  1. Thanks for the props bro!! Really appreciate it. I was really nervous about doing the skull faces on these but it was screaming at me to give it a go. I got lucky. Cheers, John...
  2. Thanks. If I ever do I will surely let you know. But I am diggin the game so much I will be holding on to these dudes for a bit. Just picked up three more (Haha... shiny syndrome at it again). Cheers, John...
  3. Thanks everyone. I am sure you have the skills bro. I plan on making a tutorial out of these soon. I will let you know when it is posted so you can check it out. The fish are really easy to make actually. It will also show how to make the Torii piece as well and that too is easy to make. You can actually put more effort into those and make them look even better. Cheers, John...
  4. I have not finished the box. I am hoping to get back on them here shortly after I assemble the grundle of figs I have picked up for this game. I have shiny syndrome bad. Haha... John...
  5. Here are three pieces I made for AWP challenge a bit ago. They were fun to make and turned out better than I had hoped. Q&C welcome. Cheers, John...
  6. I thought I had posted the finished pieces here but I was out to lunch I guess. So here they are completed. Cheers, John...
  7. Oooooo. I really like what you have done. Sweet painting going on and the bases are making jealous. They are very creative and well executed. Cheers, John...
  8. Your execution and colors are well done. You mentioned in your post that you don't have the talent to achieve a painting level. I would tend to disagree with you. My mother was an art teacher for almost 30 years and she believed anyone could do art. Some just might take more effort to get somewhere. You display what I believe are the three key elements to miniature painting. You have the desire, brush control and patients to paint. Two of those you cannot teach anyone. You also have good color choice as well as throwing details in like the bottom of the cape that is dirty. Blending is one of the more difficult things to learn because you need to thin your paint and do multiple layers. Jennifer Haley has a great video that helps with smooth color transition. Anyway keep painting and having fun with it. Bottom line is if you are happy with your miniatures that is all that matters. Cheers, John...
  9. Sweet looking group there. Very well done. You mentioned you were going for mud looking bases on these guys. Depending on how moist you are thinking you might want to throw some gloss on the mud here and there. I wouldn't recommend a high gloss though. Just a medium gloss in the deeper are areas of the bases to give it a moist feel. Just a thought. Cheers, John...
  10. I have taken a break from terrain building, slapped some figs together and over the Thanksgiving Holiday decided to sling some paint. I wanted to start with the Witchling Stalkers because I had some ideas. I wanted them all different while having something that would tie them together. I have my Jawa Stalker, Shaolin Stalker and Outdoorsman Stalker. I was watching Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise during one painting session and saw the soldiers that marched out with the Full Metal B!#$@& and thought those skulls would look cool on these stalkers. I remember seeing those skull bandanna's around as well. I was nervous to try because of the time I has already spent on them and was concerned about screwing up. I think I got lucky. Anyway here they are. Can't wait to sling more paint on these dudes. Cheers, John...
  11. @Malal, I have finally put all my pictures of this piece in one place now. I added a few notes as well. If you have any questions let me know. http://totembadgers.blogspot.com/2014/11/row-house-table-top-gaming-terrain.html Cheers, John...
  12. Thanks man. When it is all said and done no foam will be showing on this piece except for inside the windows and backside which I will end up painting black. I plan on covering it all with something. The rocks that are carved into the various areas was carved in. I would first frame the area in giving me about 1/4" deep at least. Then I would mix some plaster and pour it in the area I just framed in. The key here is not to let it dry all the way. I wait about 45 minutes or so then start carving. I always have a brush when I do this to remove material that I have just carved up. Hope that helps. I plan on giving more detail on our blog when I get a moment with more pictures. Cheers, John...
  13. Here some more progress on this piece. The dirt is done. I decided to try something new on the second piece and do the dirt first and attach the garbage after. We will see how that goes. I have painted the pieces of wood, the backpack and some material. Doing a medium job on them so it will look good at arms length. Will probably put more effort into the front of the buildings. I guess it all depends on the night. Hope to be consistent though. Haha... C&C welcome... Cheers, John...
  14. Haha... I guess I am not hard to find. I forgot to post the blog link so here you go. I hope to get some pics on the blog this weekend. They will be earlier pics of course. Cheers, John... http://totembadgers.blogspot.com/
  15. My boys and I are just getting a blog put together but it does not have this piece on there yet. Very little content on it really. I need to go back and rummage through all my old stuff and photo's and get them posted. Just not all at once I suppose haha. When I do post the pics I will for sure try and give a step by step as to what I did. Cheers, John...
  16. Not sure where to post this but this is a project I am working on. It is meant as a border piece on the edge of a board. It is a slow going process but I am learning a ton and it is fun. It will be nice to get it finished and throw some figs on it. I tried to have each Row House have a little different theme going on so it will work with more than one gaming system. I think this will work for Malifaux hopefully. Cheers, John...
  17. Carebear nightmare. Awesome! Nice touch on the splattered blood over the heart. Cheers, John...
  18. Sweet looking figs. The colors you chose are great they a fantastic pop to them. The freehand it a very nice touch man! Cheers, John...
  19. The figs are one of the things that appeal to me. They are sweet! Probably going with the Guild or Ten Thunders. Still trying to decide though. I just put my painting desk back together last night so I can sit down and paint again. Just need some Malifaux figs to paint. Cheers, John...
  20. Well I was going to get into the Malifaux several years ago and then life happened. At some point I could not bring myself to jump into another gaming system. Things change. We just had the Salt City Gladiator Games here this last weekend and the local reps here were amazing and treated my son very well. They did a demo for him and then go him in the tourney. My son said they displayed great sportsmanship and he is hooked. So if he is hooked then so am I. He really liked the gaming style so I will be picking up a box set this week. A little about myself... I love to make terrain and will start slapping some up here shortly. I also enjoy painting as well. I have been doing terrain on a more avid basis since about 2007. I have painted off and on for a while but only have tried to paint regularly the last little bit. I love the models and look forward to painting some up. Cheers, John...
  21. Well we just had the Salt City Gladiator Games here and the local Malifaux reps did an amazing job. They gave my son a demo and then got him in the tourney and hooked him. He said it was a blast and they displayed amazing sportsmanship. So now I am hooked too. Will be picking up a box set up this week and will work on getting them put together. I have been around a bit but couldn't bring myself to jump into one more gaming system. But if my children want to play it then I am in. So here goes nothing. Cheers, John...
  22. Thanks. I will look into that. What are the properties like? Is it tougher than plastic? How difficult is it to carve after you have cast it?
