Noob questions on forest terrain, esp. illusionary ones!

Although I'm asking in relation to Lilith's spell, the questions all relate to forest and other terrain types. I will use "Ann" and "Bob, 2 fictional minions that have no tricks allowing them to ignore LoS, bend bullets etc. The forest is a 3" circle, to make the rules questions pertinent to the 3" limit on shooting through cover.

1 Ranged shooting

How do Ann's attacks get affected by forest in the following examples? Does she have LoS(ie can she fire)? If so, is it obscured(:-fateto hit)?

1.1 Ann is 6" from forest, Bob is fully inside.

1.2 Ann is 6" from forest, Bob is MOSTLY inside, but Ann has an unobstructed view of a little bit of Bob's base

1.3 Ann is 6" from forest, Bob is mostly on the FAR side, with his toe in the forest; Ann can't see him directly.

(I'm guessing that all of these are allowed, but obscured, due to <3" through terrain)

1.4 Ann is touching forest, can she shoot through it? At her full range? Is her shot obscured?

1.5 Can Ann be IN the forest, and avoid the obscuring penalty by moving to the close edge, or does she have to step out of the woods? Wholly, 1/2 or just a toe out?

2 Does forest affect Melee strikes?

3 Moving through forest: Ann tries to move straight across the middle of the forest; Does it cost her 6" of movement, or as she will be moving 3" plus her base width of 1.2", does it cost her 8.4"?

You are correct about 1.1 to 1.3; due to Cover.

1.4 and 1.5, I feel like she can shoot out with no penalty but would have to look up the specific rule.

2 - not at all, with possible exception of Lilitu as AFAIK she may be the only model in Malifaux with melee range big enough that the forest can fit within it fully in between her and "Bob" without touching either, and thus blocking LoS. Even then, as she is a Nephilim, if it is an Illusionary Forest created by a friendly Lilith, I do not believe it would block her LoS due to specific rules of that spell.

3 - That is a good question. I feel like it's 6 as distance is measured from leading edge to leading edge, but you may be right. Usually I run models that have Scout, Flight, Float, Spirit or Master of Malifaux so it really doesn't come up that often for me!

Fairly sure for 1.4, she is not in the forest and so can not see through it, however if she has her toe in it she can see through it with no penalty's i believe.

For 1.4: If she touches the forest, she counts as been in it. There's no "3" or equal" rule for obscuring terrain or effect, only "more than 3" ". Ann been exactly at 3" would mean she can see through it and beyond.

For cover, Bob only receives soft cover against Ann if he's within 1" of a obscuring terrain AND if Ann isn't in 1" of the same terrain.

So Ann been 1" close to, or within the same forest as Bob, would prevent Bob from receiving soft cover. If Bob is farther than 1" of the forest and Ann shoots from inside the forest, he wont get any soft cover either.
