If we both can go, there will be 2 students who can't spend any money at gencon and we will have to stand at the entrance, begging for some money
Drake
Hi all, Just a quick note to say I should hopefully have a a great deal more info on this by the end of the month, negotiations still in progress and draft itinerary being put together...but just a couple of things you might be interested to know... 1. Hope to have some interesting news from Wyrd shortly regarding support from them for us European lot making the effort to go over to US for this as a group....watch this space 2. I am hoping that, further to negotiations with Battlefoam and Wyrd, a couple of those taking part in this delegation will hopefully (subject to this being agreed) win a Wyrd/Battlefoam bag just for coming along.. So those are just a couple of potential highlights for those coming along for this trip to the worlds biggest gaming convention and the most sought after tournament of the annual internation calendar (after Neverata's GT ofcourse :adore: lol) I will be posting here full information in due course... Finally, if your name isnt on the first post of this thread, and you want to come along and join in this outing, please PM me, or post here to let me know and I will add you on the list. Many thanks Ash

Drake
Hi Everyone, I now have a further update on this venture so lets jump straight to it..the outline itinerary is as follows: Tour Details: Day 1 – Tuesday August 14th Tour members will be arriving throughout the day and everyone will have transportation arranged to take them directly to the hotel. A Geek Nation Tours representative will be waiting to greet you when you arrive. We will have a leisurely, relaxing free day to explore the area. Depending on your arrival time and your interests this can include taking in a couple of Indianapolis’ museums, which are just a short walk away from the hotel. Join us in the evening as we get to know each other over dinner and even get a few games in with the gang from Kentucky Fried Gamers. We will dine and game at two of the favourite destinations for local gamers. First, we will head to the RAM to eat with the KFG crew and then move to Scotty’s Brewhouse for some gaming. We will be staying at the beautiful new JW Marriott Indianapolis Hotel. The hotel is connected to, and just a few quick minutes walk away from, the Indianapolis Convention Center. Day 2 – Wednesday August 15th Today we will be continuing our exploration of Indianapolis. We will take in the Indiana State Museum, walk the canal and even explore the Mass Ave. Arts District. Here we will see live theatre, galleries and boutique shops. Our sore feet will get a reprieve at the end of the day with a shuttle back to the hotel. For those that want to stay closer to the hotel, the KFG crew has invited us to game with them all day long - just make sure you remember to stop in time for our welcome dinner! In the evening, join us for the welcome dinner, which takes place at our hotel. It will be time to listen to our guest speakers from the D6 Generation Podcast and from Megan Culver, Director of Gen Con Marketing. Fun will be had by all as we discuss how to get the best out of the Gen Con experience. We will be treated to Gen Con advice that is sure to be of interest to the newbie or veteran alike. Share a drink and mingle with the D6 crew, Megan and the other tour participants to discuss all things Gen Con... Megan will also be handing out our badges so we will be all set once the convention begins! No ticket pickup line or postage fees – just roll out of bed on Thursday right into the con. After dinner, we will continue our pre-Gen Con gaming with the Kentucky Fried Gamers as we return to either the RAM or Scotty’s, depending on your gaming tastes. This evening will be a bit more structured, game-wise; as we have the pros run our games. They will give us a taste of everything from roleplaying to boardgaming to card games and miniature battles. We might even have a local brew or two! Day 3 – Thursday August 16th As we will already have our badges, we will be able to jump right into the Gen Con goodness! At this point you will be ready for the spectacle that is Gen Con. If you have any questions at all our Geek Nation representative will be there at the convention with you. As a matter of fact, he will even walk to the convention with you to ensure your Gen Con experience proceeds without a hitch. We will be starting off our Gen Con experience early as we head off to the opening ceremonies at 10:45 a.m. just outside the exhibit hall. We will meet each night to regale each other with our experiences, the games we played or saw, and to share other Gen Con “war stories”. Past Geek Nation participants agree that our nightly gatherings are a wonderful part of the convention experience - a time where you can get to know other geeks and maybe hear a great suggestion or two on what to do the following day. You can join us every night or you can do your own thing, it’s entirely up to you. Geek Nation Tours wants you to have the most freedom as possible to “Geek Out”, so our meetings will be completely optional – you can come and go as you please. Day 4 – 6 – Friday August 17th through Sunday August 19th You now have three days to completely geek out! You are free to experience Gen Con as you want, though there will always be a Geek Nation Tours representative on hand to deal with any questions or concerns you may have. Join a role playing game, demo a new boardgame, or get your picture taken with a cosplayer. Your schedule should be all set at this time but you can always choose to head off to Gen Con’s boardgame area to grab a game with some friends. Lost your companion? Don’t worry – you can always find his exact location with Facebook “Places”. We will be there geeking out as well, having a great time and planning the evening’s get-together where we can recharge and prepare for the next day of Gen Con fun. Our Geek Nation representative will be leading groups to see the Hickman’s Killer Breakfast, Terrorworks, the D6 Gen’s “Play by Mob” event, and the famous “True Dungeon”. Be sure to sign up for any or all of these events – they are going to be a great! Sunday night we will be getting together for our farewell dinner. Join us at Scotty’s for one last meal, a drink and a farewell to Gen Con. Day 7 Monday August 20th Today we will transfer to the airport and head home. End of Tour. I have also received the following information from Geek Nation Tours who have been doing the hard graft to put this together: Hello Ashley, I thought I would send you another email letting you know the following: 1) I have a special promotion for your group. If you book asap I will raffle off 1 Battlefoam Custom Malifaux bags once the bookings are complete. One lucky person in your group will receive the bag prior to the tour to make sure all of their minis get to Gen Con safe and sound. 2) I am talking to the Kentucky Fried Gamers and they tell me they will have something arranged for you on the Tuesday and Wednesday nights prior to Gen Con... It will involve playing Malifaux at the RAM or Scotty's pub 3) I am still contacting Wyrd and hope to have something on this front for you shortly.. .. Hope this helps and please email anytime if you have any questions... magicpockets
Just to add to this, Geektours have quoted $1309.6 for flights to Indy (I presume Wednesday in & Monday out). If booked in the UK (with 1 stop) it looks like they are $150 cheaper (likely Delta don't do this price if booking within the USA). I've emailed GT to let them know, and I'm sure we'll (well, Ash ) will look at this closer to actual booking
Drake
I will be looking at this soon. Looking to get the best deal possible for all.

Andy_B
I've been in contact with Teras @ GNT over the last few days about joining this tour and he mentioned he'd had some interest from the UK and then I stumbled across this thread! What are you guys doing about flights and where are you planning on flying out from? I've looked online for flights and also had a quote from Teras. Andy... mythicFOX
I've not looked at this in any detail yet but I'm having a google round at the weekend and let people know what I find.
Andy_B
I've spent a little time today getting prices and I'm getting around £775 as the cheapest so far (but thats with me planning on flying out of Manchester). TBH I've no idea if this is cheap or expensive as taxes are making up a good £290 of this!! Does anyone know if flights usually go up or down as the departure time gets closer?
magicpockets
Price changes are a lottery - cheaper as it gets closer but more expensive as seats get booked. So empty plane closer to the time is cheap, full plane close to the time is expensive. I too have acquired a deposit
TIC
Hello all and thank you all for your deposits. I can't wait to get to Gen Con..Very excited indeed. Air is always problematic you never know when it goes down. The airline can put on a sale when they please and if you have a ticket already then there is no refund. The issue however is normally it gets more expensive as you move toward the date. Don't wait too long...unless you are a gambler...
