I like the idea, but if people are concerned about it being restrictive then why not just have a "henchman round" where your crew can only be led by henchmen? I've not played any henchman led games, but the more I think about it, the less it concerns me. I'm not sure that they look as well balanced as the usual Masters (some seem to have better crew synergy than others), but they certainly look good enough for a few games and might inspire some more unusual crew builds.
