CareyBear
They look so nice on the example models. So.... Am I going to have to sculpt my own? Or is there a source for them?
Mister Shine
Not from wyrd, but there's these guys http://www.warcaststudios.com/home?page=shop.browse&category_id=
Alviaran
I wish I had known about those! I just put my Kirai crew on street bases though I would have loved to put them on bamboo. Oh well.
CareyBear
Awesome, thanks. They will do nicely. Not quite as nice as the box art for kirai, I wonder where those ones came from...
Alviaran
I was told they were custom made for the studio models, as are a lot of the other custom bases they have that are not their metal inserts.
sinistercats
Of all the "custom" bases they're pretty easy to make. Just take a bunch of bamboo skewers from the grocery store and use a nickel as the outline. Glue a bunch together and trim to fit. Super easy. I've turned out a ton of them pretty quick and they look really good with just a brown ink wash on them.
Kintaro
I just used toothpics cut to form (gives a slightly dodgy, uneven look that fits the faction well), and some black string. Looks fantastic!
Mister Shine
And I can just appreciate laziness in modeling. Sometimes you just dont want to deal with skewers and want someone who works in resin to do it for you
dsmiles
I put mine on Microart Studio's ruin bases (and skull bases for the spirits). At least, I started to, then my LGS ran out.

Vin
If you want to save both both time from making individual bases and money from buying resin you have another option. You could go the wood skewer and string route and just make a simple green stuff press mould of the finished base afterwards. You have your nice bamboo base, but you only have to model it up once, then press down blobs of green stuff, like a cookie cutter, to detail your bases for the rest. Make a 30 mm, 40 mm and a 50 mm in one go and you don't have to do it again. Just keep your originals in case your mould ever deteriorates. Malcontent
Dark Templar produces a pretty nice set. Thanks for the shout out Some 30mm test pieces still available on ebay – full production kicks off in November. I'm currently building 40mm and 50mm masters. More details here. Frank
I own a shop in Cincinnati and one of our customers makes a really nice set. If any of you are interested I can see what we can do about getting some out to you...or at least putting you in touch with him directly. Dwug
I bought a plastic place mat at Bed Bath and beyond and used that. It was cheap and I have way more than I'll ever need.
Maniple
Any pics Dwug?
Dwug
I'll have to see what I can do about taking and uploading some.
