  1. how are you defining mortuary models? why not include flesh constructs and guild autopsies?
  2. TBH if your biggest complaint about wyrd models is the thickness of the base tab........
  3. On topic; I have built models for many years and there have been some stinkers (Skorne titans have particularly unplesant memories). I have no complaints about the quality of wyrd castings, yes some of the parts don't go together perfectly, (I had to fill small gaps on avatar sonnia) but that is true of all manufacturers I have come across, but the quality of the parts is still excellent. Off topic; I don't care for alt seamus - he looks as if he has just changed back from avatar form and I agree the style has become more cartoony- the doxy on his base reminds me of an undead Jessica Rabbit. Thing is for some models it works but for others it doesn't. Thats life, and thats my opinion. It isn't necessarily right. And its not just Wyrd- I love Everblight but can't stand the Nyss models. Dare I suggest that part of it may be due to the painting -the new Somer seems to have spent time in a tanning salon. On topic again; I am happy that Wyrd care more about the look of the models rather than the ease of assembly. Besides they are a lot easier to assemble than some of Rackhams stuff was - and dont get me started on Mortenebra! And so far I have found that although they are intricate, if properly pinned and filled, they are still robust enough to stand up to transportation and regular gaming.
  4. Ive ordered from maelstrom 6 times and on 4 of these the items have been delayed because, guess what? Out of stock - even when the website is still listing them as being in stock. Fenris are excellent both quality wise and in the speed which they despatch things - it is phenomenal. I have also found Arcane Miniatures to be very good. They seem to have better stock control than Maelstrom. Used them regularly for years and I think only one item in one order has been delayed.
  5. I play regularly at Worlds at war. Started off just me and David Kerr Smith but we now have a small league running with 5-6 players. DKS beat me just last week with his Kaeris crew, but then I really messed up my first shot with Sonnias avatar. Kept forgetting abilities. Will be at the March tourney. Will try and work out Facebook.
  6. hi Malandres Not on facebook myself but good to see other players.
  7. #21 Diehard reminded me Dark Future. GW used to make some lovely little models.
  8. when i started out GW was the only thing really available and over the 20+ years inbetween I have collected vast amounts of models for warhammer, 40k, epic, necromunda and the more obscure games - laserburn, GorkaMorka, Man o War, etc. Hell, I've even got a box of their Doctor Who and Judge Dredd ranges (with the hexagonal slottabases). My relationship was always love/hate in that i liked the fantsay battle idea but didnt really buy into the warhammer world. loved certain fluff such as lizardmen but equally thought beastmen were poodlepooh. I don't play any more for a large number of reasons; 1. The games have an emphasis on 'power creep' -every army has to be better than the previous one. 2.the price is actually not that bad, but you need so many miniatures that it becomes expensive. 3. as far back as 12-15 years ago their mail order service was c*** and has never got better (it is on a par with Maelstrom without the excuse that they get models from other suppliers). I had particularly bad experience with White Dwarf subscriptions -the enthusiasm displayed by shop staff is not shared by their support teams. 4. with large/huge armies characters either don't get used or are so insanely overpowered that you just don't get to see any subtle influences . The models are fairly good -and have got markedly better over the last few years, which i think is due to the rise of other, better quality manufacturers (Wyrd [obviuosly] kingdom death, Confrontation/Rackham] athough Warmahordes are a bit hit and miss [they have a good game system though]. So what makes Malifaux so good? well, (so far) there isn't really 'power creep'. Crews dont become obsolete simply because the newest one is not only geared to beat them but also tooled up to be untouchable by them. you don't need vast numbers of identical models that you spend hours painting and then know that they will be removed from the battle in minutes after being deployed. the range of models and abilities/schemes and strategies is enough to keep your 100th games as interesting and different as your 1st. Whereas GW armies have a playstyle and tactics that doesn't change and there is little scope for variation.
  9. In UK, loctite do a new superglue called powerflex which has a bit of give to it and is very good for small bits. Plus it comes as a gel so is easy to apply very accurately. Don't know what it is called (or if available) in other countries.
  10. the other thing about accelerant is that the bond is significantly weaker and much, much, more brittle than just letting the glue dry normally. It has its uses but is far from brilliant.
  11. I drilled out the head of dead riders horse and used the base of the spikes like pins. Superglued the spikes in then a little dab of liquid green stuff. lost about 3mm on each spike in the recesses but they are rock solid (dropped twice and not a problem) and given the length of the spikes to start with you cant really tell the difference.
  12. As an 'old fart' of quite a bit past 20 (thank you One Who Fell), i agree -the figures are amazing. But so is the game. I remember games played with unidentifable lumps of lead and plastic (actually... come to think of it that was last weeks 40k battle) and unintelligible rules systems. But the important thing Marc - where are you based?
  13. ah.............when I said 173 I meant that was how many I had. I also didn't count Donna the cauldron witch who is technically (I think)from the twisted range but features in one of the seasonal scenarios from a couple of years ago.
  14. 173 if you go by bases -counting my coryphee duet and my arachnid swarms as 1 each.
  15. hi mate, welcome to the Faux. I'm in Edinburgh myself, but try pm Dangerousbeans -I believe he plays in Glasgow at G3. If you are evr over Edinburgh or Livingston way there are a fair few of us who will give you a game.
  16. Teddy and baby kade....... and then Seamus................. and then..............suddenly I have 22 crews, 3 avatars and a large hole in my bank balance. And I still can't decide what my favourite model is!
  17. I would not be convinced about this as I could see it creating more uncertainty rather than resolving issues. I think games could get into a where players have seen different resolutions or announcements and can't agree. Thats not to say that such situations don't currently arise. While it may take a while for a definitive decision to emerge, any such decision is both definitive (by definition) and (hopefully) based on careful consideration. What good is an interim ruling where it is neither definitive (by definition) and may be out of date/have been updated/not been read by the opponent? What weight does such a ruling carry in the game and what happens if opponent says not happy? An interim ruling = an opinion. You have one, your opponent has one.
  18. Oh, and they are unbelievably fast at sending them out!
  19. I have used fenris bases for all my crews except my guild (who are on Wyrd sewer bases). Used the graveyard and woodland path ones. My only mild comment is that they do 30 and 40 mm graveyard bases but not a 50mm one. And with the woodland ones they only do 30mm. That said they sell a pack of little individual gravestones which helps keep bigger based models consistent.
  20. As a buyer and seller on ebay, I did not realise that you could delete negative feedback. I understood it could only be removed if both parties agreed? One thing -they have 6 pages of listing items and have been registered on ebay since 2004. So the feedback level of 268 seems low especially when 241 of these are in the last year. Maybe a single guy who has taken the plunge to start trading and is trying to build up a business. Lets not rush to condemn on one bad experience. After all, look at how many people are prepared to wait months on orders from Maelstrom Games when they can get the stuff elsewhere.
  21. Ramos and Levi as Waldorf and Statler. 'what do you think of it so far?' 'what a load of scrap counters'
  22. Mactavish is a lovely model and fluffwise nice as well. It would spoil it all if it turned out he was just a secret Kermit fetishist! (maybe in book 4 there could be Warpig with a grudge against him) Hard to tell on the model pictures if they are gupps or frogs. but in the book artwork they look less froglike and quite similar to the little dudes floating around the broodmothers feet.
  23. Arent the little green things hanging from McTavishs belt Gupps? If so then they are tiny!
  24. Green stuff a bikini top on the convict GS!
