Coppelius Question

When making a successful melee strikes with Coppelius and choosing to go with the Paralyse trigger do you still apply the poison 2 effect (Assuming the model either has no poison or only poison 1 tokens.)

Basically does the choice of trigger replace all effect from the melee weapon?

Poison is applied when you hit, not when you damage, so yes you'd get both.

The victim wouldn't take the poison wounds in their next activation though. They'd have to use a turn/activation to clear paralysed first, then take 2 Wds at the start of their *next* activation

I thought it was ruled not long ago that poison applied on damage so the slumber trigger wouldn't allow you to poison them.

Correct, you actually need to do dmg for poison to work, even if it is 0 dmg, like from the performer's poison ring. Coppelius' Trigger says it works instead of doing dmg, so you aren't doing 0 dmg, you are doing no dmg, therefore no poison.

I can see now that this was ruled on by Sketch a couple of months ago.

No problem Mike, just glad to know one way or the other. This ruling makes sense as the little guy is still very powerful (even with the cuddle to the Alps he can summon). Thank you for the reply's.

Have maybe a silly question. What can coppelius draw eye counters from? I know spirits dont leave any counters but what about other nonliving models or constructs?

He draws them from any model he takes the trigger on, the trigger does not specify a model type to take them from.

Well, he gains one whenever he deals Severe damage, or Moderate with his other trigger. These are absolute and do not depend on the target model. I'd assume this overrides spirit as well?

The only time it depends if it's living or Undead is when casting Hallucinations, when you only gain a counter IF the target is as such.

This is just me reading the card, BTW. Feel free to correct me.
