Affinity in book 3

dakrulz55

Question

the Weaver Widow and Iggy both have a henchman affinity in book 3. Affinity is a "May hire" and henchman "can only hire". is the current "can only vs may" rulings going to stand with affinity and give them a re wording or is "can only vs may" going to change? also on a similar note Mctavish has covered in muck which is a may ability and Sommers good ol boys can only hire gremlins, is this wording also subject to change?

In this case, I would assume that "can only vs may" should get trumped by "specific trumps general" . Unfortunately, looking in the Rules Manual, it seems that the actual rule only says that models' rules trump core rules and "can overrides may". The intention is clear, but there's always those players who want to focus on exact wordings and will argue about the definition of words like "is"....

Perhaps there should be an official response that such people can be pointed to.

Kaeris' boxed set comes with fire gamin... arn't they a "may" for her (since normally she can only bring MS&Us...)

if so, that sets the standard that in hiring policy, there's some sort of cock up in the wording. (Which would bring us back to Ophilia's interaction with certain other masters... )
