SteamHammer
Winter is coming.
Mako
Apparently, up here we should be on the edge of hurricane whatever it is. So it will be windy and rainy, but not actually dangerous. Lucky us... I'm still annoyed you guys have had more snow than me so far, I came out here for the cold!
Mister Shine
last year it barely snowed at all.
SteamHammer
It didn't settle here so I'm sure you'll get more in the long run.
Dustcrusher
Ugh, sorry about the car, Monkey. Always a pain to deal with, and based on what gearhead family and friends have told me, it's one thing that sucks about the new technology in cars- that is, old cars are much easier to self-maintain. My girlfriend is OK. She'll need to have the tumor removed, but it's not something that has to be done immediately. Could've been any number of much worse things instead of a routine procedure. As for the playtest, long story short I went a month without reporting anything. Other projects and bad timing with my other test folks got in the way, though I got a third player to try it and he likes the concept a lot. Worst case I will email our feedback every so often- I figure it's better than nothing. Why is it so cold Because it's winter, silly.
Mister Monkey
Glad it is just routine for your girlfriend Dust. Sorry to hear about the playtesting though, having been in a playtest crew myself it does take a lot of effort but can be rewarding.
edonil
Nearly ten hours since the last post in here? That's not good. How's it going everyone?
Mako
I think the word is blerk. Although I did at least finish Mr Graves' skin and undercoat his shirt tonight. How about you?
edonil
Oh, not bad. Got my homework done, so that's all good. Trying to find five sources for an essay is harder than I thought... o.o What a weird topic overall. Did you end up going to that NaNo meetup?
Mako
Five sources? Strange number to need. Still, it all being done is a bonus! No, in the end the crap weather and the long distance, coupled with less than three hours sleep last night, meant I was too tired to go.
edonil
Very strange considering it was a 300+ word paper and the first one of the class. Ahh, yeah, that'd be true. You getting hit with this storm too?
Mako
We'll be right on the edge of it from the looks of the weather reports, but it does mean winds up to 100kph and rain all week. You getting much?
edonil
Oh yes. We're right on the lake, so flood warnings, high winds, the whole gambit. And it's only the first night, lol. My sister has it worse, she's out by Boston and is a lot closer to Sandy.
Ausplosions
It's just a hurricane. We get them all the time (Cyclones actually, but same thing). Is it really as bad as the media makes it?
Mako
Ouch, Boston can't be fun at the moment! She been evacuated, or just bunkered down to wait it out? Actually, I live about twenty minutes walk from the lake, hope the slope is enough to stop any flooding that makes it to they city! ---------- Post added at 05:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:08 AM ---------- Well, it was a hurricane, then it merged with a winter storm and became some messy combination, and New York is currently paddling. Plus it killed 60 odd people in the Caribbean before it reached mainland. So I reckon it's worth mentioning. Especially when it's the first time I've been on the same continent as one, and both of us are near the path.
edonil
What you're really looking at is two different storms mixing together and then combining all that with a South-North Jetstream, or at least that's what I've been seeing. So you've got the nastiness of a fall winter storm (never fun) that's refueled the hurricane and given it more energy to hold onto as the eye leaves the ocean. She's not close enough to Boston to be evacuated, about an hour and a half, so she's bunkering in, but Boston is basically shut down right now. Mako
Well, at least she gets to have the comforts of home while Boston gets a jet washing!
edonil
Yeah. The thing that sucks is my brother in law is in Texas about to be deployed to Afghanistan and her flight out to see him is on Wednesday...from Boston. So we're hoping Sandy calms down so she can fly out.
Mako
Oh damn, that would be really bad. Hopefully it'll get clear in time for her to fly!
edonil
Yeah, that's where we're all at. The nice thing about being at work tonight is that the building is huge, so I don't have to listen to the wind. *grin*
Mako
Count yourself lucky, I can hear it hammering the windows every so often and the side of the house is creaking when it gusts! Why do I get the feeling I'll wake up with a huge hole in the outer wall...?

Mako
Well, at least I'll be able to sleep through it by then, I'll be so tired! I should be worn out now, but I'm stupidly awake. Busily assembling bits of framing for that complicated sculpt at the moment. Work quiet tonight?
