Like most of you have I have a LONG time miniatures games player....for the last 15 years or there about....my main games have always been the GW lines....and the specialist games as well....in many ways there are my favorites! My son is now 9 and shows a keen interest in the hobby and the specialist games are perfect for he and I....admittedly I am a GW fanboy....but lately I have really enjoyed the skirmish level games....specifically WarmaHordes! LOVE IT! It is very difficult for the missus and I to drop $500 on a 40K/WHFB for my son.....but $50 or $40 on a starter box is not an issue! My local Malifaux scene is really starting to thrive....I have had the rule books for quite a while now...but never got around to really doing anything with them....so now is the time to enter The Breach! I have the Perdita Ortega box set, along with Abuela and an Enslave Nephilim...what else should I add? I like the idea of the "Old West" style of play and would like to keep with that if possible....I am really a fluffy player that enjoys the story as much, if not more, than winning at all costs! naz9 Posted November 18, 2012 Report Share Posted November 18, 2012 Perdita really is awesome. Think Death Marshals, Pistoleros, Executioner and prolly the Pale Rider for that fluff\cinematic feel. You can add more as you find your way through Malifaux..the great part of this game is there's really no 'wrong' model...regardless of what some people will try to sway you with...play what you like and enjoy what you play! FoeRender Posted November 18, 2012 Report Share Posted November 18, 2012 Death marshals fit the theme well and are good cheep models that work well , also pale rider is a good piece for your theme and is an all around good model game wise . Guild Monkee Posted November 19, 2012 Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 The good thing about Guild is everything interacts in the fluff so you can mix and match quite a lot and it doesn't look out of place. For an uber fluffy list I'd add Latigo Pistoleros and avatar Perdita (it's an awesome model!). To stray slightly further afield I'd add the Executioner, some witchlings (4SS of pure win) and a witchling handler. That would lead nicely into expanding with Sonnia. You can't go wrong with getting these for your Perdita crew: 2 blisters of Guild Hounds to run 3 hounds. 1 blister of Witchling Stalkers (or Save yourself the time and get Sonnia Criids Crew box) 1 blister of Death Marshalls (or Save yourself the time and get Lady Justice Crew box) 1 blister of Watcher (or Save yourself the time and get C. Hoffman Crew box) 1 blister of Austringer. 1 blister of Guardian. (or Did you save yourself the time and get C. Hoffmans Crew box, cause this is in it too!) Like I said, this is just my thoughts and really can't go wrong with these additions. Jonas is right about them, they aren't really worth it. I'm also not a big fan of having a Convict Gunslinger in my Guild crews....they have so many good guns already, they don't need him....but that's just personal opinion...he is pretty good. Pagan Wolfe Posted November 20, 2012 Report Share Posted November 20, 2012 People poo-poo the pistoleros...but I take two on a regular basis in 35 ss games and they work really well. Their ability to add def or gain extra cb around the ortagas makes them pretty effective and they add some cheap guns and knives to the team for softening up or finishing off targets. That and red shirt. I run an executioner done up as nacho libere...shot gun wedding from ambula and it is all fun and themed! They also play well and win games.
