Just Jest 28 Posted November 11, 2022 Report Share would love to know what this look like too, once with the black-light off 1 Quote Link to comment

Silver_lining_minipainting 135 Posted November 13, 2022 Report Share Cool effect, but I’d rather see a view on the paintjob in normal lighting as well. 1 Quote Link to comment
SpannerRider 31 Posted November 14, 2022 Report Share Is this actually shot under black light, or is it just painted to look that way? Because painted to look that way is Really impressive. The water effect on the base is stunning and really makes me think this is all paint and not lighting, a novel rave version of this model. Well done! 1 Quote Link to comment
Michael Crawford 4 Posted November 15, 2022 Report Share I think with this being Halloween time, I am picturing someone throwing up candy vs what the model actually is. I love the twist on it though. 1 Quote Link to comment

It's a combination black light and OSL - I used Fluor paints on the bamboo "glow sticks" and colored drops, then non-fluorescent paints on the lily pads/leg/dress/umbrella, water crests, etc. When lighting, I pointed a neutral ring light directly at it from the front, and held a black light flashlight strategically behind the ring light so I could block some of it while trying to only illuminate the parts with Fluor paint on them. There was a little blue light spillage on the her body, which always shows up more in a picture than it does to the eye for some reason. It was definitely a tricky one to photograph and I tried not to just wash it all out in blue as best as I could, cause I didn't want to lose the OSL. Anyway thanks for all the comments, here's a picture under a normal light. Doesn't look quite as good to me, but that's because I painted it specifically to be viewed under black light. 2 Quote Link to comment
SpannerRider 31 Posted November 17, 2022 Report Share Thanks dzlier for the explanation. I'm not sure if you're not allowed to post another shot of the model (though I think voting is over so that shouldn't be a problem?) or if the link is just broken. Quote Link to comment

Oh, that's weird that the image doesn't show, it does for me. In any case I waited until voting was over before posting this. Edited the original, should be visible now. 1 Quote Link to comment
SpannerRider 31 Posted November 17, 2022 Report Share It shows now, thanks. The colors are quite vibrant and that water effect is spot on even without the black light, the color of it. 1 Quote Link to comment
