SpiralngCadavr
Had a lot of fun with these constructs. Also, a WIP for Mei Feng. (Notes)
Viruk
The constructs look great and so will Mei once you've finished her.
zFiend
Really great cards! Those are really well done. Also I really dig your style with the constructs. Especially the Soulstone Miner, that is one good looking model. Mei Feng will look amazing I bet, the base is insane.
cdhay
That strongarm is brilliant
SpiralngCadavr
Thanks, all!On the Strongarm, yeah, it didn't win anything when I did it, but I've gotten a lot of nice responses after the competition. On the cards, I don't have a ton of training on design work, but I've done a bit for various projects and thought I'd stretch myself a bit on duplicating the styles for something fun, glad they've been well received On Mei Feng, yeah, I'm exited to do a crazy base, as I think those have been some of my best work. zFiend
With Mei Feng I have always thought that her, whatever that is, is a bit too weird looking. I have not been a fan of her base. But the fact that you added to it, making it more "in yo' face" really works wonders.
SpiralngCadavr
Thanks, realized after the fact that the hair suggests she's jumping up through the splintery stuff(?). Either way, yeah, I feel like giving a bit more context makes way more sense than just some random wood bits.Started painting her already, and she's shaping up as pretty solid. zFiend
a bit more context makes way more sense than just some random wood bits. That's exactly it!
SpiralngCadavr
Shifting gears a bit, the first of the Ortegas (with notes)
Yngair
Awesome stuff, looking forward to seeing these properly, currently on phone with tiny screen. Excellent lighting and genuinely inspiring.
zFiend
Really cool color scheme. Francisco is great. Also I like the fact that you make small modifications to these and usually they are the exact same ones I have a problem with, like Mei Fengs base and now Nino's gun.
Viruk
Great work, that conversion with Nino's gun is awesome!
(Sarcasm)
Love the Mei Feng crew! Is that Sauron's little brother eye see in between the metal gamin?
SpiralngCadavr
Thanks, everyone! On the little modifications, it started with Warmachine, where I often liked the details but hated the poses, and this is a bit of a continuation where I've wanted to fine-tune minis that just don't quite fit my vision of them. I also find I really enjoy the challenge of limiting myself to one mini line/faith to the original design (compared to GW where whacky design is half the fun, but also way less demanding). SpiralngCadavr
So, due to the rather substantial upgrade, I've finished re-painting Karina and heavily updated my tactics article. (Notes, as usual)
SpiralngCadavr
Mei Feng in a big crazy pose, with a barely practical base. (Notes)
Viruk
Mei's base is mind-blowing! Love the paintjob too
zFiend
Mei Feng is amazing! Really well done! Best Mei I have seen.
SpiralngCadavr
Thanks, both of you! She really just started out as something giving a little context, but then that thing got out of control. It was actually big enough that I originally magnetized her base so it would sit in a 50mm "cradle" of more of the same to work as her avatar, but my head just about exploded the second or third time I tried to pick her up and the magnets lost their grip (causing mei and her base to fall into a few different pieces each time), so now the scene is firmly glued... SpiralngCadavr
Some more additions to Ressers, painted mostly for my Tara crew (with a little update to the tactics article again). Notes, as usual.
SpiralngCadavr
So, another Kingdom Death proxy until that game finally comes out, she'll be standing in for the Lone Swordsman (until Wyrd's Mifune model comes out) or maybe Lilith, since I've never particularly liked her sculpts. (Notes, as is tradition)
zFiend
It's always good to see this pop up. I really like the White dressed Zombie. Really nice. Also that proxy is spot on for both I think. I like it a lot. Keep on posting mate!
SpiralngCadavr
Hehe, yeah, he's definitely my favorite, too. Wish Wyrd had given more character to its new Mindless Zombies, though I understand why they didn't. Also, thanks on the proxy, I had a difficult time photographing her (the cape still has a lot of glare I couldn't kill), but she fits in with the rest of the line well enough, I think. (Also, she's one of the only cheap models I've worked with that's nice enough to practice smooth textures on.)
