Lord Shaper
Hey All, I've recently came back to painting figures and some friends at work have me playing and painting Malifaux so I thought I'd join up so you can let me know what you think. I'm working on The Guild and I've finished up my Lady Justice figures so far with more to come. I do generally put more up at http://www.talesfromthewarzone.com but I'll put the figures up here as well. I also have finished Taelor but I haven't taken a photo of her yet. And lastly I've done some Malifaux Special Terrain which you can see below. Soulstone Vein Mysterious Effigies What do you all think? blkdymnd
Those look awesome. Nice Work. Love the soulstone vein, what kind of base is it made on? I like the lighter colors on the Death Marshalls too.
Lord Shaper
For the Soulstone Vein I went to the local hardware store (Bunnings) and picked up a do it yourself Coaster base. Then drew the design on for the shape, flocked the outside and the pile in the centre of the vein and then undercoated and painted.
blkdymnd
good idea. A little smaller and square and easier to deal with than the CD's I was thinking of using for my unique terrain pieces.
Lord Shaper
I've also done a Magic Nexus which I don't have photos of yet which I used a CD for but some things lend more to a larger or smaller base. when I do a Graveyard I want it to be larger and the same with the campsite where I want a firepit or something like that. Lord Shaper
Nice work. I particularly like the executioner... I had his flesh all done and looked at his stomach and saw he was begging for something to be tattooed on him!
AvatarForm
Exactly. Though Im no pro at tattoos yet, I think one last wash/glaze over the tatto in the top layer colour you used for skin would make it appear within the skin, rather than painted on top... just a thought. Lord Shaper
I did do a couple of wash layers over it after doing it... I think it helped it look a lot better than what it was when I originally had it as.
Chucklemonkey
Really like all of what you have done. Wouldn't mind seeing a shot of Lady J from the back. There have been a few nice Lady J's here recently.
LoboStele
Cool. Do I see a bit of Vincent Valentine inspiration on the Judge there?
Lord Shaper
Here's the Lady is from the back... And I wasn't thinking Vincent Valentine but I can see it now when looking at him... I was thinking more of Vash the Stampede.
zomblaya
You know i was thinking vash when i was looking at the judge now i see why Good work!
LoboStele
Ahh yes, I see Vash as well. One of our local guys did a Hans with a Vash-inspired paint job.
Lord Shaper
Ahh yes, I see Vash as well. One of our local guys did a Hans with a Vash-inspired paint job. Just thinking about that seems to fit as well... I just had the red coat come to mind and when I back tracked where I had seen it I came up with Vash. I really want to do an Alucard style figure as well when I find something for it... Maybe when I get an Austringer...
Lord Shaper
I also was using the cover for Red Steel 2 as inspiration for the Judge
nilus
I had his flesh all done and looked at his stomach and saw he was begging for something to be tattooed on him! Yep, I know the feeling. Mine has "Guild Life" on his belly.

Lord Shaper
Also like how you did lady justice hair. It was fairly simple to do... using Crimson Gore for the base, Black wash it and then mix up a Crimson Gore and yellow to make a lighter colour for a drybrush

Lord Shaper
Nice work. Loving the marshals and the mysterious effigies. Very 'Old Malifaux'-esque! D. Thanks for that... I'm currently working on a hanging tree as there is a group of us going to be putting in a bulk order soon so I can fill out with the rest of the guild so I have some more to paint. It's odd that I'm one of the ones from our group that hasn't played as much but I'm the first with a fully painted crew for up to 45 SS
