  1. My collection is almost entirely the old metal miniatures, so I haven't had the pleasure of putting together the more troublesome M2E plastic miniatures; only the Guild Pathfinder, Iron Zombies and Lazarus. I ditched Lazarus for a conversion, but that was not because he was hard to put together, but because the sculpt was so awful I also skipped the annoying metal minis, so my experiences with Wyrds miniatures areis almost completely positive. Privateer Press on the other hand *shudder* Cryx crab-'jacks and the like, The Harbinger and most of the Legion of Everblight models were terrible. All the blisters and cuts I got from pinning and preparing all those models can't be counted on my remaining fingers...
  2. I'm actually going through the same process as you, at the moment. Guilty are a bit hard, but I've found some undead "civilians" with rusty weapons from Freebooter Miniatures that might work: http://www.kinggames.dk/images/miniatures/sansames_freebooter_01.jpg As for Lady Ligeia, I'm using The Mourner from Helldorado that you've posted. Montresor is a bigger issue for me, since I have a pretty specific picture in my head, but I can't find any miniatures that hit the spot. Charon from Helldorado (http://elementgames.co.uk/images/products/6509/6408-charon-box-set-med.jpg), with a long rope and noose from his staff might work out, but I'm actually looking more for a human hangman type. I'm trying to figure out if I can convert this guy, http://elementgames.co.uk/images/products/6511/6404-russian-trapper-med.jpg , to hold a rope with a noose instead of an ax, and model a tattered executioners mask on him as well. My fallback plan is to use the Slender Man from Kingdom Death: http://shop.kingdomdeath.com/products/slender-man . He's huge! And I love the model, and the clothes and tentacles, is almost, but not quite, entirely unlike, what I'm looking for as Montresor... But not very Jack Daw-ish... I'll follow this thread with great interest!
  3. I've put a single Malifaux Rat on a 40mm base, surrounded by a lot of small rats from Freebooters 21 Rats pack And painted the big Rat King as an albino rat, just to make them stand out.
  4. I bought a few of the German Soldier zombies, and they're very good, especially when considering the price! Delivery was pretty fast, and the cost was fair (for P&P to Europe, at least). Recommended, if one needs some modern (or nazi) zombies!
  5. No, but Hamelins summon does (0) Lure Malifaux Citizen: (Ca 6C / TN: 14): Summon one The Stolen into base contact with this model and then sacrifice all friendly non-The Stolen Totems.
  6. I made a bunch, 13 total, out of old bits on 30mm bases. Pretty easy, and it looks good when the guys drop sticks of dynamite, or a stack of loot, instead of just blank bases
  7. You're probably right, but I already have three upgrades on Hamelin. I want to use Crooligans, so I have to take Sewer King, and both Obey and the added triggers on the Pipes from The Piper and The Plague, respectively, seem too good to pass up. I suppose that The Plague could be switched out for Tools of the Tyrant, if I wanted to play Hamelin more aggressively? I was thinking about removing two rats for a canine remains, but those probably work better in pairs. I could add another Crooligan for two rats, which might be pretty useful in getting those scheme markers out there faster.
  8. I actually haven't played the new Hamelin at all, but I'm really stoked about finally being able to put him and his crew on the table! My initial list is something like yours, although I don't want to bring Killjoy, so I've taken some Crooligans to run schemes initially, while I get the blight engine up and running. Soo, like this: Open Spoiler Outcasts Crew - 50 - Scrap Hamelin -- 5 Pool +Sewer King [1] +The Piper [2] +The Plague [2] The Stolen [2] Crooligan [4] Crooligan [4] Malifaux Rat [2] Malifaux Rat [2] Malifaux Rat [2] Malifaux Rat [2] Malifaux Rat [2] Nix [8] +Hollow [2] +Infectious Melodies [1] Obedient Wretch [4] Rat Catcher [6] I think it'll work out pretty well, but that's just my gut-feeling; I have no practical experiences with Hamelin at all
  9. It sure was... I might not have played that many games of M2E, but it really doesn't seem that bleak to me
  10. I can't really "see" Montressor in my minds eye, so I don't really know which way I would like to go with him. Since his namesake in the Poe story is plagued by his guilt (or by rights should be) of burying his friend alive, I have this idea of him as a well-dressed man, but his clothes are in tatters and he may or may not be chained up somehow (Not unlike the illustration for the source material on wikipedia (Link to image)). But that doesn't entirely convey the atmosphere of the original story to me, nor the character in Malifaux, but it might work. I personally like my models to be more subtle than a lot of Wyrds newer models, so I'm at a bit of a loss as how to get the above aesthetic right, since I'm not all that convinced that the Wyrd sculpt will work for me (based on previoue plastic releases).
  11. I am going to use the Mourner from Hell Dorado. That should be sufficiently creepy
  12. Very convincing, Kadeton! I suddenly had an image of Papa Loco being somewhat like Henry Bowers in IT, where he sees Jack through the bars on the asylum window, and breaks out to satisfy his madness, fear and torment! Sold
  13. Hodgepodge will work, if I can find the old model somewhere. I have a soft spot for the effigies, so those are one of the few exemptions to my self-imposed aesthetical rules I agree that Jack has one of the more interesting themes/fluff in Malifaux, which is why I was so delighted that he was made a Master in M2E!
  14. It seems like I'm pretty well off if I get a blister of Hanged, Drowned and Crooked Men, and then wait for Jacks crew box (sometime in the far future). Nurses and Papa Loco don't really catch my fancy, as I can't see why they'd be associated with Jack Daw, but that's because of my crazy theme-hangup Thanks, guys!
  15. Hi folks! Since the beta forums are closed, and all the delicious discussions on Jack Daw are no longer (readily) available, I thought I would ask here. I really like the new (beta) rules for Jack, and I really want to run him and his themed crew. I do appreciate that the spirit of the game may be to run all models available to a crew in order to play Malifaux "right", but I really only like to play a crew with the models that fit into the theme of a crew (be it visually or storywise). This, coupled with the fact that I really like the old metal models more than, most of, the new plastic ones, means that if I want to run Jack, I have to get the old models fast, before they are phased out. So, the question/query/conundrum is what did people usually run with Jack during the beta? I know that Montressor, the Guilty and Lady Ligea will have to be plastic, which I can accept, but what about the Wave 1 models that Jack can use? I remember seeing battle reports where tormented crews used both The Drowned, The Hanged and Crooked Men. Can anyone that ran Jack during the beta, or just have experiences with the above models, give me some pointers as to what would be a good fit with a Jack Daw crew, knowing that his rules, and the rules for his Wave 2 themed models, are not set in stone until a week from now. Thank you!
