Nicodem
Hey, what is the best way to mount a model like 2 of the rotten belles where they have small feel onto a base insert? other examples of models like the belles are Colette Du Bois or Lady Justice. Stern
I used very fine pins and drill bits for my belles, Justice and Colette... bit fiddly but it works at least
Maniple
I used a bit snipped off of a dress pin. It is a more rigid metal than some of the wire I usually use and the fine point meant I could use a very small drill bit and still get a decent bond. Word of warning- don't use your sprue cutters to cut the pin. This kind of metal, since it is very hard, will damage them.
Subötai
I use the spring steel found in safety pins, but that will mess up the average hobby cutters. Carbide-steel parallel pliers with side cutter work well for that.
dsmiles
Gorilla Glue. Their superglue has a rubber-like-substance in it to make it impact resistant. Their regular glue expands to fill gaps. It can't be beat.
Stonedog-7
Having gotten fed up hand drilling some really awkward pieces i now use a saw to cut the tab down to the width of a "normal" pin and drill the base, has made my life a whole lot easier

Mister Shine
I just filed down the feet on my showgirls to make them flat and even then glued them to the base. Works like a charm if you arent throwing your models around.
eudaimon
I agree with the point above about using the tab and cutting it down. Its what I use 90% of the time. Most notably on the showgirls in the showgirls thread on my sig.
Mydnight
I use 1/32 gauge brass rod and .9mm drill bits as well as a bit of patience and a pinch of magic luck

Stonedog-7
About 1.5mm, not sure on the exact size off hand... as opposed to the veritably tiny 0.5mm that i hate using... smallest part i've used this on so far would probably be a Crooked Man's foot, and the pin and subsequent hole in the base isn't visible under the foot in the slightest

Try moving to a 0.8mm brass rod if your local hobby store carries it. There's a big difference in strength (although its still bendy) and its still tiny enough to be hidden under even the tinyiest of feet. Don't forget to 'nibble' the sides of the pin with your clipped before you glue. The perfectly smooth rod may not bond so well to the superglue unless you rough up the surface a little. Ciaran
Guitar strong works wonders for me. Once the superglue gets into the threads it's not going anywhere. It's also MUCH cheaper usually than brass rod.
Stonedog-7
Thanks for the advice guys, but i think i'll be sticking to cutting the tab down, it's honestly the quickest and easiest approach i've found short of buying myself a new dremmel and that does include trying different thickness drill bits However, the last points are good to note for the OP
