dzlier 898 Posted November 8, 2022 Report Share There are a few models whose poses alone sell the "celebration" theme. Molly 2 is one of them. Great lighting too Quote Link to comment

I can almost hear Ian Travis' interpretation of an overenthusiastic Molly trying (and probably failing) to convince that zombie nephilim how much fun it's going to be😅 Quote Link to comment
dzlier 898 Posted November 9, 2022 Report Share I also love that the models' bases are incorporated into the ground, presumably so they can pop out to use, rotate, etc, but still fit into the diorama. Very cool. Quote Link to comment
Just Jest 29 Posted November 11, 2022 Report Share but what is it that's watching them from underneath?!? i must know Quote Link to comment
MisterWerks 48 Posted November 13, 2022 Report Share Phenomenal! Certainly one of the weirdest bases I've ever seen, but you've got two Undead (check!), a jack o' lantern by a creepy lamppost (check), incredible painting (check) - looks like a winner! Quote Link to comment
Devilsthumb 2 Posted November 13, 2022 Report Share The eyes at the grounds giving me scary vibes. Such a cool idea! Quote Link to comment
SpannerRider 38 Posted November 14, 2022 Report Share I have a total soft spot for dioramas that allow the models to be removed for play still, and they are often technically much harder to pull off while still looking good. You have absolutely managed this, everything about this scene is beautifully painted and sculpted and of course it really Will be amazing good fun for all! Quote Link to comment
Michael Crawford 4 Posted November 15, 2022 Report Share As I love nekima I forgot Molly could how this guy. I really like the lighting you did. Very strong shadows and great subtle highlights. I do wonder what would happen if you pushed everything a tone brighter so I could see the darker areas better. Quote Link to comment
Hawkoon 779 Posted November 22, 2022 Report Share Thank you all for the encouraging comments. This is my first dioarama ever, so I felt a bit in over my head (soooo much modelling😱), but I think it turned out fairly in the end. I generally paint for gaming, and use these contests as motivation to "get things done", and that's why i decided to slot in the minis. But I still had to consider lighting and OSL from the streetlamp. I wanted the contrast between the lamp and surroundings to set the atmosphere, but I get the point @Michael Crawford pointed out about it being a bit dark (the highlights are there, I swear!). I will try to take some new photos and will put them up on my instagram account soon. (then maybe the text "Malifaux" on the signpost will be visible as well 😆) I'm actually quite surprised no one else painted up Molly 2 for this. She litterally ooozes undead celebration. Even though I am neverborn to the core, I enjoyed painting her up for this contest. The emotional contrast between an overly enthusiastic Molly and the rather apathetic zombie nephilim was something I really wanted to play on. Quote Link to comment
Seb Ast 0 Posted March 13, 2023 Report Share This one gives me the creeps. Very well done! Quote Link to comment
