Quick Draw and measuring range

snord

Question

Tried searching but could not find an answer.

Perdita's quick draw says:

(0) Quick Draw [Peacebringer]: This model may make a

Peacebringer Strike against a model within this weapon’s

Rg and LoS that has declared a ranged attack, Cast/Channel,

or Charge Action before that model flips a Fate Card or

moves. Quick Draw ends when this model makes the Strike,

or the End Closing Phase, whichever comes first.”

Question is: a model that may or may not be within range of the weapon declares a cast. Perdita's player "try to use quick draw" and finds that the model is outside the range. What happens?

a. Quick Draw does end because the prerequisite of the ability is that the target model must be within range.

b. Quick Draw ends and the strike is canceled because it was not in range.

Thanks

As I read it, Quick Draw would not go off, so as long as the model that was attacking (ranged), casting/channeling, or charging was in range to pull of there attack they would bypass Perdita's Quick Draw ability if they were outside of her range which is 10". an example is if Nino who has a 16" range was to target Perdita and was lets say 12" from her then he could successfully shoot her while her Quick Draw would remain unused.

The question is, if the Perdita player declares that they are using Quick Draw on a model, does it count as being used if she is out of range?

I view this in the same way that I view Perdita declaring a ranged attack on a model outside her range. She attempts to shoot, finds out the model is 11" away, and loses the action. Would Quick Draw work the same way?

Yes, because of the way that Quick Draw is worded, 'checking for range' is a legal measurement you can make when another model declares a ranged attack. If they are out of range, nothing happens, but if they are in range you are now committed to the Quick Draw Strike.
