Jonasty
Hey all, I've started painting my McMourning crew and I'm looking to recreate the dried splattered blood effect paint job that they have in their box photos. I'm not sure of the best way to go about this though. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. Just to be clear on things, compared to most of the paint jobs and techniques I see here on the forums, I'd personally consider myself to be a VERY novice painter. So the simpler the solution the better. Thanks
Triblayne
I haven't done this myself, but I've heard of people blowing excess paint off of their brush onto the model to get that spatter look.
Firah
One of the big things to get right with blood is the colour, whilst fresh blood is bright red it doesn't stay that colour for long and ofter a red-brown will look better (especialy if you are going for stains on clothes)
Seregon
Tamiya Clear Red with a bit of black ink/wash mixed into it is perfect for slightly coagulated blood. For fresh splatter, just use Tamiya Clear Red as is.
Omenbringer
One of the old Wyrd Chronicles e-zines has a really good tutorial for creating blood splatters. Aside from those tips I would highly recommend picking up some Tamiya Clear Red. The stuff is amazing for creating fresh blood effects. 96p
Tamiya Clear red with a little GW Devlan Mud produces very easy and very effective Blood Effects. (For examples look at my Leveticus Crew in the signature).
Jonasty
Thanks for all the suggestions and help. I look forward to testing these out and if I ever get around to snapping photos, I'll throw them up on the boards.
thebarbalag
Just finished my McMorning box (plus Miss Pack) yesterday. For blood spatter, I use a tiny bit of Bloodstone and Skorne Red, plus a small drop of Red Ink, and a lot of Brown Ink, plus a looooot of water (all paints P3). Get a lot of this super-wet mixture on your brush, deep breath, and blow in short, strong burst over the area where you want the splatter. Adjust amount of paint for desired amount of splatter. Omenbringer
Wyrd Chronicles # 2 has the toot for blood splatters (it is in the Killjoy walk thru near the end).
