Stomphoof Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Hello my fellow necromancers! Originally, I was going to join the Guild, but then I came to my senses, and decided to embrace the dark powers. My only problem? Where to start! I like McMourning, but I hear his box starter is bad. I like Seamus alot, but his belles terrify me... What would you, the experienced Necromancers of the world, suggest I do? Quote
HoarcatsPride Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Mcmourning's starter isn't bad. I like it, but you should buy the undead chihuahua totem and a pack of canine remains to use that box to its full potential. Quote
zomblaya Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Mcm box set just needs a little more stuff to buy but isn't bad and You didn't mention Nicodem why? he's a fun rezzie to play with And i can't comment about seamus Quote
Stomphoof Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 I am just not a huge fan of Nicodem. Honestly I want someone who can mix it up in a straight up fight (hence why I like McMourning) Seamus can mix it up as well, being right hard to kill. Quote
TimeLapse Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Yeah nicadem is good, its who i run, but he is not a fighter, instead he just paralizes what he needs to kill and he can boster undead to make models like Bete and punk zombies into melee monsters. Semus is a great boxset the only undead that is mostly playable out of the box, i would just by his totem and then you have an intresting starting list that is turnament ready. You might throw in a model or two down the line but he is the best out of the box. I would go Mcmorning Totem 1 Sebastian 6 Canine rem 2 Canine rem 2 Canine rem 2 Canine rem 2 Bete, or two crooked men or two punk zombies dependig on what you want to play. (9-10) Hope this helps. Stomphoof Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Thanks for the help. Looks like the Mad Hatter will be my chosen Master. The shennanigans I can see being able to do with him just scream awesome. Quote
TimeLapse Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Yeah he seems to be alot of fun, though his totem is a must so get him with the boxset. -Andrew Quote
emissary Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 McM also works very well with rotten belles and a convict gunslinger. The rotten belles can push something towards McM to allow him to charge them. The gunslinger is good for getting that first wound on something to allow the dogs to charge for 1 action point. Quote
Stomphoof Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Well I shall start with Seamus for now, and then get McMourning and some dogs when I have a chance. I like both masters so its just a question of who to start with first (and I do like Nicodem, just gotta get used to the game first before picking up a more difficult master) Quote
Mentor Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 If you are starting with Seamus then I would suggest picking up a model or two that can put out some serious damage. Seamus and the belles can control the battlefield but you are going to have a hard time bringing down some of the tougher models in the game. Punk zombies and Bete Noire wouldn't be bad first additions to make to your new Redchappel Gang. Quote
Stomphoof Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 So if you were going to expand the 25ss crew from the Seamus box up to say 30 what would you add? Quote
Mentor Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Well depending on how you feel about sacrificing your own models, Killjoy is exactly 12 points and he adds a whole level of hurt to the box. On the other hand though a Flesh Construct and a Punk Zombie cost the same amount at face value and don't end up costing yourself any models on the field. Quote
shekbo Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Lemme tell you, Punk zombies work just amazingly with Seamus' belles. Essentially, they have an action where if they spend their entire activation attacking in melee (no moving) they get a free attack, and as it is their melee combat is brutal. Belles can drag models towards them with ease. A good tactic is dragging models towards the belles so that they run into the punk zombie (putting him in front of the belle) and then activating the punk to cut them to ribbons. Quote
Stomphoof Posted September 7, 2010 Author Report Posted September 7, 2010 Does Seamus really need alot of Soulstones? He only starts with 2... Quote
emissary Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 I usually like to have 1-3 more. They're good with him to help him boost his shots. CB of 5 and wanting to have no negative flips on the damage is pretty important so you can cheat. I also usually only start with 1 rotten belle in play so that I can summon the other 2 as I play. I usually start with Sybelle, copycat killer, rotten belle and 2 punk zombies. This gives you 3 extra stones. Works pretty well. You can also trade out a punk zombie for a convict gunslinger and 2 extra stones rather then 3. Quote
cromusz Posted September 16, 2010 Report Posted September 16, 2010 Make sure you check out the Seamus Tactica. It has tons of great info in there that really helped me out when building my different lists. Quote
hippieshopper Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 Yeah, we're working on an McM one and a Nico one too. Quote
Sandwich Posted September 17, 2010 Report Posted September 17, 2010 I won't be doing an McM or Nico Tactica for a while. Quote
