  1. Calling it now. Ten Thunders model with the Showgirl type. Actually I called it way back here.
  2. My secret cheating method for black is Vallejo German Grey, a coat of GW Badab Black, followed by a drybrushing of German Grey, a very mild drybrushing of PP Ironhull Grey, and then another coat of Badab Black. It gives a deep black-grey colour with plenty of contrast.
  3. Psst, Rathnard. The word you're looking for is Tomes. Its not pronounced Tombs.
  4. Themeatically it might make more sense for the model to be an Arcanist Showgirl Mercenary who doesn't cost more if hired by a crew containing Misaki/Ten Thunders models
  5. I tend to agree. I do like the idea of a Fan Dancer though, perhaps with some willpower test schenaigans.
  6. Big improvement. Painted bases really add to the overall look of a figure.
  7. You watch an old Hong Kong action film and you see a guy in a white suit, you just know he's going to be killing fools like its his job in Act 3.
  8. I love Malifaux, unfortunately nobody in my area plays it, yet. I decided to put my hand up as a Henchman for my local area, but for that I needed two painted crews. Well I finally had a chance to take some good photos: Rasputina (yes I know there are two totems in the picture). The Victorias I was especially happy with how Victoria Sword Mistress came out. Bonus game-in-progress shots from some teaching games over the weekend. Good enough for demo crews? Still to come: Ramos, Collette, Kaeris, Leveticus, Lillith + Nekima
  9. This was pretty much my impression. Its on the Wyrd Things to Do List, but its a big list, so don't hold your breath. Really want to play it though.
  10. But you should perform well in all aspects of the hobby to win a hobby tournament.
  11. Leave the model in the freezer overnight, then leave it out on a table for an hour, then freeze it again. The thermal expansion from freezing and thawing will help to weaken the bond, and you should be able to shake it loose after that.
  12. There's your problem. Try moving to a 0.8mm brass rod if your local hobby store carries it. There's a big difference in strength (although its still bendy) and its still tiny enough to be hidden under even the tinyiest of feet. Don't forget to 'nibble' the sides of the pin with your clipped before you glue. The perfectly smooth rod may not bond so well to the superglue unless you rough up the surface a little.
  13. I remember hearing this (I think it was an interview with Sketch actually) and really liking the idea. Wargaming in any form is very much a visual medium, and plain pewter models don't inspire anyone. Seems like this particular TO is aware that there perhaps aren't enough players with fully painted crews and has come up with this rule to encourage painted crews, but not exclude those who haven't finished painting theirs, such as the OP's roommate. The intention is clear though; Get your figures painted!
  14. Good lord, how big is a 'normal' pin for you?
  15. Has anyone got a suggestion about what to do when new players are turned off by the small number of crews? Just yesterday I was talking to a friend who was interested in playing, but his two favourites, Seamus and the Gremlins, have already been purchased by people in town, and so he was less interested because he wasn't able to be the only player of a specifc box. Any suggestions on how to approach this?
  16. I can't speak for the gameplay aspects of Freebooters Fate, but the models outstrip any other game system I've ever seen, with a corresponding level of painting skill required to get the best out of them. Sculpted by Werner Klocke, they make great display pieces for the more advanced hobbiest. One day I'll pick up a starter box or two and actually play a game, right after I finish every other model I have sitting around waiting to be painted
  17. Strongly dissagree. The Rising Powers cover is what sold me on the game and the Arcanists as a faction, and I hadn't even seen any of the other showgirls at that point.
  18. Which part of the country are you from? Its a big place.
  19. Just be sure to get all the unoficial fan patches because, oy, that game is a mess unpatched.
  20. I picked Colette. I love me some showgirls, and the possibility of some puppet Coryphee.
  21. Antipodean supremacy. I can't speak for the US but shipping is absurdly fast to Australia. They do go work so go it, just don't forget to get 40mm and 50mm for your corphee so you don't have to double up on shipping later.
  22. Wait... damage and wounds are mutually exclusive? EDIT: Turns out they are, rules manual Page 44
  23. Personally I have Back 2 Base-ix bases for my Showgirls. They are cheap, ship fast and come in 30mm, 40mm and 50mm so you can match the bases for your Corphee and Corphee duet. You will need to give the base a light sanding to remove any flash and make them sit level. They are resin, so if you aren't familiar with how to work with resin safely, you may want another option.
  24. Yeah mine showed up today. Sue has to be my favourite new model, so badass.
