  1. I have used the merlins magic and the clear plastic cup method does work very well when you are doing a large number of molds in one setting. It allows you to do fairly quick measuring that is consistent. You do not want to try and recycle the mixing cups, chunks of old plaster can screw up your batches, just toss the cups when you are done. From my experience the advice Hirst provides is good.
  2. I have run her a couple of times now and I have to say she is great. My list has been all the kin, 3 gremlins, and one slop hauler. This leaves me with 4 SS in a 30 stone game. I have not come across a list that would work against the low WP of the gremlins but I am sure it would turn ugly for my favorite kin.
  3. I guess they are not masters but I am much more interested in some of the new henchmen then the remaining masters. Of the two remaining, I would say Hoffman.
  4. Just to add to what has already been said, you do need the required corpse counters in order to summon anything.
  5. That is why I do not see it as being a problem. there is the same odds of the black joker popping up as the red, and the fact you cannot cheat negative damage flips is still a huge advantage for damage soaking an undead list. I also play Undead, and my main opponent is a Nico player. I am glad there is there is a chance for a critical damage that bypass the mind numbing slug fests that we usually have.
  6. I really do not understand the problem with the red joker trumping a negative flip for damage. If you do not have that trumping action then the value of that card drops dramatically. Sure it can do a boatload of damage, but it does not happen very often, I think I have seen it 3 times in about a dozen or more games, and the Black Joker has the same odds of coming into play. The most memorable moment for my red joker damage was when I was running Teeth. I was shooting at Nico and I triggered dumb luck. I was on a negative damage flip and rolled my cards over to see the red joker, I followed that flip with a severe damage. Neither master survived the attack.
  7. My thought was the Friekorps image was based around the fremen from dune or more importantly they look like they are in the stillsuites. The librarians ancient words kinda helped enforce that image in my head.
  8. I should have added that, I usually have the the flash for my camera pointed at the ceiling and let the light bounce back. Direct sunlight is also a good option, it is usually a much better source of light then anything artificial. You just have to watch where your shadow casts.
  9. 400 is a good setting for all purpose shots. Your images may come out a little darker so lighting will be important. As for lighting I would say that using more then one light source will be best, or if you only have one light source try using a flash. One of the things I use are desk lamps with the flexible necks. I also like to use fluorescent bulbs in them because the bulb color is a little cooler then typical house lights.
  10. The common mistake I usually see is the ISO is usually set too low. If the image comes out grainy increase the ISO and try again. The second most common mistake is lighting, images are either too hot or dark. I like to use a 3 light system, you need three different light sources and make sure they are all the same type of light. You just need to set on light source to the side, one from above, and one off to the other side a little but in front of the model. The last thing is shoot using a tripod, it is very hard to test different setting to find what you like without one.
  11. I thought claremore was next too blackwell, my map foo skills failed.
  12. There is a ok gaming store in Wichita, and there are a few of us that play Malifaux. I will have my stuff with me tomorrow and I should be up for gaming most of the day.
  13. Post a picture so we can get and idea and walk you through the problem.
  14. If the dreamer box set has the stitched together models in it I will most likely get whiplash in my finger as I click the purchase button. Other then that I have to say I will pick all of the new undead stuff, because I have too. I may have to pick up some of the new guild stuff if the models are as cool as I hope they are. As a kinda side note I did get a new game in this last weekend with the new gremlins and I used my hog whisperer as a slop hauler. That little slop hauler was a big MVP of the game and I would really like to see that model come out asap.
  15. We usually play around 30ss, in larger games I found that we will max out the SS cache. Smaller games tend to have dramatic power shifts as one good turn of cards can really have a huge impact.
  16. For me I love the fluff and the models the best. There are a few models that I find to be duds but that is more to personal taste. The models usually go together well and a majority of the models only need a little bit of file work, pinning, and glue. If you have played other skirmish games in the past then you should find the rules easy to learn. If you just play kill missions you may find this game lacking, Malifaux seems much more enjoyable if you use the strategies and schemes and it is highly suggested that you use them. Ok here is the fiddle bits of the game, they stem more from personal opinion and is not a big enough deal that it should stop anyone from playing. My biggest thing is Twisting fate, it is a good mechanic that simulates skills and abilities beyond just being number crunchy. My only gripe with it is it seems to be over done at times. My biggest example is against undead you will almost always be at a negative flip for the damage. If you have two undeaders going at it you will really notice this twisting fate isssue. Again not a big deal just something that feels overdone. My second is not a real problem but a concern, there is getting to be a ton of information on each card.
  17. where did they have them on display? not that it matters at this point.
  18. I have to confess, I was wrong about the ss cost of the undead chimera, it is actually 10. For some reason I was convinced that it was 13.
  19. I have to agree with icemantis. I have done design work for free before in the past, but that was for charity groups and I was able to use my time as a tax write off. your best option is to take your project to a local university and hope that you can find someone to help you there. about the only thing I would be willing to do for free atm is critique any design work that you have. If you want me to fix or design something I would be willing to go as low as $35 per hour.
  20. While it can be done I think you will hurt yourself in the long run. McM works so much better if he has a few body parts for himself to gain fast when needed and cast rancid transplant or get some healing flips in. I have also found that it is not very efficient to convert his ss cache to body parts.
  21. I am fairly certain that the Rogue Necromancy is 13 ss cost. McMourning can also build it with monster creation spell for a 8 body part cost, Or Nico can summon it with 3 corpses. Just like Molly it cannot be effected by things that specifically targets undead.
  22. Congrats Fade, I kinda wish I knew that there was going to be other raffle drawing going to happen. I was upstairs waiting for the speed painting contest to begin.
