Mister Monkey
Or aubergine?
SteamHammer
I've never managed to do any freehand that wasn't so ugly that I painted over it straight away.
edonil
Or aubergine? ...O.o What's that color? I managed to get a new brush, and my little bit of freehand that I tried was kinda fun. So, I figure it's worth another shot.
Mister Monkey
Ok, its a purple colour, like an eggplant, Aubergine its a colour and a vegetable A good brush is essential when attempting freehand, what size did you end up getting? edonil
Huh. Interesting. Maybe! I just got a standard 0 size. It was fun to work with, that's for sure!
Mister Monkey
I just like saying aubergine 0 is a versatile size brush, good for a lot of tasks.
SteamHammer
Probably too close to the purple he's fed up with.
edonil
Couldn't tell, lol. Bah. I'm just annoyed I have to start all over on figuring out my color scheme. I had an idea, and liked it, but now I need to start all over. I'm tempted to break my 'not using blue' bit, I fulfilled that with my Rail Crew after all. ---------- Post added at 04:56 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 AM ---------- Oh, it's not purple I don't like. I love purple. It's the technique that's driving me up the wall.
Mister Monkey
True .... what about puce then? No that wont work either seeing as you are in the States....
edonil
Honestly, I'm thinking turquoise as my primary color and purple as the secondary. Use the velvet color for some detail bits.
SteamHammer
I'll be interested to see the results.
edonil
...Wait. Crap. I did that for my Ressers. Damn. (sigh) I guess dark blue would be more appropriate for ninjas anyway...
SteamHammer
Ninjas are both easy and cheap. Just make up some nice bases but don't bother with the model.
edonil
Heh, there's a plan! That could be fun. ---------- Post added at 05:19 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:18 AM ---------- So, anyone else got any projects going that they need advice for? SteamHammer
Maybe when the Gencon stuff arrives. At the moment it's pretty straight forward. The peacekeeper will match the paint scheme of my other constructs and avatar J will follow the colours of regular J. I need to clean and assemble original Misaki and avatar Kirai at some point but when they're painted will be determined by paintathon poll. edonil
Ah, fun. Get any painting done yesterday?
SteamHammer
About five minutes. Just putting some black around the edges of the bases of the ones I finished over the weekend to make them look nicer. I'll do some more peacekeeper tonight. SteamHammer
Making good progress with this project. Or rather it gives me a sort of deadline to do things by rather than my usual "eh, whenever" approach which lead to one mini getting painted each week. Of course, sooner or later I'll have to paint the neverborn backlog.
LonelyPath
~Sneaks up behind everyone, shouts "BOO!" and then hides again~ Yep, still alive, just caught up on the Xbox a lot again... Well, when not assembling decks for magic: the Gathering, painting minis, etc.
Mako
Morning all. I think. The weather's miserable and getting less than four hours of sleep sucks, I think it's worth mentioning that. I feel like someone jabbed me in the head with something unpleasant... Anything fun going on?
SteamHammer
Afternoon. Nothing fun. Stuck at work with half the day still to go. But at least the weather is better here this week.
Mako
Sounds like fun, weather here is still miserable. At least it's now lunchtime, but I'm dying for a coffee and there's too many students for me to get one!
SteamHammer
An hour to go. Maybe painting will be postponed for tonight as Avengers arrived in the post. Why does all my Lovefilm stuff arrive on the same day no matter when I post them back.
Dustcrusher
One argument for super glue over cement- I ruined all of my spare bits for my Rail Crew due to spillage They aren't completely ruined, but some of the detail has been lost. I'll have to hope my current set holds up for a very long time or get good at conversions. Makes me wonder if the bits dealers will start carrying single Rail Workers, Torakage, etc. Managed to resist the call of Relic Knights, but I am probably going to buy Dreadball as it reminds me of a cross between Blood Bowl and Rollerball, minus the wheels. Gotta figure out if I want to try sending my miscast 15mm back or just fixing them. There are only about 5 that really need repair.
