Blackmore
Is natural affinity still a rule of the main rule book? Because on youtube, if you search MAlifaux overview, the movie that comes up talks a bit about natural affinity. Is it still an element of the game??? Angus Khan
No, that video is about one of the old versions of the game... the version that was actually released is very different. (So things such as natural affinity were dropped)
n0signal
What was Natural Affinity?
Angus Khan
What was Natural Affinity? IIRC, every faction had an associated suit, and then they could only cheat fate with a card of that suit. (I think...It might have done more...) Blackmore
thxall, gave a mighty amount of confusion over the gaming table...
goblyn13
pretty much, ignore the video from 2008, you'll want to only look at the video from 2009.
nerdelemental
But the natural affinity concept is still there! Now, though, you'll pretty quickly identify a suit that is associated with each faction and that's now in triggers - more or less what the original "affinity" turned into. You know: Guild and Rams. Arcanists with Tomes, etc. The original concept was both too cumbersome and didn't really allow a lot of neat spell and ability development. It was just kind of generic. "Oh, I flipped a tomes. That's my affinity." and that was it. Now there's multiple suit, suits built into stats, cross-suits, etc. More dynamic.
