  1. These are great! You can never have too many Piglets or Bayou Gremlins, so this thread's just gonna keep growing. The older skin is nice, maybe a touch more of the grey and elf flesh. The banjo on the sitting spyglass gremlin is perfect! Why didn't I think of that before? I'm totally going to "borrow" that one, sir.
  2. Yeah, they'd be a nice pairing. The anti-undead boosts that the LJ crew has won't be much use, but in a head to head, they're still going to have a fun game. No Sonnia love? Witchling Stalkers are one of the premier 4 SS models in the game. Sonnia's a Swiss Army knife master, too. Definitely a nice all around crew. I definitely recommend (in no particular order) Seamus any Guild starter Nicodem Lilith Ramos Viktorias Ramos really needs a few extra swarms or single spiders to take advantage of what he can do, so he might not be what you want for one of your first two crews. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the boxes. Picking a box just for the models you like the most won't leave you out in the cold. You're also not necessarily looking to entirely max out on models to get you to the 30 SS game size. Leaving stones unspent means there are more for your Master to use.
  3. A circus leads to Penguins. Penguins are forbidden. Freakshows and Carnival Barkers are never a bad idea, though.
  4. Yes, all models in that starter crew have the Mercenary characteristic.
  5. in regards to the flesh, I'm seeing darker recesses, but not really much in the way of brighter highlights. It could just be the pictures though. There is definitely quite a bit of contrast between the main skin and the recesses. Perhaps a glaze with a mid tone and then pick out highlights again where they need to be brought up a bit after that would work well for you. Love the rest of the model.
  6. Mine has painted teeth. They're still visible enough to paint with the dynamite there.
  7. I never said I had any problem with the current selection of models with the Gremlin characteristic. I was fishing to see if Eric would let some info leak out.
  8. Taelor. Can't go wrong with a 3 hammer that puts out a 3/4/6 spread. Nino and the Convict for ranged and card control. Add a pair of Witchlings for more melee, ranged, anti-magic, and an explosive insurance policy. 35 stones on the nose (with Viktoria's For the Money rule). Smallest Brawl possible. For a 45 stone Brawl, throw in the Austringer.
  9. Sonnia and Rasuptina have stayed on top since beta testing. They're not over powered, they're not one trick ponies, and they can put out massive damage while still supporting their crews. People hate on Sonnia because they're looking for the easy button. You see that they love Samael for Flaming Bullets, but ignore his shorter ranged spells that are more crippling in the big picture. Sonnia requires depth. Don't charge someone assuming you'll get the kill with the sword. Charge them when they've already activated, and use Inferno to add insult to injury. Playing Claim Jump with a choke point to enter the terrain? Flame Walls are a great way to help keep your VP's at 4 instead of 2. Got a model with 1 Wd left, Violation of Magic will get you a brand new Witchling Stalker instead. If it's a Witchling with only 1 Wd, you get Immolating Demise on top of that! Sonnia's sword is great. Hit someone with an important spell, and you're not going to have to worry about that spell next turn. You're going to heal, get a control card, and force discards as well. The Ortegas are flashy. They shoot, and they're fast. Justice can slice and dice on her own. They're good, but they can't change gears very easily if things aren't going their way. I played with my Ortegas again for the first time in months at a tournament two weeks ago. I played a Sonnia-led crew in Rnd 1, and Rnd 2's Ortega crew just felt weak and restrictive in comparison. Here's the list I used at 30 stones: Sonnia Purifying Flame Witchling Stalkers x2 Death Marshal Nino Ortega Convict Gunslinger 7 stones, plenty of ranged attacks, solid melee, card control, magic, and anti-magic. What's not to like?
  10. Nathan, you know you're the best! The small, unmarked bills are in the mail.
  11. Sarr, are you taking those photos with a flash? Two diffused lights and no flash will get you nicer results. The Death Marshals are losing some of the depth that you can see in person. They still look good in the pics, but I know that they look better on the table. I'll give you some more info when I see you on Saturday.
  12. Love it! I'l love to see that on the other side of the table. Maybe at Gen Con.
  13. Fate's extremes are powerful indeed. They will trump all others, and the awesome Voodoo Doll art ultimately trumps even the Red Joker. Such are the whims of fate.
  14. no, it's usually "Blame Kel." Vasyl! Where's my Vasyl?!?!?! C'mon Nathan! When are we going to see a new sculpt for him? Even if he ends up in Twisted. (I'd be interested in picking one up if you find one in some dusty corner of the Wyrd secret underground lair.)
  15. 3x5 photo holders. 4 to a page. just like the 9 to a page sheets for WM cards, only for large things. they're a touch large, but I've been using these since Gen Con.
  16. What about new Gremlins, period?

    Bishop = Amazing

You did not want to see him when this was not a (0). Trust me. Viktorias, Bishop, and Taelor was all you'd need to bust just about anyone. The (0) is vital to balance.
  18. wait, sorry, lack of sleep is screwing me all up. Lalo is correct on both.
  19. I'll agree with NE, here. You've made development teams for all games proud of that post. WS has a point. I believe I saw him in the booth at Gen Con when I was there. Or maybe I'm losing it, since there are no such things as ghosts.
  20. Unmodified Damage Flip is exactly that. flip the card, take the result. no cheat. 1 card, 1 result. if you flip a red joker, kiss your Gremlin goodbye. as for Sooey, before it was "push up to Cg." that just means maximum push was Cg, but could be less. Now the models must Charge, and that means they don't stop until they hit their Cg, or they're in melee with the target.
  21. If you have a PDF viewer in your phone, keeping them there is a great idea. Eric always makes sure that the PDF's are searchable. that's where I keep mine.
  22. sorry, threads have a habit of going from their original form, to somewhere else, and then somewhere along the way they come back to the original topic. Now, getting back to Sonnia, you've got to admit that Flame Wall is great for blocking choke points.
  23. yeah. unkillable =/= auto-win. I've got a soulstone level I keep in mind when I'm hiring crews for different masters, but that's always a flexible number. If it's 5 stones vs 7, but I can get a more useful model instead of a model that won't do the job as well, I'd rather have fewer stones and better models.
  24. cork rock, with a side that "conveniently" fits right along the angle of the tail. And, wouldn't you know it, there's even a perfectly shaped spot that the tab fits into on top. This is a model that repays for you for giving your bases as much attention as you give them models themselves.
