edonil
Not too much, how are you, Steam?
SteamHammer
Not bad. A busy morning at work ahead by the look of it.
Absolution Black
Have either of you ever played the game, "Diplomacy"? Diplomacy? Doesn't sound like anything a decent Guild officer would be interested in! Morning folks.. I am debating getting the zoraida box..i want the silurids, and will be collecting gremlins so I guess it could be a good buy??
SteamHammer
Morning Abs. That's not a box I have so can't give any feedback on it.
edonil
Evening everyone, how goes?
Nikko Andass
Evenin', Ed -- how are you? Sorry I missed this earlier, I was tabbed out for a bit.
edonil
Heh, no worries. I'm okay. One of those days, unfortunately. Trying to struggle on anyways. How are you?
Nikko Andass
Good, good. I put a final coat of flat clear coat on my Sidir, but I'm still not losing the "glossy" look. Not sure what else to do. And, btw, just what constitutes, "one of those days"? Sorry it's been one for you.
edonil
It won't help with Sidir, but ask Mako about his stuff that he uses. He doesn't do the gloss/flat coat process, and he hand paints his, but he told me the chemicals to be watching out for one time. Forgot to write that set of info down, unlike some of the others, lol. edonil
Um. Basically a day where a switch gets tripped in my head that causes all sorts of various spiraling problems. Rarely ever has a trigger, but doesn't keep it from being a mess and screwing up a lot of things that I would want to do. Thankfully this wasn't a 'bad' day. Those get...fairly scary, is about the only way to describe them. Also are a feth of a lot rarer, lol. Starting to snap out of it some, thank God. Nikko Andass
Good -- sorry about that, again. I'm glad you're doing better! So, what do you think of your comet lander, now?
edonil
Thanks, appreciate it. Was quite excited to hear that the landing happened, even with the glitches. Hopefully they can figure out the problem with the harpoons and get those working!
Nikko Andass
That French head of the ESA sure was patting himself on the back. Must be double-jointed, to have not permanently dislocated his shoulder.
edonil
Eh, I dunno. That whole team deserves the right to do that, honestly, lol.
Nikko Andass
See, having been witness to most of the manned Apollo missions during the early to mid 70's, it takes a bit more than landing an unmanned satellite on a hunk of dirty ice to impress me. edonil
Heh, considering the distances and time involved, I find it a lot more impressive myself, but that's okay. I'm just hoping they get the harpoons working and can run the experiments they want to, that information will be a treasure trove, lol.

I hit Wolverton's site, looked really interesting. I know I've at least sat in on one of his panels, before. And I'm almost positive I saw him at ComiCon in the same author's section with Correia, Anderson, Sanderson, et. al.. I should read some of his stuff -- he looks like he'd certainly be right up my alley.
edonil
Heh, sadly the writing is one of the victims of the brain chemistry this week. Starting to get my feet back under me, though. Working through a proposal for a freelance project and might actually get it finished up in time. Well, at least finished to my level of planning... even with the new planning tools I've learned from Wolverton, I'm still a discovery writer at heart. Too much planning and Elle (my muse) goes sulking and loses interest.
edonil
What kind of stuff do you normally read?
Nikko Andass
Oh, I read a LOT of non-fiction, but my fiction reading is usually focused on SF/F genres. My favorite living author is Gene Wolfe.
edonil
Hm. Don't know that name. David Weber?
Nikko Andass
Not familiar with David Weber, either. Have you read any of Dan Simmons stuff? And you OWE it to yourself to look up Gene Wolfe. He's the SF/F genre's writer's writer -- amazing stuff.

edonil
Dan Simmons... nope. I'll have to look up Gene Wolfe. Vernor Vinge?
Nikko Andass
Vernor Vinge is a familiar name, but I've never read any of his stuff. I did see Fast Times at Ridgemont High on opening night in 1982 -- does that count?
