Run Through - Pushes?

sarge

Question

Hello fellow players,

Just a little question that popped up over this weekends session.

The situation is a Ronin wants to use 'run through' which causes a 'push move'

with a strike on the way through. Could my Ronin move past a model which was

blocking her direct movement with a push and end the push in melee range of another model ready for a melee expert strike?

The real issue is does a model in the way block a push action if thats the only way to go?

thanks in advance

Also, to chip in: you ignore disengaging strikes when pushing, so if that's what you meant by "block" then no the opposing model can't block you getting around it.

To sum up

When pushing you can:

  • Ignore Disengaging Strikes
  • Don't ignore Movement Penalties, unless pushing to within something.
  • Push the full distance, doesn't need to be a straight line
  • Cannot go through another model's base, unless you are a spirit or have the flight or float ability.

Thanks for yor answers. The way we played it out was correct :)

The model I was trying to get the Ronin past was physically blocking the gap she wanted to move through.

I suspect she could have moved into melee range made a strike and then continued the push movement around and past this model (due to no disengaging strikes) and into combat with another using melee expert action if move distances allow.

This has made me think of another question.....when making your attack with 'run through' do you still get the positive flip for damage that is given for charging?

Thats not quite right. You don't ignore movement penalties. if you push 4" through severe terrain you only go 2". (Ronin are mobile so they ignore it anyway).

The run through attack is not a charge, so does not have a + flip to damage for charging. It does have the swords natural + still though.

In your example, if the ronin could physically fit around the model in the gap it could probaly have reached the other model. You can interupt the push to make the attack, and trigger next target off that attack which will push 4" before you continue with your original push
