 20SS format with only Henchmen and call it that, but fixing the schemes and strats seemed like an easy way to teach the principles of those two things without bogging it down in selection. I'm planning on just a game or two in that format to start off. I might even just pick forces that are fairly well matched to make it even simpler.
  8. Hey guys, I'm going to be starting up a web series teaching some folks to play Malifaux and I'm considering the Henchmen Hardcore format as a starting point. 20 SS, 4 models (no more no less) basic Cache, No summoning, Strategy is Turf War, Scheme is Assassinate. Seems dead simple for new players and should even out the learning curve some starters come with. I'll have all my Guild stuff as well as a pile of older Ress and Neverborn figs to make some demo forces out of. Thoughts?

    Memphis

Is that group hosted somewhere online? Searching for U Miss and OMGA just brings up a lot of fraternity links. Never mind; Ole Miss Gaming Association Figured it out.

    Memphis

I'm in Memphis, though you won't be finding much in the way of Gaming shops that support a lot of indy gaming. For other Memphis gamers check out Memphis Tabletop Gamers. The forum is fairly quiet, but it is a place for folks to post what's going on and when.
  11. Yup! I'm actually getting married next year the same weekend as Gencon (i know... Poor planning.. ). Hopefully I can make Dragon Con! The mid south is pretty barren for gaming compared to my hometown of Toronto. It's taking some getting used to!
  12. Whereabouts, Nashvlle? There was a gaming convention here in town this past weekend, but I didn't hear of any miniature gaming action.
  13. Hey folks, I've just moved to Memphis from the thriving Malifaux city of Toronto and have left all of my Gaming Group behind! I've got painted Guild, Resurrectionist and Neverborn crews, tons of scenery and no one to play! I play a ton of other games as well. Anyone in the area?
  14. Dark Age and Malifaux are currently in the lead, with Dark Age ahead by a bit!
  15. I'd definitely pit Nino and Francisco against 12 SSs of any other troops and expect them to come out ahead every time. Great ranged abilities and with Nino's ability to leave combat and Francisco's good mix of value up close and at range they're definitely a deadly-duo.
  16. The round-2 voting has now started to pick the game. It's a run between... Firestorm Armada Malifaux Mk2 Warmachine Dark Age
  17. Love how the building separates into two halves. Well done.
  18. As a Torontonian... I've given up on local hockey. I just watch playoff hockey now.
  19. Thanks dude! I like models to pop from 2-3 feet away (because that's usually how you see them). I'm also pretty fearless about macro-photography... it's the only way you REALLY get to see how they're painted.
  20. Achilles - Greatest hero of the Trojan war, died because of his own hubris. Reminds me to mind myself.
  21. Painted a few more model! Perdita Francisco Convict Gunslinger
  22. And I got murdered by Bayou Gremlins! Oh the humanity!
  23. I actually use the 5th Edition Warhammer collectors tin. Small, goes in my bag and carries just the right number of models. Other than that, I use Chessex cases. Highly recommended from my Confrontation 3.X days.
