Hamelin and his Totem

WHen Hamelin dies the first time does his totem get sacrificed or does he keep it if he can come back at the end of the turn? I personally think it dies with him and then he comes back without it, but just wanted to check I've not got it wrong.

RM page 10: "A totem is sacrificed immediately if the Master or Henchman it is connected to is removed from the game"

As far as I know, dying counts as being removed from the game, so I'd argue his totem disappears.

That's exactly my thoughts, but some people seem to think Hamelin dying and waiting to return is outside the scope of the rules so his totem would hang around for him.

For me, people arguing for things "outside the scope of the rules" is equivalent to arguing for things "not in the rules".

As written, I'd agree that the totem sacrifices.

I agree, there is nothing but hoping and wishing to indicate that the totem would not be gone as per normal. To work that way the cards would either have to specify that the totem returns/stays or that he buries instead of dying, or some such.

Compare to Leveticus/Hollow Waifs mechanic, Dreamer/LCB/Daydreams, and Marcus/Jackalope/aMarcus for model interactions that address and/or dodge same or similar issues in different ways.
