Nicodem to get list.

I have brought Nicodems box set having been tempted by Ebay having seen it at a good price new.

However I was wondering what blisters I should also order too bring the crew upto scratch. Its not helpful that although I have the rule books on order stock seems impossible to get at the moment.

So I was wondering if someone who plays this crew could list a few must add to the crew. At least that way once the rules get here I should be pretty much ready to play.

I have read the tactica and the other threads here but because he can pretty much summon/raise all the undead it gets very confusing as too who to aim at purchasing first.

Nicodem has quite a big list of must haves.

Most people run him with at least 2 vultures.

You will also need 6+ mindless zombies.

He can summon most Unliving so it useful to have a good mix of them ready to go so you can summon to requirement. If your just starting up I would recommend a pack of Crooked Men and Belles

It is also wise to have a some canine remains to start with to use as a pool for summoning, you can kill them to get Corpse Counters which then become Mindless Zombies and then can be turned into other unliving.

Was seeing that the Belles seem to apear in most lists along with the canines I was wondering to buy the Belles as a blister though or to get the Seamus box set as its only a bit more expensive I guess it would be a case of how much of a cross over I could use the other zombie models needed for Nicodem ie the Crooked men and Mindless Zombies.

The Mindless Zombies model wise I am not over keen of having more than 3 simply because I dont over like repeated models so I guess some proxy models would have to be located for the rest of that little horde.

By some Canine remains how many do you mean Ratty? Thank you for the quick reply

The nice thing about Seamus is that you can play 25ss games straight out of the box (1) with the addition of just a totem (2). He is also fast and tough so a very good starting master if you want to get the hang of things (3). That way you can be playing while collecting everything you need for Nicodem.

(1) With a big SS pool, which is great as you will be wanting to use them with his flintlock to get unblockable shots, I was one shot killing against Friekcorp last game

(2) Either Grave Spirit or Copy Cat Killer

(3) I've played my Seamus once so far and I feel reasonably confident with him already

Mindless Zombies are a must, and six is the number I recommend. Buy the official models or proxy them, just have them.

Canine Remains also have a lot of utility, both for Nicodem and McMourning, so they're great if you plan on expanding beyond one master.

Rotten Belles and Crooked Men have enough utility that I usually end up bringing at least one into battle via Reanimator.

More than three Zombie Punks. At cb 7 with paired blades and Flurry, they are excellent. They are the foot soldiers in my Might Undead Army.

Two Vultures. Its very difficult to cast most of Nicodem's spells with them, but their Eyes and Ears and corpse gathering ability make them invaluable. Some people take a Grave Spirit instead, but if I want added protection for Nicodem, I take a nurse instead. Specifically Miss Pack.

Looking at the cost of buying all I need for Nicodem outright is expensive especially as one of the three people in our playing group has not played the game yet. So I think that I will take your advice on this and pick up Shamus and a copy cat with Bette, then I will add more undead as my collection goes on building Nicodem up as you said. Given that the Nicodem I picked up was only £13 inc postage its not like I have payed much more for the box set than I would do the Punk Zombies blister.

Still looking foward to playing Nicodem though and if we get too play a lot I will fork out for all that is needed too get him running right pretty quickly. I just dont want to end up wasting money on building his crew up if we dont end up playing Malifaux too much.

I don't know if you have a gaming store nearby but given the amount of zombies I've used, I actually found it was more economical to buy this 20 pack of Vampire Lord zombies from some Warhammer thingy, I split the cost with my friend who also took half, so I paid for 10 mindless zombies for around $17 instead of $45.

If you plan on using Nico a lot...I'd get some Crooked Men, Killjoy, some rotten belles, a Flesh Construct and maybe a proxy for the Rogue Necromancy...canine remains are always nice.

I play Nico quite a bit and even though he can summon almost anything without a pulse (constructs not included), I find I don't use anything more than those I've listed above.

Also, it's just my experience, but i have never needed more than 3 Punk Zombies...but then again, I am kinda wierd...or should I say Wyrd?

I actually like Mantics undead range I have about 10 ghouls from them somewhere which I can use for the mindless undead if needing a horde of them. I have placed an order for the Redchapel crew as I wanted Belles so I might as well pick up a second master whist at it Bette Noir is also on order as well I will probably be adding Canine Remains next as I like the models alot too and then Crooked Men. Hopefully that should give me a start on the Nico crew whilst the RedChapel should be at a playable point

Necropunks are pretty nice for their cost.

They are good for running up, getting killed, and popping out Killjoy or even Bete Noire.

If you are going against a lot of range, you can use them...or anyone's Slow to Die to give the finger to your enemy as you claim Plant/Destroy evidence. Provided you aren't in melee.

Altogether they are pretty cheap models to go out and grab objectives.

On another note, instead of always taking a final swing with Slow to Die, you can always use it to take a walk towards Nico to get that precious Corpse Counter closer.
