Can you target yourself with a ranged attack?

I had sonnia criid target herself with her her blast spell( sorry doing this off memory from work without books handy) so that she could pump a severe damage out with MR she didn't take much but my crew was levelled. I know you can target friendly models, but

1) can she target herself intentionally with a damaging spell?

2) can you use a ranged attack on yourself? Wouldn't it have to be a Melee? Is thereafter minimum range?

Fairly certain you can't target yourself with any attack unless stated otherwise.

A model can not attack itself.

That rule is in both 1.5 and 2.
