  1. All art in gaming evolves. All models change over time as new tech and new ideas advance. Gamers don't like change even if that means changing the complaining about stuff they want to change. It's a wait and see world. No two people look at art of any type in the same way. You'll find stuff to like/dislike if you try hard enough. Just my .02
  2. Will there be duplicates in the Faction card decks? I have 4 Guild hounds for example and will I have to purchase additional cards? Curious..
  3. It's subjective. A 'bad' model depends on who you play, what they play, the results, your skill level, their skill, and prolly a dozen other factors...it seems if you are winning the majority of your games by wide margins, it has little to do with handicaping yourself. Because at bigger events and tourments your not going to be handicapping yourself obviously. It seems you have figured out the ways to deal with your current play group ( I could be wrong) and need some new blood. Have you considered teaching and training your play group? Share that info that makes you successful? I know it's hard to find new players, but taking a subjectively 'poor' model and playing against your group seems to say, " I'm so good I'm taking garbage against you to make it a fair or better game for me." I'm of the opinion that you play a wargame with your opponent, not against him. You seem very knowledgable 'bout Malifaux and I'm sure could be a helpful mentor to make better players all over. What tourneys do you attend btw?
  4. Mayhap is time for you to expand your gaming group and seek out new challenges. People do get used to their local meta gamers and sometimes a 'alpha' player tends to dominate a group of people he\she plays often. Maybe you are really good but I expect there are others out there who will give you all you can handle regardless of crew being played. If you need tougher games, you may have to travel or recruit more players. Just my .02.
  5. It's possible you're being too aggresive with him. He needs his Belles and other models to move the enemy around to 'deal' with them. He's the center spider in the web you build. You prolly shouldn't use his terror ability without some enemy debuffs. Crooligins within 3" -1 WP, the Carrion Effigy removes Immunities, his cheated .50 will blow 65% of models away. Live for pain is great and remember, use other models to kill too. Bete Noir is the real deal and any model killed within 6" of the hatter will heal him and he can draw a card...lots of ways to use him without just charging across the board. His CB is 5..not terribly high so pick your spots. Try to use his minions to weaken the foe, then finish them off with Seamus. Body Guard is a great scheme to take as well as breakthru as they both use a Seamus crew well and play to his strengths. If you can lower the enemy WP, your terror skills will work. Molly is a superb add on to Seamus and will do lots of set up for him. Try playing less power forward and think more mercurial, methodical slasher.
  6. Perdita really is awesome. Think Death Marshals, Pistoleros, Executioner and prolly the Pale Rider for that fluff\cinematic feel. You can add more as you find your way through Malifaux..the great part of this game is there's really no 'wrong' model...regardless of what some people will try to sway you with...play what you like and enjoy what you play!
  7. Can't you take a Carrion Effigy and remove all those Immune abilities anyway? Seems like a nice combo rather than just blasting away with his gun..albiet a good one. He's Jack the Ripper TopHat killer fluff wise..not Rambo, right?
  8. I believe that system was called 'Necromunda' a few years back...I'd like Malifaux to stay officially free from those kind of campaign systems. Dead Heat was well done and fun and didn't rely on 'crew stats' that needed to be tracked over time...You tend to run into players whose crews have had all sorts of enhancements that have no real way of being verified. Remember, not every master is even in ability imo, but factions are well balanced. Malifaux is a great system. Let fans make their own campaigns as they will, but I'm not for a campaign system unless it's a Dead Heat type event. Just my .02
  9. You could try dropping the Brutal Effigy and take a Govenors Proxy..2ss and a +2 WP bump to all Guild models in LOS...plus a Cast of 5 Rams...surprise some people when Perdita's WP goes up to 9....Perdita comes with only a 2ss cache I believe so with Govenors Prox she could have 4 ss...little more reliable for healing flips, cast boosts, damage, etc.
  10. Buffalo Soldiers. Some with horses and some on foot with US cavalry type abilities and spells. A definate african american feel without having to go to 'Africa'..avoid the cliche' ..these to be used with a "Reformer" type character(s) that seek to crack down on their version of lawlessness and grift in Malifaux...not another version on Guild Guard, but a self styled higher purpose.

  12. HELLO All, Steven here. Former 20 year GW plaything. Discovered Malifaux through encouragement of excellent Henchman justright, who saw I was looking or more than what I was getting out of my current hobby. I loved the look ofthe models and while I love painting, I am a wargamer and enjoy the whole interaction of Malifaux from cards to schemes. I started out a few months ago and felt I was behind the curve, that I had to shake the 'roll the dice well' mentality I had built up over 20 years! Started with the Viktorias (great models!) but ound that the Guild and Perdita fit my style and Malifaux fluff requirements. I have a nice selection of models and am enjoying the Malifaux hobby hugely! I enjoy movies, reading, painting, and my understanding and supportive girlfriend. I look forward to helping others find the same satisfaction I have in Malifaux! Thanks for listening!
  13. I have also found that if you build a fair sized scenic base, you pick up and move the model by that. That way your hand acids don't touch your protected models much anyway. Testors dull coat works well too.
  14. Welcome to Malifaux.. It tweaks your Nugget! You have to get your brain around that the game itself is a great way to unlearn traditional ways of wargaming...you'll learn to use, like, and expect that everything and anything can happen.
  15. You are very talented! Excellent work..very different color work. Thanks for posting.
